...as a side note:...

...as I've stated on so many previous occasions before that I've really hated this Tardis interior since it's conception... but I must say that I'm loving all of the books in shelves that are being placed all around the walls of the Tardis... and also I love the blackboard idea too... these things are actually adding some personal touches into the console room at last!... take note of the bookshelves as pointed out with the arrows... the red one is the blackboard...

...I put Peter Capaldi in it too because just for once we can actually see him smiling and looking extremely happy that Clara is staying with him... it's very rare for us to see him smile... lol!... cheers.

I liked the episode but the concept borrowed heavily from the Christmas special with Kylie.

WHENNN is Pink going to start travelling with them?

...Tim I've got a sneaking suspicion that when Moffatt introduced Peter Capaldi to us at the end of last year/beginning of this year that he was waiting to see if we all accepted him as the new Doctor before introducing any other new characters into the mix... seeing that the majority of us has accepted Capaldi he must have decided to go to the next step and introduce a boyfriend for Clara as a new character... he's put him in and out of the episodes to test the waters on our acceptance of Danny Pink before having him riding with them on a more permanent basis methinks...

...if he gets enough good reviews on Danny Pink then I expect to see him permanently on the Tardis in the Christmas episode onwards as a hunch... there aren't too many episodes left for this year now... hence my thoughts of it being the Christmas episode that he makes his permanent debut... cheers.

Anyone think Perkins had something to do with Gus???

What do you guys think about the frequency of soldiers as themes in the shows this season?

I loved the timer in the corner of the screen! It kept the story in real time and I imagine you could get really nervous if you really immersed yourself in the story. I know I certainly was! A great story! Next weeks episode looks very weird but should be good!

Peter Capaldi is great in the role.
Jenna Coleman on the other hand - I can't wait until she exits the series, easily one of the worst companions ever, she was dull with Matt Smith and she is even duller with Pete Capaldi.

...oh for sure... he looked like he was on the verge of whacking The Doctor on the noggin with that wrench for a few seconds there at one stage... but I think that he may have had a silent message transmitted to him by Gus not to do it... hence the reason for the sudden pleasantries instead...

...Perkins may be yet another Hologram or perhaps even an android under the command of Gus methinks... if he was just another Hologram it may explain why he didn't take up The Doctor's offer to travel with him... perhaps if he did he would've been transported out of the range of the control of Gus if he did?... how far would Gus's control of a Hologram extend?... through a certain distance he my have long range control but through Time to?... I doubt it... all the more reason not to allow Perkins to go methinks!... it's all just a theory on my part though Rose711...

...in regards to the frequency of soldiers as themes in the shows... it does seem to be a predominant part of it doesn't it?... perhaps somebody is 'collecting' these soldiers to pit them up against The Doctor for his 'past crimes' against the universe or something?... but then again... it was all done in Matt Smith's era with 'The Pandorica' storyline... who knows what Moffatt's up to?... Moffatt sure does like sewing the seeds for recurring storyline arcs so anything is possible really isn't it?... cheers.

...back on the subject of the new bookcases in The Tardis... (a clearer shot here in the image that up_all_night posted some pages back)...

...I wonder if The Doctor built them himself or does he get people in to do the renovations for him?... lol!... imagine a local handyman getting a call to do some carpentry for The Tardis...or even Electricians or Plumbers?... now that is a storyline that I'd LOVE to see!!!... if The Doctor does all of the maintenance on The Tardis himself then he sure is a versatile man indeed!... just some random thoughts there on my part lol!... cheers.

... welcome to the forums Evan44... enjoy the madness that we all visit each day!...

...oh wow!... you're the first person that I've seen on here from memory that doesn't like Clara... it's great to have a differing opinion on here!... I love her myself in the role... (but she'll never replace Donna Noble or Rose Tyler or Tegan for me)... so what is it that you don't like about the Impossible Girl?... I'm intrigued!...

...I have to admit... when she started off with Matt Smith I thought that she was as boring as batshit but since Capaldi came on board Moffatt seems to have given her more intelligence and a lot more grunt... to me she's becoming better as time goes on... she's a lot better than she first was... as I asked before... what are your reasons for disliking her?... I'm curious...

...again... welcome my friend... cheers.

He dressed like the First Doctor
Offered Jelly Babies like Tom Baker
flapped his arms about like Matt Smith
And said "Are you my mummy?" From Eccelstons era..

What other hidden gems are in this episode?
Wow. I have to watch again. There had to be some call backs to my favorite Doctor, David Tennant. I noticed on UK media there were a number of cameos that were recognized by British fans. I didn't recognize anyone.

FyI: there was an older show, with Tom Baker I think, that had mummies in it. The mummies were Egyptian and two of them and their master took over an Enlish country house. I don't remember much more though.

