Estelle appreacian thread (i can't spell)

I travel interstate a lot, so when the inbound flight is late you can work out how far away it is and how much time you have to kill.

Yep, that's what I was trying to say. I thought that would be a good use of it actually.

It's good because airlines tell you nothing when flights are delayed, you can't tell anything. I've got the app on my phone and can see exactly what"s going on.

So guys I was walking past a club tonight n I had just missed Ryan he had already gone in wit George I was shattered!!! I just don't have any luck

I think that's the difficulty with grasping reality tv, manipulating real people's emotions to make soap operas.

bb isn't as hardcore as some 'dramalities' where it's partially or completely scripted (The Shire cast had lines... poorly executed lol) rather bb situations are contrived, i.e. bb prompts them to have certain *conversations, provoke or do certain actions but aren't necessarily reading lines per se.

My fav is Survivor where they sit there on a 'deserted island' and talk about their isolation... yeah just me and two camera operators eating donuts, changing batteries and 40 crew just over the hill... I'm sooooo alone. Feel the serenity.

*The Delilah family deliberations thing was totally staged though as was uncovered recently.

So yeah no doubt HMs may come on here and try to shut it down. Their whole survival in the house was reliant upon fans analysing every minutiea while they were making content for the show (which is all it was, entertainment) but now I'm not a reality cast/actor anymore, fuck off, stop talking about me... doesn't work that way until the fans can make that break.

Heads up LoveBB. Some never do. That's the risk you ran. I know some ex reality cast and it follows them forever. If you transition into an entertainment personality/celebrity you get a new bunch of fans and are on level pegging with other celebs. If you don't you're fucked basically until people stop recognising you, either through the ageing process, weightgain/loss, or you were forgettable anyway.

It's not the same without live stream, even so Big Brother is fundamentally more reality TV than other shows which really took off in America first (like Survivor). For one thing Big Brother is a LIVE event, and that is a huge difference to American style shows which are often completed months before they are even shown. Being live does make it more real and less of a scripted drama. Some things of course are manipulated by the producers now (same in the UK), the American influence unfortunately. Even so they can't control everything with a live show and some unexpected things will happen. Willie getting thrown out of the US version this year, Josh leaving because of a bereavement. And the fundamental part of simply watching how people interact rather than it being more about a game (like it has been in the American version for years) does make it more real and so something you can relate to more.

I also don't get your idea that those on the show don't want people to remember them. People who go on reality shows do tend to want to be in the limelight, so they wouldn't be upset about forums. Obviously if people want to spread false information that would be challenged, but surely you'd expect that?

It depends on the personality whether or not forums bother reality cast, much like if tabloid press blatant fabrications bothers celebs.

Reality cast, rightly or wrongly, ending up as villains like Ben are generally mortified (he won't be because he's too narcissistic to care) when they are yelled out in the street. It's personal. The anti-fans hate them (even though it was just a construct). There's been a few reality tv nervous breakdowns/suicides.

You don't get this issue with actors. An actor plays a villainous character, say in a long running series. Sometimes the public confuse the character with the actor but the actor can just brush that off... stupid confused fan.

Actors do get it when their personal lives become public... Aniston (saint) Vs Jolie (villain).

Positive fame can be tiring. For years Michael Caton endured several "You must be dreamin'" hollers a day. He was very gracious about it though. Don't be shitty to fans...

I just discovered why estelle started her voting phone line save message with the following: "word up this is Estelle..." Apparently she is the door manager at Word Up night club in South Melbourne.

Sounded like "What up" to me.

Surely if she were saying what up she would say "what's up"? It sounded like word up to me and it didn't make sense at the time. Nor did her comment to Michael, "word". I wonder what she meant by that.

Usually when someone says "word" it just mean they're in agreement.

She was saying "what up?".

If you're trying to sound like a gangster rapper straight outta Compton, you say "what up?" when you mean "what's up". Like when you say "aight?" when you mean "all right?" or "word" when you agree with what the other person just said.

The thing is, if you're not a gangster rapper straight outta Compton, you just sound ridiculous. (N.B. - Unless you're the Beastie Boys.)

Caz clearly you're spending too much time in the Ben apreciation thread! Hang out here and the brain cells will be repaired in no time! :p

Anyone up for a bet? Let's make bets on when we think Estelle will go on a twitter follow spree.
