So who suddenly feels wide awake? Lol.

That was tense, and had some really interesting concepts (again).
Great to have a different style through the program.

I really need to absorb that though, and watch again ... my dogs were play fighting so I missed a couple of bits.
Really looking forward to hearing what you all think.

P.S. I love 1940s/1950s music, love me a bit of Mr Sandman. I won't think of it quite the same again.

I need to watch it again to absorb it too, but it was great. Genuinely scary in parts, and sand monsters made out of the grit in the corner of your eye and dead skin cells is such a great, new idea. It was also pretty funny, and had a great line about "Silurians".
I liked "Chopra" very much, in fact someone like him would make a good companion (and not bad eye candy either if you're that way inclined)....
My only quibble is I'm not sure I liked the ending much.

Yes I'm not sure about the ending either, but I'll wait til I re-watch, my silly adorable dogs were quite a distraction, so they broke the flow. And the way it was filmed, the flow was really important in this ep.

I agree Meglos, the sand monsters were a great new idea, and I also loved the concept of not having to sleep to 'get ahead'. And while they didn't explore the concept of the grunts as much as I thought they would have, that's just the sort of thing I love, like Oods. Ok the Oods were beautiful with their songs, but how loyal and reliable was that grunt, that is beautiful in it's own way.

And I thought Chopra was cute too. Why do they kill off the cute ones? Lol.

Did I miss the opening credits? I didn't notice them.

Oh shit, I didn't even realise, all I remember was seeing "DOCTOR WHO" and "CLARA OSWALD" in the change between the bloke speaking and the crew entering the ship

Oooooooooooo what will become of sand in the head Clara?
Is Clara still impossible? Will she forever be a clone kind of that pops up again.

That was a really spooky episode, and I am glad to be back in the DW weekly/fortnightly groove.

Avoided BBBA as I missed DW for the first time during Cup stuff, visitors from Sydney, parties, & etc. - I bet on Michelle. woohoo, love her, so I won $80, shame I didn't go for the win would have been $500.
I have never, ever won a bet - I commonly get the wooden spoon for my horse coming last in Cup draws.

So, for the first time I watched a 2-parter together catching up, Zygons Inversion/Invasion,
and I was underwhelmed, it felt like Moff is too lazy to come up with 12 ideas and just dragged the entire thing out.
I don't get the fan thing for geeky science girl.
I need to see it all again - you all liked it, perhaps I was just grumpying again.
Seems I need to see pt 1 repeated before pt 2, probably my old brain.

...all credit to the Dr Who team for them trying yet another new idea and novel way of telling a story... although I got a little lost at times and wasn't sure exactly what was going on I managed to catch up with the story once I figured some things out... I found it really hard to like any of that rescue crew I'm afraid... especially that 'Chopra' guy... I really didn't care if any or all of the crew died or not to be honest... actually that's a lie... I liked that 'grunt guy' and was hoping that he didn't die because he was the only one that I actually liked because they considered him to be 'disposable' which is such a horrible thing to do...

...'The Moff' sure is exploring all sides of our phobia's isn't he?... 'don't blink'... 'it's what you can't you see from the corner of your eye'... 'don't breathe' and now 'the sleep in your eye'... what's next... don't fart or sneeze?... lol!... (actually the expression 'bless you' when you sneezed originated way back in lore because they believed that the Devil would try to jump into your body while your body senses were down whilst sneezing!)... so there may be a story in that somewhere I guess?... lol!...

...the special effects yet again were really sensational to say the least... they were second to none... when Reece Shearsmith's head slowly went to dust I was mesmerised as to how great an effect that was... all credit to them for that... I must say that each time I watch a new episode of Doctor Who that I have become distracted from the story because all I'm thinking is... 'is this the episode where Clara dies?'... it side tracks me all the time I'm afraid... I'm just hoping that Clara eventually just 'moves on' and doesn't die... (are you reading this 'The Moff'?)...

...another thing that is niggling away at me is that Capaldi's Doctor is now wearing those stupid 'sonic sunnies' and he was wearing them in rooms that had no lights on!... it looks quite ridiculous.. it's like watching Z grade bad guys in Z grade movies!... and also one other thing that is starting to annoy me is that Capaldi's Doctor is always looking directly into the camera and directly at us as of late more and more often... I enjoyed him doing that for a couple of episodes as a novelty factor but what it is doing for me is taking away a little of The Doctor's 'aloofness' and his 'mystique'... I wish that they would stop doing that now...

