Frocks, Frolics and Fotos

I have never been to any kind of race thing, not even trots- my family is allergic to gambling, it's embarassing around Cup time.
I haven't a clue how to bet or any of that stuff - and I want to learn a bit to bet on BB next season, if I had last year I would have made heaps, I think I got all but 1 or 2 evicts right, and the winner.

Day at the races sounds lovely Shell, what are you wearing? Wouldn't it be lovely if you won heaps on your birthday:)

McCauly Culkin....so not sober :(

I'm not exactly a fashionista, but I say any excuse to dress up & drink has to be fun! What an awesome idea for a b'day party :D

Aw thanks guys.... I decided to pull the pin on the races and have changed the venue to The Opera Bar.

Apparently the deal with Randwick right now pretty crap - you have to queue up for tickets on the day (first in best dressed) and there are no online sales in advance. I didn't want to stress about all my friends getting in :(

Also with the renos, it's pretty gross, all the lawn is dug up and half the bars/restaurants are closed :(

We are still going to suit/frock up at The Opera Bar and drink pink champagne over looking the harbour. Well maybe not the guys hehe.

kxk, I haven't decided yet but I am a dress person, so have plenty to chose from ;)

I love the opera bar so much- it's the first place I go to when I'm in town :) great views, great atmosphere, not so wanky

Yeah, that's it exactly, and there'll be room for everyone too... no trying to squeeze into some little cocktail bar or overcrowded pub.

This is interesting, women in the 30s

Some stats on movie stars.........

It's a wonder they didn't topple over with those teeny feet!, 4 - what, their feet were half of mine, that's like the size of a big muffin, only the teeniest bit bigger than your ankle, freaky.

And the last on the list.......

Is deemed the perfect body........with those huge Mumma child bearing hips:)

I read somewhere that feet get bigger with each generation. Our great-great grandchildren might end up looking like hobbits. Or Sideshow Bob.

2.5, did you see that? That would be a toddlers foot.

Don't know about the growing size, but no arch/flat feet seems to be an epidemic in young men/teens, every boy, we know.

And those women back then actually cared about size & could be fibbing a bit. Back in those days they even squeezed into too small shoes, big old feet were a disgrace apparently.

That was the old sizes, before metric conversion, so these are US sizes that we don't use anymore. What was a size 4 is about a 6.5 in Au, so those size 6 1/2's listed up there would be about an 8. Average sizes.

Exotic dancers from the 1890s

The Charles McClaghy Collection has released this intriguing selection of images of female exotic dancers from the 1890s, which shows just how different our perception of ‘exotic’ has become over the intervening 120 or so years. (via How To Be A Retronaut)

the guy in the pink jumper behind her looks so desperately unhappy... he's probably thinking "She made me wear this pink jumper and poofy teal scarf and now all the other men can see just how pussy-whipped I really am..."

....meanwhile the guy (?) behind him is thinking "Darling but *I* look simply Faaaabulous!!!!"

Oooooooo I love these.

Horsegirl is a bit - icky.
Cupid is the only modern body.

And I love the body image/standard = basically, just squeeze that waist tiny with torture implement/corset, and voila anything goes
