Dr Who… episode five… Dot and Bubble…

…ha!… the first three words that are uttered are the title of the episode… pretty funny… this girl wakes up to a myriad of images of a chat room on the internet… the images are part of an internet bubble totally surrounding her face… (I want one!… I want one!)…

IMG_3610.jpeg

…I don’t like her friend ’Hoochy Pie’ already… what a vacuous annoying bimbo… just saying…

IMG_3611.jpeg

…she doesn’t even have to watch where she’s walking… she gets directions with arrows in the bubble itself… “do I need to pee?” she asks… a ‘Dr Pee’ says no on an app in the bubble… (his character will now live on forever in Dr Who lol!)… I really love her apartment with those circular windows…

IMG_3614.jpeg

IMG_3612.jpeg

…all of her zoom contacts on here seem like really shallow vacuous type people to me… oh hello!… The Doctor just appeared in an ‘unsolicited request’ and told her that she’s in immediate danger… she just flipped his image away… “it was an itsey witsey teeney weeny yellow polka dot bikini” suddenly blurts out lol!… **cue opening credits**…

…I like the way the bubble is reflecting in a mirror… great detail…

IMG_3615.jpeg

…a whole city is under a bubble like Gallifrey… the city looks great in detail… a combination of old and new buildings melded together…

IMG_3617.jpeg

…those people on her website are really irritating me… especially the one with the hat on… ‘Hoochy Pie’… she’s walking along towards ‘work’ and has just passed a body laying on the ground… she gets told to side step it by the arrows… something drags the body away…

…the special effects of the bubble are superb… she’s now in a room… Ruby appears on her bubble and is asking her questions… they work only 2 HOURS A DAY?… lol!… two LONG hours!… lol!… Ruby keeps trying to get her to lower her bubble and to take a look at her fellow workers around her but she doesn’t want to… what an air headed bimbo the floss head is… I’m now starting to dislike her because she seems so bloody stupid… (she’s acting out her role so well though… kudos to her)…

…people are disappearing all around her… she finally looks outside of her bubble… Lindy looks to her right and a giant slug thing is eating her fellow worker… she finally turns her bubble off… she sees what is happening… now The Doctor and Ruby are both talking to her… what?… she can’t walk properly without her bubble?… (that’s a bit of a stretch isn’t it?)… she gets to a lift… it has a giant slug thingy in it!… it’s an ugly mother fucker isn’t it?… the slug ignores her… why?… weird… she’s now out on the streets outside… people are being eaten everywhere…

…these slugs remind me of a sculpture that the crazy mother makes in ‘Beetlejuice’ lol!…

IMG_3478.jpeg

IMG_3480.jpeg

…only 17 to 27 year olds are allowed to be in the city… no ‘stinky old folk’ but just spoilt bratty little rich kids only… is her ‘mummy’ Susan Swift yet again???… boy she sure gets around doesn’t she lol!… Lindy just realised that The Doctor and Ruby were in the same room together… she seemed annoyed about it… huh?… what did she say to The Doctor?… “weren’t you the same guy from before?… YOU ALL LOOK THE SAME TO ME!”… was that a racist remark or what?… or am I on the wrong track or something?… and… “he’s not as stupid as he looks”… another nasty remark towards The Doctor… I’m really hating this Lindy now… I hope that she gets eaten by those slug thingies now…

…she just ran into a group of slugs… feast on her please…

IMG_3618.jpeg

…the guy named ‘Ricky September’ just turned up and is helping her get away from the slugs… what a shame… “you’re so good at walking”… she’s so pathetic!… now she doesn’t even care that everyone is getting eaten now… what a shallow uncaring bitch!… as long as she’s alright it seems… now she’s talking to The Doctor and Ruby again… a hundred combination numbers?… that’s a tad bit of overkill isn’t it?… have you noticed that the whole show has been in bright pastel colours… nice…

…the slugs are eating them in alphabetical order?… Ricky is punching in the code to the door… “dot off!… dot off!”… the dots are behind the killings by the looks of it… it’s trying to kill Lindy… (please succeed)… Ricky tells her to continue punching in the codes while he uses a metal rod as a bat to fend the dot off… Ricky is down… Lindy punches in the last code… the door opens… the dot goes for her…

