This actually hits close to home. My hubby was served court order papers stating he was being sued for his company in which we were confused about and then we found out there was another person with the same name and year he was born in out area. Can you believe that- what are the odds? My hubby has to now attend court to clarify this. Just unnecessary stress

Damn. That is stressful.

It went straight into most people's junk mail. I only found out because I came onto the site when he was hacking it. He was the one who shut down the site and it didn't come up for like a month or two. He put a video up then people's email addresses and I automatically left it and deleted all traces. Again, I thought this was the standard response because I thought everyone had better things to do with their life. Turns out that was not the case

Bloody hell, is this still going on? Or is it just going on again? Either way, this will never be resolved, but both sides can try forever.

Unless our bossman Tim or the moderators says otherwise I guess anyone can post whatever they like, to suggest that other members of the forum have power over this is a bit silly, it's a free country. Personally I am open to suggestions here and I real life, if something I do or say is really annoying to others I may stop it, but I don't have to, I figure it's kind of the same for everyone else here. Really though, if almost everyone says the same thing repeatedly then it's probably advisable to, at the very least, listen.

Using someone's past against them is pretty low, especially when it's just in an everyday context where it has no actual relevance. We all have aspects of our past that we don't like and that's a fact, some people are more open about this than others, and really if there's a chance that it will be used as ammunition later then fair enough to be quiet. I would think what is a much more important indicator of a persons character and the like is who they are today and what they do in the present tense, so really that's all we should be judged on primarily.

I never received this email of emails, so I can't say what I'd do if I had. Really though, reading it is not that bad. Some people here know my email address, as well as my phone number, full name and address really, and I've never felt threatened by this. Unless I've missed the point here?
Yes, listen and take note of what people say. Your choice to ignore it of course, but ultimately, more fool you.
As for the email, Kismet alerted me to it but I never saw it. Yes, reading it isn't so bad, it's what you do with the info contained therein that can be the nastiness. If I wanted someone to know my facebook details or phone number or real name, I would prefer it be from me, not them getting the info by back door means, but then, the world wide webs isn't entirely private, so it's all fair game in many respects.

Mutley, is your signature 'Have more than you show, Speak less than you know' a threat?

The one that you increased the font size on when you were feeding out account details. That one.

So...

Well I guess I should post that I almost lost my wallet today, there was 200 dollars in there that was gifted to me, and I hadn't even realised I lost it. My kids first primary school orientation was today and I already love the mothers there since one of them actually walked to my home address to return my wallet to me. Anyways hopefully this will add a little lightness to the thread

Wow, to be honest I doubt I would have done that. I wouldn't have taken it, but I probably would have just handed it into the office, not walked to your house. Good on her! You must have been very relieved!

I'm more shocked at how the law system works in this regard. Like it doesn't matter that they have served the wrong person papers, the person needs to still waste their time dealing with it and now proving it's not them. Just nonsense

I was relieved when she handed it to me, though I wouldn't have even noticed for a few hours lol. Yeah I would have handed it to the office too. She def deserves good karma

Pleased that you got it back intact. I've returned a wallet to the house of the owner before as it was local to me. Bummer about the papers though for your husband. At least he's not in the wrong.

That's lovely regardless if it was local. Also it gives a sense of a good neighbourhood.

The whole same name thing is just so weird to me. It's such a huh!? kind of moment. Something I'm sure we can laugh about like 20 years from now I suppose

Good research and fact checking by the lawyers.
Will it cost him any money to prove it wasn't him?

Noted. Would you be happy for Mutley to be publishing your surname while issuing veiled threats?
I'd be wanting to know what I'd done to warrant him threatening me. Not responding though puts you in the categories of either perpetuating the 'crime' by not doing something about it and possibly halting the process or makes the perpetuator have no idea as to your feelings about it and if any retaliation is forthcoming.

Well he called the court about it and they told him to lodge a form online which puts it back on them about mistaken identity (sorry I have forgotten the terminology). So basically he puts a defence in and they need to prove it's him. Which they can't since he has never owned a company in his life. He isn't using a lawyer for this though and were just figuring out if that's ok because it is going to cost to do so and it just seems ridiculous that we will need to. Were not sure if we should tbh. Surely once he shows documentation than it's an easy resolution.
