loved it myself
and I get anti extremist IS vibes from the evil monks plot

Whovians is turning out to be a great little show, with plenty of good info, and a really top notch guest list -
love how they keep giving us really big Who people every week
Agree, they are clearly trying to be political (as they should, they've always done that well) ... the 'fake news' theme was interesting

I hope Missy is genuinely going through a transformation as it would be cool to watch - and then she probably just regens into crazy
simms
Jordan got a bit of air, probs better with just 3 on the couches, the new person often gets too much attention & is often boring

I really liked the episode, though I was hoping for a bit more oppression at the start ... sadly, I like that stuff in DW, lol.

I also thought at the start that it seemed like the revolutionist Martha episode when the Master held the Doctor (and the world) captive for a year, but I was thinking: this was how it should have been done in the first place. No telekinesis or whatever humanity-bonded-bullshit that happened there ... but wait, hang on ... this episode totally went there from a different angle.

Am I romanticising Classic Who by saying that it was more about science (and lucky escapes) than love conquering all?

Different times need different things, we do need all the peace & love messages we can get, back then they needed science to push them to our new level of loving geeks....during those primitive times smart was not appreciated and boy it took a long time until it was - basically techies making mega bucks

Talking retro, I went to a Ross Wilson session/concert today, he is still great, Come Said the Boy love that song, and met him after, his daughter sang she is a powerhouse and tiny

Yeah I'm with the Whovians - still a bit on the fence about the Monk stories altogether. But I haven't rewatched any of them yet, that might have to wait til next weekend. But for the moment...

Woot. Celia Pacquola on next week!

As to whether Missy is faking or not, I did notice that her tear was on the cheek the Doctor couldn't see.

The vault with Missy reminded me of the scene from Silence of the Lambs.

I enjoyed it, but the monks never really won me over, and it's a shame they devoted (I won't say wasted) three episodes on them. The best things by far were the performances of Pearl and Michelle. I could happily watch a show full of Missy's adventures.

Whovians was nice - Pearl is awesome and it was great to see Jordan again.

Btw, Class is officially cancelled now. I don't know if anyone else on here liked it, but I thought it was pretty good, and had potential, with a great cast, especially Ms Quill. Everyone on facebook seems to be celebrating as they all hated it. Fans really annoy me sometimes.

So we had the right vibe......
'The Pyramid at the End of the World......small edit
Doctor Who is removing a reference to terrorism in a small part of its dialogue for this weekend's episode, following the Manchester terror attack.

'The Pyramid at the End of the World' sees the Doctor investigate a 5,000-year-old pyramid which has inexplicably appeared in the middle of a war zone between the Chinese, Russian, and American armies.

RadioTimes reports that the uncut version sees terrorism very briefly mentioned during a conversation about wider threats to humanity.

Doctor Who series 10, episode 8: 8 HUGE questions and theories after 'The Lie of the Land'
Is Missy really turning "good"?

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/doctor...r-who-series-10-episode-8-theories-questions/

...this weeks episode... (the close of the Monkees trilogy I hope)... I love The Doctor's soothing narration.... he's like the David Attenborough of the Sci-Fi world at times for me lol!... jeez Bill's looking all down and out isn't she?... oh... I just realised that the episode will be about the consequences of her agreeing with the Monkees in order for The Doctor to get his eyesight back eh?... oh I get it... the Monkees are now running the world now due to Bill's agreement... I was a tad bit confused about what was happening for a while there...

...so it's an 'Orwelllian' society now... yep!... I get it now... hahaha!... Bill and Nardole scaring the shit out of each other lol!... so Bill's talking to her dead mum now eh?... how many more episodes until she figures out that hey!... Time Machine... dead mum... hello!... GO BACK IN TIME AND SEE HER BILL!... "I had an imaginary friend once... he left me for someone else!"... says Nardole... hahaha!... the reason that I'm laughing so much at that line is because I used to say something similar to it in my teens in the late 60's and early 70's... it used to go like this...

