Does anyone go on big brother soley to win $$$$

i know the 3rd new housemate claims she is going in 'for my children' and that the money will help her family. It got me thinking about whether anyone would solely go into the show for the cash prize!

Would you be that sure that you would win?

Back in the Ten era there were some housemates that entered for the evictee prizes (remember Nelson?).

There are some other reasons I think people would go in:
  • A paid for holiday
  • For exposure (especially models or those wanting to get into TV & Radio)
  • The consolation prizes when BB had them (as mentioned above)
I don't think anyone who says they're only in it for the money nowadays would be being true about themselves - especially now that there is no live and unedited component to Big Brother - everyone is at the mercy of the editing department.

yes there has been, and theyve never won.
thread closed?

I just wish those in there for the money would admit it. Admit it and there chances of winning it are probably better - nothing worse than someone clearly in there for the money (or even more concerned about winning it than the actual prize) but completely denying it.

Completely agree... It's disappointing that the million dollar prize in BB4 failed to do anything the producers hoped it would...

However the fact that BB gave HM's thousands in prizes regardless really didn't help at all... When did that start BTW? Or was it always that way?

If memory serves even in the very first season they got consolation prizes.

I remember evictees receiving a Playstation2, Harvey World Travel voucher and a 3 mobile phone., not sure if those were for that first season though.

I figured as much... It seemed so commonplace from what I've seen...

Eeeeek... I'd figure a good HM could make more after the show riding the "fame" they got on the show than any prize package...

In earlier seasons yeah they seemed to have made a bit from appearances, now days not so much, if I was going in it would be eye on the prize, screw the "journey" and the "experience" they a nice bonus I guess, but my sole reason would be to win the money, which people dont seem to like so I'd be out week 3 at most!

I'd rather people went on it for the prize, than for the exposure. Famewhores.... ugh.

I guess they all do go on there for the money oh also wouldn't it be funny if some other housemates said that there here for the money and big brother drops a bombshell no prize money hahaha

To be honest that is only a half truth... As the novelty of show has worn off of course appearance fees and opportunities have dropped... However there are other ways to milk your 15 minutes of BB fame...

Just as an example my friend Steven Daigle went on to do gay porn after he appeared on the 10th season of BBUS... I'm being serious when I mention that... TBH it's all in how you play your cards and the plans you have in place...

I remember you saying you knew him, he has done quite well in terms of transitioning into that industry and got lots of buzz by using his BB name thats for sure, I think for me I have no desire to be famous or infamous the only reason I would consider it is for the prize itself :)

He's no longer in the industry but it certainly opened him up to more people who perhaps didn't watch BB... He's now trying to do more mainstream entertainment...

I wouldn't say I know him well but we've done a few events together and what not... When he'd not being a bit of a drama queen she can be really fun to party with... I'm also familiar with a few others in the industry too... Like Brent Everette...

This was the summer after he was one the show... Around the time his first movie came out...

I look a bit like crap because this was taken first thing Monday morning after an extremely long 3 day weekend... We drove over about 1500km and partied pretty hard two nights in a row in two cities...

If I were to get on BBCA I'd use the experience to launch my own event company... I'm also in the process of trying to learn to DJ, so I'd use my notoriety to get myself a few gigs...