...the ending was as abrupt as the beginning wasn't it?... the constant 'point of view' camera work was a tad bit annoying for me after a while but I put up with it just to see what ends up happening... the story overall was a great concept... it makes you want to never fall asleep again lol!... but the story was too 'higglety-pigglety' for me... there were too many distractions with the constant free movements of the camera for me... after all of the constant superb past episodes I guess that we were always in for a 'not too great' episode eventually... this was it for me I'm afraid... don't get me wrong though... it was still a really good episode but not a great one as far as I'm concerned... cheers.

lol, part of the fun is having differing opinions.
I love Osgood, kxk doesn't, that's fine, same with Mr Stickyfingers not digging Chopra.

I agree that the part of the "grunt" was very well portrayed. Did you know that was actually Doctor Who's first speaking role for a transgender actor?

@Mr Stickyfingers
@BigBrotherCritic
@nutmeg
I hope you're scared witless by tonight's episode (in the nicest possible way)

...I did find the story quite scary in parts Meglos but as I said... I just had too many distractions within the show to appreciate those scares methinks...

I need to watch it again to absorb it too, but it was great. Genuinely scary in parts, and sand monsters made out of the grit in the corner of your eye and dead skin cells is such a great, new idea. It was also pretty funny, and had a great line about "Silurians".

My only quibble is I'm not sure I liked the ending much.

...since writing my post before about not liking 'Chopra' the most... I'm pretty sure that I disliked him when he said... "isn't that what the grunt is for?"... when talking about a sacrifice being needed in order for them all to survive... I really didn't like him from that point onwards... I agree with you Meglos... the ending was a tad bit meh! for me too... cheers.from

I do agree about the sonic glasses, I don't know anyone who likes them. Maybe you have to be under 12 to be amused by it. I think it's Moffat's biggest mistake since the teletubby daleks, and he back-tracked on that so there's always hope!

...oh really?... the first transgender actor?... colour me impressed!... kudo's to them for that!... and yes... I do agree with you about the differing opinions and differing likes and dislikes within this forum... but the best part in those differing opinions etc is the fact that we have never had people fighting or squabbling with each other about our differing opinions within this thread ever!...... I have been in some Dr Who forums where they turn on each other like rabid hyena's... I never go on those websites anymore... just this one because of the constant civility and good manners of everyone that is involved with it... and for that... I thank you all... cheers.

...when Clara was dragged into that sleep capsule I thought she was being changed into a dust creature and that was how she was going to go out of the series because The Doctor turned and said to one of the crew... "you said that this machine is more than just a sleep capsule"... (or something similar)... but I guess that I was wrong... that's one thing about this episode... so many twists and turns in it... cheers.

Conjunctivitis - I have been trying to recall that childhood bug we all got, when you wake up blind your eyes stuck closed with goop gone crusty, erk. DW is so gloriously evocative and manipulative of childhood memories and conditions, fears and dreams and wishes.

Have you seen this? Beyond adorable, if you feel sad this will cheer you up. If you are a David fan you may just swoon...

...OH MY!... thankyou so much for those videos kxk!!!!!... I will forever love you for bringing those clips to my attention!!!... that was so fantastic to see David virtually crying with humbleness when it dawned on him that it was him that was receiving all of the accolades for all of his work on television etc... I've always loved David's work and that reward he so deserved in my opinion... I've watched it 4 times so far and it won't be the last... you've made my day kxk!!!!... it was so great to hear them all say that he has no great ego and is so humble too... it confirms that my like for him is because he is just that!... what a great guy... what a great actor... his face during that tribute to him brought me close to tears too lol... he was so shocked and humbled by it and it showed so well on his face... I've said just recently a few pages back in this thread that Capaldi is nudging Tennant for the title as 'the best Doctor' in my books not so long ago but I'm all Tennant again now!... what a great bloke... now to watch it again... thanks once again kxk... XXXX... cheers.

Ditto @Mr Stickyfingers - it is glorious isn't it. I teared up too.
And whenever I feel like crap in these dire times, it sure does you good to see such a sweet man.

I am happy he is happy all the time - as his fantastic Broadchurch co-star claims.

And aww, they are sooooooooooooo in love, my heart warms when you see her shining eyes, and how they are so connected and lovely.
And the cherry on top = ooooooooooo Dad, and Dad is just like him.
And how funny - I wonder what lies were told, when you see the seating later, and he is with everyone we know has co-starred with him

And - those guys presenting, the Proclaimers, LOL, have you seen all of the little clips of David singing 100miles with anyone and everyone?
Doctor Who - just keeps giving doesn't it.

...I loved his reaction the two times that his father came on the screen... especially the first time... to know that his father was so proud of him started him tearing up... also I loved what Russell T Davis had to say about him... the glowing reports that he gave of David showed me that he held him in such high esteem too... David and his wife do look very much in love don't they?... once again kxk... thankyou so much for posting those videos... cheers.