…”it’s Ricky Coombes!… he’s before me alphabetically!”… the dot goes right through Ricky’s skull and kills him!… that’s fucking cold!… what a hateful bitch she is!… fuck I hope she dies!… she closes the door as the dot hits it… she’s escaped… fuck it!… I knew that I hated her for a reason… Russell T… I never saw that coming… well done!… she’s so fucking nasty… she’s going through corridors now and finally gets to The Doctor and Ruby… she walked past them as if they didn’t exist… she didn’t even thank them…

…when asked by Ruby where Ricky is she just said “he went back to save others… he was sooooooo brave”… what a lying slag… I hate her friend with the hat too… who’s this tosser?… they’re all going on o boat to conquer others in the great beyond?… “where’s mummy?” Lindy asks… why does she talk like a child?… she’s told that she is dead… she’s gone to the sky… The Doctor and Ruby offer to take them in the Tardis… what the fuck?… THEY’RE WHITE SUPREMACISTS!… all The Doctor wants to do is save them regardless but they just turn and look at him with disgust… fuck I hope that boat sinks as it leaves the shore… I want to see them all die… that final look from Lindy is so cold and heartless…

IMG_3485.jpeg

…the boat will sink within hours for sure… I wonder who on the boat will tell Lindy when she needs to pee?… end of show…

…aw man!… that was my most favourite episode this season!… what a brilliant story… talk about a mental mind fuck or what?… just when I thought that Ricky’s death was the ultimate shock… finding out that they are all bigoted white supremacists was another total gobsmack… Ncuti’s last minute performance was exceptional… he’s really won me over as a Doctor now just with that performance… they were great acting chops right there… seeing Ruby consoling him in the background has won me over too… the looks of anguish without saying any words at all was exceptional and the actress playing Lindy was absolutely brilliant… such a good performance!…

…I’ve never turned on a character so fast before so kudos to that actress portraying her… yet again… well done Russell T!… I went from feeling sorry for the floss head to absolutely hating her so bloody fast!… lol!… Russell T… you sure delivered this time mate… 10/10 from me for sure… (just one minor bug bear for me though… why were the dots getting the slugs to kill them all when they could’ve just done what her dot did to Ricky?)… I loved this episode so much… cheers.

…I’m just about to watch ‘Rogue’… I hope it’s as good as ‘Dot and Bubble’ was… man!… that was a good episode!… that was a high standard that it needs to meet… here goes lol!… I’ll post my review tomorrow night most probably… cheers.

Dr Who… episode six… Rogue…

PART ONE…

…1813… Bath… England… (I love these period type episodes)…

…”you are a cad sir… you’ve dishonoured my sister!”…

…”which one am I dishonouring her with are you referring to?… the one in the kitchen?… in your study?… in the stables?”… haha!… a great start lol!…

…the offended guy cricks his neck and then… wow!… this guy that is having a go at him wants to be him… he grabs the ‘cad’ and lightening is everywhere!… “now I get to be the bad one!”… **roll opening credits**…

IMG_3555.jpeg

…everyone is dancing in a ballroom… Ruby gets some sort of interference through her ‘psychic earrings’… (I mean… really?)… The Doctor investigates… is that Susan Swift yet again in that painting lol!… jeez!… that woman sure gets around doesn’t she?… who is the dude on the balcony?… so this is ‘Rogue’ then… as in… the title of this episode eh?..

…I’m just wondering… does The Doctor wear different wigs in every episode or is there a machine on The Tardis that just zaps him instant real hair when he needs it?… curiouser and curiouser…

…oh dear… the lowly housekeeper has the audacity to be seen by her ladyship’s guests… the hide of the woman!… she must be the changeling again… ha!… she is!… more lightning lol!… Ruby is listening in on a conversation… she gets discovered…

…oh hello… The Doctor is flirting with Rogue… he spots a shoe… the games afoot!… he discovers a body… he realises that Rogue knows what is going on… Rogue pulls a space gun on The Doctor because he suspects that The Doctor did the crime… Ruby is consoling some chick because she was ‘dropped’…

