at 19 he did Vietnam and Cambodia with only his air ticket and a scuba diving course booked ... rented a moped, fell off the moped ... had to pay $AU450 damages for "scratches" on moped that he'd had to pull into local villages and get makeshift repairs done do even before the fall - because it was old and crappy - just to keep it going! however they took their passports as bond so basically he was held to ransom to pay "damages" to get his passport back!

I must remember to give him a lecture on NEVER HANDING OVER YOUR PASSPORT TO ANYONE!!!

Hopefully he did learn from that experience .. we heard about it only after he'd been home for a few days ...

its a wonder I don't drink more!!

At least finding out afterwards prevented you worrying about it! lol. Quite smart really.
Mine's already got a part time job with all these capitalist little plans about what he wants and where he wants to go. And he's not even 15 yet.

I remember when I was around 19 years old I was in Laos and I had this magic mushroom pizza and it was possibly way too much for my tiny self as it went well beyond a bad trip and I was just lying on the ground outside vomitting over and over. I was by myself at this stage too. Some guy in a van drove me to my hotel room and luckily for me I was in one of the nicest and friendliest counties there is as he didn't rob, kidnap or rape me. Literally no harm done. My dad was so bloody angry at me when I told him the next day, I guess I can see why.

Aside from that I've been very sensible when overseas, I swear.

Wow that's scary. And brave too, going there by yourself.

I wasn't there by myself the whole time, but a lot of people at the time said it was brave however it didn't seem daunting to me. Probably they were just worried I'd do something stupid, and they were not wrong.

Wow. Something very similar happened to me, also in Laos (Vang Vieng I think) when I was also 19. Everything worked out fine but I still look back and think "you careless idiot, you could have died".

Oh really? It's probably pretty common if I think about it, just like all the horror stories from Bali. I can see how young people end up in these situations as you do become more adventurous overseas and feel somehow protected from it all, invincible I guess. So dumb though.

Agreed. Mine wasn't drug related (it was tubing incident - so not really "very" similar at all lol) but it was still something I would have never even considered doing at home...especially after being warned repeatedly not to go and do it.

The things we do as teens!

Uggh the dreaded magic mushroom trip. They never end well. I can remember collecting and eating gold tops as kids, and one boy decided he was a monkey. He scampered up this tree like a lizard, which made my confused mind think he was in fact part monkey... Until he fell out and snapped his leg.

Haha yep good times. Or so it seems at the time.

I lean more towards stupid than brave though.

SoOoOoOooo stupid.

Did anyone watch Adele on channel 9 last night? Woman is a freak. I'm jealous of her massive range and impeccable control.

I've seen the Graham Norton thing with her disguising herself and doing a sing off with Adele impersonators.

Hah yeah that was part of It I think. I saw it on YouTube. I only watched the first half of the concert thing. It was hosted by Norton.
When I said last night, I meant Sunday night. Whoops.

@hooleydooley how are the doggies after last night?
Sorry if I've missed anything you've updated anywhere.

Thanks for asking, but I am not sure ...... he was out all day and I think he took the pups with him to go and collect supplies. I will find out tomorrow ..... I could not sleep last night (morning) it was all very scarey and heartbreaking but with relief thrown in - SPIN OUT TIMES!!!

She is so insanely talented. I love all her albums, although I need to be in the right mood to listen to them which doesn't happen much. She is one of the true vocal talents out there.
