Doctor Who

I was going to come here and make jokes about Basil and browser histories, but by the time we got to the end I was just blown away.
Complex, and yes, simplistic too.
But amazing concepts and most importantly, amazing performances.
This was a defining episode for Peter.

It was magnificent wasn't it? Peter was brilliant, getting to be both serious and funny, and Clara/Bonnie finally got to shine, which she hasn't really this season. Both Osgoods were also terrific.
Loved the Doctor referring to Sullivan's gas as imbecile gas (from Revenge Of The Cybermen when the Doctor called Harry an imbecile).
Loved that we were reminded that the Zygons are just babies. Loved Zigella.
We need more of these kind of stories.
Isn't this season great? Not a dull moment so far.

Holy Fuck....

I was exactly the same @nutmeg

I am blown away, I enjoyed this episode so much that I want to watch it 30 times again! I was on edge for all of it AND HOLY GOD THE DOCTOR'S MONOLOGUE is probably now one of my all time favourite Doctor Who Moments. Peter Capaldi is such a great Doctor! I believed every politically relevant word!

I love that Capaldi is less about action, this Doctor is more about Psychological Warfare, outwitting his enemies.

TheMoff.Jpeg is doing a fantastic job! I honestly think that he is one of the best writers to work for a TV show ever. His stories are so clever and smart that I can't help but adore Doctor Who.

Have you ever seen Press Gang?

...I totally agree with all of you about this episode and series... fantastic!... a few things that I observed... when Jenna plays Clara as cold and heartless she does it magnificently... just her cold facial expressions actually sent shivers down my spine...it was great to see the 'nasty' side of her character even if she was a Zygon... it showed to me what depth Jenna actually has as an actress... I'm so going to miss her when she leaves...

...secondly... the rapport between The Doctor and Osgood on that beach together kind of makes me think that The Moff is preparing us to see Osgood as a permanent companion to him in the very near future... he did ask her if she would like to travel with them didn't he?... (he actually looked a tad bit disappointed when she said 'no' didn't he?)... perhaps in the next episode... perhaps before Christmas... let's face it... with Clara about to leave the timing would be perfect wouldn't it?... have one Osgood working for Unit... the other travelling with The Doctor permanently on The Tardis... the best of both worlds really... after all... 2 Osgoods working side by side at Unit wouldn't make much sense would it?... just saying... besides... it would be really funny if The Doctor was never told whether it was the 'human Osgood' or whether it was the 'Zygon Osgood' travelling with him... it would do The Doctor's head in not knowing wouldn't it?... lol!...

...when The Doctor asks Osgood what her first name was and she replies "what's yours?"... he says... "Basil!"... she replies... "Petronella!"... he says... "let's stick with what we had!"... (The Doctor and Osgood)...:laugh::laugh:... I'm loving it that Osgood won't reveal which Osgood she is... it makes the dynamics between the two really shine out as far as I'm concerned...

...the fact that The Doctor has been working closer and closer with Unit makes me think back to the Pertwee years where The Doctor was always working alongside Kate Lethbridge Stewart's dad all those years ago... it's that same kind of 'vibe' for me... I actually like the idea... it's better for The Doctor to be working with Unit on Earth rather than the 'Paternoster Gang' in my opinion... (I find them quite annoying to be truthful)...

...Capaldi owns his role as The Doctor with gusto now for sure... as you all know... David Tennant is my favourite all time Doctor but Jeez... Capaldi is now nudging that honour... it is so close at the moment with me I can tell you!... lol!...

...seeing William Hartnell in that frame on the wall was such a buzz to see again... I so love it when they arc back to the previous series and show bits like that... 'Zygella' is a hoot!... :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:...

..."5 rounds rapid!"... (Kate's answer to The Doctor on how she survived the Zygon lol!... (her dad would've been so proud eh?)... lol!...

...The Doctor's speech during that 'game show' scene was truly magnificent... some of the best dialogue ever written for any Dr Who show in my opinion... a magnificent performance indeed... as you all said nutmeg/Meglos/BigBrotheCritic and reepbot... brilliant performances all round... and I too hope that Capaldi gets some sort of award for that performance reepbot... it would be so well deserved...

...that Zygon guy that just wanted to be left alone played such a great part for me... the poor bugger just wanted to be left alone... I really felt for him being in that situation... the special effects where they change from human to Zygon and back are really up there with the best you can get aren't they?... all credit to the show for that...

...haha!... what a great ending... I was originally gutted when Missy killed Osgood and was really dubious when The Moff resurrected her and did a duplicate Zygon of her but man I'm loving what The Moff has done with Osgood's character... I really don't believe that he would be putting in all of this hard work into her character if he wasn't preparing her to replace Clara when she goes... I believe that when he killed off Osgood at Missy's hands that he was probably shocked at how much the fans protested about her dying and that is when it twigged with him that everyone loves Osgood so much so that he brought her back to be The Doctors next companion... well that's my theory anyway... that backlash from the fans would've been the clincher for Osgood's return in my books...

...anyhow... enough of my ramblings... great episode... great performances... can it ever get better?... of course it can!... this is Doctor Who we're talking about peoples!... lol!... cheers.

Hello Mr Sticky!
It's a nice idea, and I would have loved Osgood to have become a companion too, but Moffat has pretty much denied it. He said it worked once with Donna, but he wants to make the new companion a jumping-on point for new fans.
I'm just grateful Osgood survived, and there are two of them! (Don't know if you can say "her" - not sure if Zygons have genders, or can take on the form of either).

...hey Meglos my good friend... the thing is... when The Moff denies anything to do with the plot lines then it instantly goes to the 50/50 basket... either it will happen or it won't... so I'm in the hope that Osgood (human or Zygon) gets the gig... I guess that we'll just have to wait and see eh?... that's the great thing about this show... there are endless different directions that it could eventually go... such is the dynamic of the show... I love it!... cheers.

I want to see a companion be either

A. From historical times.

B. An alien planet.

...technically... one of the Osgood's is an alien lol!... but someone from an alien planet would be interesting because maybe it's a change from human companions to an alien one that is needed at this timelime onwards?... only The Moff knows I guess...

...I would like a person from historical times to be a companion too reepbot... just imagine someone that has never seen anything to do with modern technology?... say someone from Leonardo Da Vinci's time for instance?... the feelings of wonderment that the character would have?... Clara's great but she always has a Mobile Phone in her hand nowadays... almost every episode now it seems... I liked it when Doctor Who and all of his companions never had Mobile Phones... it made for better storylines in my books...

...getting back to what I was saying... a person from historical times that is slowly introduced into modern technology by The Doctor would be an amazing unravelling to watch... as I said... the feelings of wonderment that the person would have... just trying to grasp the concept of television... cars... phones... air travel... tanks... modern weapons... what if that person was an apprentice of Leonardo Da Vinci and he/she saw all of those things and when he or she was eventually dropped back to their time and relayed it all to Leonardo Da Vinci...
what if those tales eventually led to Leonardo's inventions?... haha!...sorry... it's just me going out on a tangent there... Leonardo Da Vinci is my all time most favourite historical figure lol!... back to reality now...

...either of those scenarios of yours reepbot would be great as far as I'm concerned for sure... cheers.