…we just found out that The Doctor doesn’t like to be called ‘Doc’ lol!…and Rogue just called The Tardis a shed lol!… Rogue’s spaceship just materialised… back to the ballroom… so the now two Aliens are talking… The Doctor is slagging off Rogue’s ship lol!… now it’s the battle of sonic screwdriver against Rogue’s gadgets lol!…

…when he is stuck to the floor with Rogues ‘molecular force field’… he says “my name’s Bond… Molecular Bond”… lol!… I don’t like Ncuti’s sonic screwdriver… “did you get your name from ‘Dungeons and Dragons?”… lol!… “my screwdriver says the spaceship is wired for sound!” The Doctor starts playing Kylie Monogue’s ‘I can’t get you out of my head’ over the speakers lol!…

…The Doctor shows Rogue the telepathic paper and it says “you’re hot”… lol!… they’re flirting with each other now… The Doctor registers as a shapeshifter on Rogues scan because he always regenerates… suddenly The Doctor throws his telepathic wallet at a console and it shows all of his regenerations to Rogue…

IMG_3559.jpeg
IMG_3561.jpeg
IMG_3565.jpeg

…he stops the teleportation countdown based on what he has seen just in time… he releases The Doctor… (who the hell is The Doctor between Hartnell and Baker in the last image?)…

…Ruby and the once crying chick discover a dried up dead body… it’s the housekeeper methinks… The Doctor takes Rogue into The Tardis… Rogue shouts out “I’m in love!”… when The Doctor looks at him he continues what he just said… “with this machine!”… lol!… (is Rogue going to be The Doctor’s future love interest and another companion I wonder?)… they’re going to kiss… no they’re not…

…they meet up with Ruby again… The Doctor realises that the killings are to do with ‘Cosplay’… the once crying girl asks The Doctor “what are TV signals?”… lol!… after The Doctor mentioned them lol!… end of part one… cheers.

Dr Who… episode six… Rogue…

PART TWO…

…now The Doctor and Rogue are dancing together… everyone around them are shocked…

IMG_3572.jpeg

IMG_3570.jpeg

…it’s causing a big scandal… then they have a staged ‘argument’ to get even more attention and then Rogue gets down on a bended knee and proposes marriage to The Doctor to cause even more of a scene to draw the Aliens out… Rogue presents The Doctor an engagement ring…

IMG_3575.jpeg

…The Doctor runs out of the ballroom followed by Rogue… their sham worked… the two Aliens have run out after them exposing who they are… The Doctor and Rogue discover that there are 4 Aliens after all… they’re lined up in front of them showing their true forms…

…they’re now being chased by the four of them… they now state that they’re going to Cosplay the Earth to death… ha!… crying girl is one too lol!… so now there are 5 Aliens now… she wants to become Ruby!… she grabs Ruby by the arm… we hear lightning and a scream… her death is off screen… so is Ruby now dead?… she must be dead!… (The Doctor is going to be sooooo pissed off)…

IMG_3585.jpeg

IMG_3583.jpeg

IMG_3586.jpeg

…the four others go into the ballroom as their true selves and cause severe panic… The Doctor and Rogue are hiding on the balcony above and both agree that the Aliens intend to kill everyone so as to leave no witnesses… there’s going to be a wedding and now The Doctor realises that Ruby is dead… (cue his anger and revenge)… The Doctor is devastated and has a flashback promising Ruby’s mother that he will ‘always keep Ruby safe’…

…one of the Aliens tries to become the Vicar and fails… he just has his clothes on but doesn’t look like him… curiouser and curioser… hang on… what if Ruby isn’t dead?… what if she killed the other Alien somehow and that she’s pretending to be one?… too much of a stretch maybe?… let’s see lol!…

…The Doctor flings open the door to the ballroom and makes a grand entrance… he begins one of his epic speeches… Ruby suddenly starts telling The Doctor that it’s really her after they are all trapped in a molecular field… she names her mum and grandma etc to convince him that it’s really her… Ruby IS alive!… because he is convinced it’s her he’s trying to turn the transporter off but can’t… he’s holding the trigger to transform them all off to oblivion but can’t do it… Ruby keeps telling him that it’s okay… Rogue says to him… “can you lose your friend to save the whole world?”… he says “no… I can’t “… Rogue says… “I know!”… then gives him a passionate kiss…