I think Capaldi is a fantastic actor and away from Clara, on his own, he really just owns the role.
She pulls him down, though I think she is very pretty, he is a much, much better actor.
I like her. She was a great improvement, for me anyway, over Amy Pond, who I never really warmed up to.
I'm so glad you guys like to discuss Doctor Who.

By the way, BBC radio 4extra has been running a really good, complex radio story with the Doctor. It's too bad that most the episodes are no longer available online, but the last two are. May be hard to follow everything though. I wish they would just leave all the episodes up! You can listen to the episodes on their player, it isn't country restricted.

...Rose711... I felt exactly the same as you in regards to Amy Pond... she seemed so cold to me... (Martha Jones did nothing for me either... she was cold to me too)... Rory was just the poor doting doofus that followed her around like a puppy dog as far as I'm concerned... I think that's why I took to Clara so quickly... Amy was cold... Clara was hot... (no... I'm not talking in a pervey way either lolol!)... Clara had such warmth and feelings which was a big change from Amy for me... if Amy wasn't cold then perhaps I wouldn't feel this way towards Clara... who knows I guess?...

...and you're so right about peter Capaldi... he is definitely a better actor by milestones!... (or should that be kilometrestones?... lol!)... cheers.

If I was guessing about the soldier theme, I think maybe they are all pawns, or tests the Doctor is going through and each one is getting a little harder.

I don't think they will all assemble against him at the end, but maybe something else is controlling them.

...I don't know what is wrong with me today but I seem to be obsessed with these bloody books and the bookcases at the monent... BUT... as I was filing this image I noticed the Gallifreyan writing above the individual bookcases... (arrowed of course because I'm so over obsessive at times)...I wonder what it says?... probably something like... 'The History of Earth and Human Beings... all of their Fuck Ups of The 18th Century A-Z'... or something similar lol!... any other suggestions peoples?... lol!...

...okay... I'll shut up about those bloody books and bookcases now... I promise!... lolol!... cheers.

...hey that's a great take on that theory!... you may be onto something... hmmmmm!... great food for thought there... cheers.

Has anyone seen the Doctor Who porn parody called "Doctor Whore" ?

It's actually hilarious, lots of references to the show.

I can't link to it directly because I'm at work but search for "Doctor Whore wood rocket". Obviously NSFW but easy to skip past the sex if you don't want to watch (no offence, but heterosexual sex just doesn't butter my bread).

It's from the same company who did a Spongebob Squarepants porn and just released a Bobs Burgers one.

I disagree. I didn't care for her at all with Matt Smith. But with Capaldi she is something else!! Her rant last episode - best. eva.

Mr Sticky!! Those book cases!! I forgot about them.

Would you say they' reminiscent of the 7th Doctors TARDIS. Just reminds me of the regeneration scene in the TV Movie. It was a very gothic like tardis, with bookcases and arm chairs...

So many throwbacks in this episode! I think I need to watch it again!!!

His Scottishness went missing a lot this ep.
He goes posh pom offering the jelly babies.
UK fans reckon it is Tom Baker's voice/impression when he talks to himself - I didn't hear that.

Clara
If I was Jenna I would beg, borrow or steal that sexy frock, she looked divine.
I have loved Clara since souffle girl in the dalek. She has had some wonderful moments. Lovely with John Hurt & 50th.

But some things are clanging, the sudden change at the end, the lies. I will be interested to see how she unfolds with her valium boyfriend - sorry he is too stoned for me at this point, maybe if he comes of the PTSD meds he will improve.

Capaldi is just sensational. His every little subtle eye move, and how he can flick out those asides you miss first time.

And some news about -

Moffat: Peter Jackson Episode Will Probably Happen

Steven Moffat has said that Peter Jackson’s (Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit) long-mooted Doctor Who episode will probably happen “at some point”.

Speaking in the latest issue of SFX, Moffat said: “He’s still incredibly busy on The Hobbit. I’ve spoken to him face to face, and he would like to do one. He accepts that there’s no money and that there’s no time, and it would have to be when he’s available – and I don’t think he’s even been available enough to answer our emails of late!

“I think it will probably happen at some point. I mean, he can do what the hell he likes – he owns New Zealand! I think he’s sincere in his Doctor Who fandom, to say the least. He’s a nice guy, he quite often drops me a line after a show goes out. He’s into it – it’s just “Can you make it work?”

“I think he would also like us to go and make it in New Zealand! And I’m like “Okaaay… I’d rather we just flew you to Cardiff!””

Oh and @stickyfingers, I love your bookcase obsession, I may never have noticed that, and it is lovely.

And what eclectic tastes and interests we Whovians have - @Tim, LOL.
I bet you are like a living archive of weird stuff on the net owning this community@!

I'm not easy to please by any stretch, but i've loved ALL of the new series companions, from Rose through to Captain Jack on the other end of the spectrum, and including Clara, and Martha, who cops a lot of flack here.
That's the good thing about opinions though - everyone's favourites are different, and for differing reasons.
