The photos of her now really say something about how she must have been feeling for a long time before this. I'm glad she's been able to get away.

Apparently the way she's filed for divorce, making it New York and asking for a rapid hearing, means that the court will be open and the case will be a lot more public than most celebrity divorces - a media gift.
 
Apparently Katie has been planning her escape for some time. I truly hope everything works out ok for her.

It will be interesting to see how Scientology plays it. Some people are saying Tom may not fight her on the issue because he would be worried about what info might come out about him and the "church". However, even if it seems like she has an easy win, she will have to watch her back (probably forever). Scientology is really good at doing hatchet jobs on people. Or she could just go "missing" as David Miscaviage's wife did.
 
Apparently the church love to tape peoples every move when they go against them and Katie is getting the same treatment. I hope the media tape the taping and turn the tables on the church and their people.
 
I would assume that the majority of people are skeptical about Scientology as it is. I doubt there would be anything they could release that wouldn't end up making them look even more whacky and have them thinking that Katie did the right thing getting out.

As for Suri. Given the reports that in Scientology that the children are expected to make their own decisions, it explains why she was maybe pictured wearing, what some people thought, was inappropriate clothing/shoes. To be honest, I don't get the sledging of her though.

If you believe everything that is printed, I read that she has quite a dossier of information on Tom and on the Church as a kind of protection, which, like you said, they're not going to want to get out which she has been collecting for years. So it sounds like this has been a long time in coming. I hope that whatever she has got it's enough to protect her and Suri. I've also read that she is prepared for it to be a very open playing field too and doesn't care what comes out about her, she's going to refuse to play behind closed doors. I hope she manages to keep the court case in NY. Apparently she has the best chance of winning there because of the state laws.
 
Tom and his minions must have thought they struck gold with a young, dumb replacement for Nicole, but she wasn't dumb at all. Katie's father is a lawyer and has been involved form the get go to make sure that Tom wasn't able to go for full custody in the pre nup or anything, I remember there seemed to be a fair bit of tension between daddy and Tom back then. So no doubt Daddy has been giving her tips on what to do for years.

I also read recently that she did not fully participate in the 'Auditing' where they pretend they are doing e-metre bulldust and ask inapprorpiate questions and then use your answers against you at a later date.

I think there is a lesson here that you don't marry some douche actor just because you had a poster of him back in the day!!

The would-be big showdown between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes won't be, after all.

While speculation over a potential cross-country battle for custody of their 6-year-old Suri reached a fever pitch over the weekend, the estranged couple announced this morning that they have quietly and privately reached a settlement.

"The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed," Holmes' attorney told E! News. "We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.

"We thank Tom's counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution."

^That was speedy! Something doesn't seem right with all of this:confused:
 
Whatever she has must scare the hell out of them, it's all a bit too quick and shiny compared to what was predicted and the trouble that his other wives had or what other ex-scientologists have said their divorces are like.

Whatever the reasons for the quick settlement, I hope it's enough to keep him and his church out of her life for good.
 
I thought it would be a quick settlement ... but woah that was quick. However, I don't trust this at all ... it was too easy. If anything bad happens to Katie in the future, I'd be very suss.
 
Apparently it does....Suri is to live with Katie in New York and Tom has "generous" visitation rites.

I just hope their is independant supervision during those visits...I can imagine him hooking her up to an e meter the MINUTE they are behind closed doors. :(