IMG_3590.jpeg

…Rogue steals the transporter device from The Doctor… he runs to the triangle trap then pushes Ruby off of the triangle trap with the momentum of his body… Ruby falls to the floor… he has taken her spot and pushes the teleporter button to send them all to oblivion… himself included… The Doctor loses the love of his life forever the poor sod… or has he?… Rogue says to The Doctor as he’s pushing the button… “find me!”… (so he could return again after all?… I sure hope so)…

IMG_3594.jpeg

IMG_3595.jpeg

…The Doctor and Ruby now walk out of the now empty ballroom…

1718004087691.png

…The Doctor sends Rogue’s spaceship out into space so nobody stumbles upon it… Ruby gives him a strong hug then goes to The Tardis… The Doctor pulls Rogues engagement ring out of his pocket and puts it on his finger… he looks skywards and gives him a kind of salute and smiles… end of show…

…this episode is as magnificent as ‘Dot and Bubble’ to me!… (if not better at times)… the range of acting ability with Ncuti is brilliant!… does he have no bounds?… this period piece is as good as it gets in classic Dr Who style to me… I really cannot fault it (except for some of the Alien true forms maybe?… they looked a tad bit silly to me… they were not up to its usual high standards as far as I’m concerned… it seemed as if they all just escaped from a birdcage or aviary)…

…seeing The Doctor with a love interest was great to see… (not having a companion being in love with him was good to see for a change… being an outside love interest was really good to see)… what a shame Rogue didn’t become his second companion… he could easily have been the new ‘Captain Jack Harkness’… a shame really… I actually liked Rogue… oh well… Ruby having ‘psychic earrings’ was a surprise… why haven’t the other companions had them before?… I hope that they don’t become the new ‘sonic sunglasses’ that Capaldi had…

…I really loved seeing the holograms gallery of all the other Doctors… even Dr Ruth was among them… I liked that… although… which Doctor was that between Hartnell and Tom Baker?… it’s got me stuffed!… I liked Rogues spaceship and the duel between his gadgets and The Doctors sonic screwdriver lol!… (although I don’t like The Doctors sonic screwdriver design at all I’m afraid)… now I’ve just gotta figure out one thing… is The Doctor homosexual or bisexual or trisexual like Captain Jack Harkness?… (trisexual = will try any sexual position with any species whatsoever… male or female lol!)…

…all in all… this was yet another bloody great episode… it’s up there with the best… well done Russell T!… keep bringing us more great episodes please… (maybe he is the new modern day ‘William Shakespeare’ after all again lol!)… cheers.

This was Richard E's Grant 'Shalka Doctor' from the animated 'Scream of the Shalka' in 2003. This was originally meant to be the 9th Doctor before the show was rebooted and Christoper Eccleston was cast as the 9th Doctor.

So RTD has just made this doctor 'canon' somehow.

…wow Will!… thanks for that my friend… that’s fascinating… I’m going to Google it and do some research… ha!… well done Russell T… I even saw Paul McGann in it too… so kudos to Russell T for doing that and tying up loose ends by doing that… thanks again Will for enlightening me on that… much appreciated… (I learned something new about Dr Who!… woohoo!)… cheers.

…I knew that I’ve seen the new Dr Who Logo before… it’s a reimagine and update of the old 1973 Logo… here’s a great article about it… from this website… cheers.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

For 2023 Doctor Who has reverted to its ornate, iconic, 1973 logo. But it’s not the only one making such moves

Last year Doctor Who revealed its new logo for a new era. Except it wasn’t actually quite brand new. Rather its a modernisation of one of the show’s most classic logos. Designed by Bernard Lodge the diamond logo first appeared in 1973 in The Time Warrior Part One, the same episode that introduced Sarah Jane Smith and the Sontarans. It went on to becoming one of Doctor Who’s most enduring symbols. It stayed in the show’s opening titles for a record seven seasons.

And this isn’t even its first rebirth. When the television institution finally went to sleep for its long hiatus at the end of the 1980s, there was no ‘current’ logo any more. So many merchandise and tie-ins like videos and Doctor Who Magazine reverted to that classic diamond logo. Even when the 1996 TV Movie introduced chose to adapt the 1970-1973 logo instead, some merchandise strands were still clinging to the diamond version as late as 1999.

For many, it was the return of a beloved childhood friend, whether they’d grown up in the 1970s or the 1990s. For others, it seemed like a neat tie-in to Doctor Who’s Diamond Anniversary. According to showrunner Russell T Davies himself, the man behind the decision, it was simply the logo he’d always liked best.

For its 60th Anniversary and beyond, Doctor Who is looking backwards to provide an update for one of its most recognizable logos Diamond logo Diamond Anniversary Bernard LodgeFor its 60th Anniversary and beyond, Doctor Who is looking backwards to provide an update for one of its most recognizable logos (rendering of Bernard Lodge’s 1973 logo by Clayton Hickman)

The reimagined diamond logo embraces the Heritage Maximalism aesthetic

But others found it an odd choice. And in fairness, at first glance, even with the enhanced, three-dimensional quality and metallic sheen, it’s a distinctly old fashioned look. We’re more familiar these days to modern design trends bending in the direction of ever greater sleek minimalism. And certainly Doctor Who’s most recent logos have tended towards picking and tweaking a nice font and texture.

But the reimagined Lodge diamond logo seems fussy by comparison. The text is based on Futura Bold but with not one but three layers of stroke on the blue ‘WHO,’ in white, gold, and grey. The ‘Doctor’ isn’t blue, but grey, and curved over the top of the WHO in its own panel. Meanwhile, the whole lot is backed by a diamond shape with an inlaid art deco style design of shapes, consisting of two inner diamonds, a curve across the bottom of the middle diamond, and a V shaped cap on the bottom of the outermost diamond.

It’s a lot.

Indeed, it fits in neatly with the design style called maximalism, where more is always… well, more.

I have to say I’m not a fan of the current logo. It’s too… bulky..? They’ve made an improvement to the opening credits at least so it doesn’t take away from the time vortex animations too much.

But my golly. Rogue. I am in love with him. Sure, they got close very quickly!! But I’d love to see rogue again.

Can rogue travel in time as well??

Also, I’m not a fan of the sonic screwdriver either. It has some cool new abilities, but does it really have to look like an old computer mouse? 🤪

…hmmmmm!… I just thought of something… Russel T Davis loves playing around with anagrams…

Torchwood = Doctor Who

S Triad
= Tardis

What’s left?..

Ruby = Bury?… as in… burying someone who dies in an episode?…

Russell T Davies = Luvs les Tardis?… a Frenchman describing Russell T’s obsession with The Tardis?… (this is me just being a smart arse lol!)…

…yes… I had an idle moment… I need to get a life!… cheers.

…I’ve been thinking of this too inmeenu… you know in the last episode when Rogue said to The Doctor… “find me”… just before he pushed the button… and in the promo’s for next week’s episode they keep saying… “he who waits”… what if Rogue waited an eternity hoping that The Doctor would release him from it but never found him in all his future adventures and because of that has the complete shits about it and has come back from Rogues future to wreak revenge on The Doctor?…

…I know that it’s a bit of a stretch but what if ‘he who waits’ is a vengeful Rogue?… after all… he has to be called ‘Rogue’ for a reason doesn’t he?… (nothing worse than a lover scorned is there?… lol!)… and I did say in the post before this that I had an idle moment didn’t I?… lol!…

…this made me snort my Rum through my nose my friend lol!…

…cheers. 😬

Oooooh that would certainly be a twist!!!

…I’m watching Christopher Eccleston as The Doctor in ‘Fathers Day’ on the ABC’s Kid’s Family channel and I’m now realising just how good he was at being The Doctor… they really should’ve held on to him as The Doctor for a few more seasons methinks… he played him so well… it’s a pity really… cheers.

Chris wanted to leave unfortunately. He did not enjoy the behind the scenes work with RTD and other executive producers, and was quite unhappy.
This clip was from a view months ago about a potential return to Doctor Who.

This made me sad knowing this.
But David Tennant loves RTD. So does Ncuti. . I guess things had to change behind the scenes when David came on board.

NEXT TIME: Empire of Death.
The Doctor has lost, his ageless enemy reigns supreme, and a shadow is falling over creation. Nothing can stop the devastation... except, perhaps, one woman.