...my mum once told us that because I was the oldest one of us 3 kids that before my brother and sister came along I as a young kid had an imaginary friend and our family Doctor at the time told mum and dad that I had the imaginary friend because I needed to have a brother or sister and that my friend would go away when either came along... well eventually my younger brother came along and my mum told everybody that my imaginary friend actually then disappeared... my brother loved telling people that so eventually I had had enough of it and finally said one day as a joke... "the only reason that my imaginary friend went was because he actually liked you more than me and I got rid of him!... that's why he went!... okay?"... everyone cracked up from me saying that and it's been a continuing running joke for over 50 odd years since!... lol!... that's why I laughed at Nardole's line... it was so similar... lol!... now back to Doctor Who...

...so it's been 6 months since Bill made her agreement and now all of Earth think that the Monkees have been there forever... hmmmmm... totally opposite to The Silence I suppose... Bill hits Nardole on the arm and he says... "that really has to stop!"... lol!... so The Doctor is being held a prisoner on an old prison ship then... okey dokies!... moving on... so apparently the Captain of that supply ship's son is in prison for 10 years because he owned a box of COMICS???????... WTF?... that sounds ridiculous to me and it should be a 'Sticky nit-picky' time' but I won't say anything... moving on...

...hmmmmm!... doesn't it seem a tad bit too easy that Bill and Nardole are able to break into this place to rescue The Doctor or am I just overly suspicious?... I smell a rat... "Doctor... it's me!"... um... I think that he would know that Bill without the announcement somehow sweetie lol!... and he calls the guards in?... what the?.... and he calls the Monkees too?... (he's up to something methinks!)...

...Pearl Mackie's emotional expression and acting range is absolutely incredible isn't it?... she can say so much with just a single expression for me... why is The Doctor being so hard on her?... so he's betrayed Mankind?... haha!... I hardly think so somehow lol!... as I said... he's up to something... I can feel it in my water lol!... so Bill is holding up a gun to The Doctor now?... something really is up here... WTF?... so it's Bill that shoots him and not Missy????... bloody hell!... Bill sure was quick to shoot The Doctor dead wasn't she?... (remind me never to piss Bill off in the future will you?)... why would she be so quick in wanting to commit murder?... it doesn't seem like Bill would do something like that to me... is this an alternate Universe type of thing or something?... again I resist the temptation to do a 'Sticky nit-picky' time' type of rant... but that's just not like Bill to do that... but!... shut up Sticky and move on...

...aaaaah!... NOW is the regeneration time is it?... I have a theory (get squirt bottle ready)... what if The Doctor regenerates with John Simm's 'Master face' and that HE'S the new Doctor Who?... that's who is replacing Peter Capaldi... John Simms?????... (although... I still get the feeling that Capaldi isn't leaving for some reason that I don't understand)... as I said... it's just a theory (start squirting the water folks!)... lol!...

...huh?... a fake mini regeneration just to test Bill?... hows that supposed to test her?... she doesn't even know that he's capable of regeneration... and she's not even questioning about what the hell is all the glowing stuff about?... why isn't she asking him about that ffs?... oh that's right... she didn't even know that he was BLIND for a few episodes did she?... why all of a sudden have they dumbed Bill down as of late?... they are now writing her character as an idiot of late for some unknown reason or other?... please stop doing that now whoever is writing this stuff... Bill is not stupid!... grrrrr!... again... no 'Sticky nit-picky' time' type of rant... (I did way too many in the last 2 or 3 episode reviews back)...

...that test was really cruel to do on Bill as far as I'm concerned... and she still isn't asking him about the glowy thing either... that seems so strange to me... hahaha!... "I'm going to beat the shi..."... and The Doctor interrupts her as she goes to thump Nardole lol!... so!... back at the University once again and they're finally going to show us Missy at last!... so it was her in the Vault all the time!... fair enough... it's not who I thought it would be so well done them... what is this?... a 'Hannibal Lecter' movie or something?... lol!... how does Missy go for a poo or whatever?... I see no toilet so... anyhow... moving on...

...god this is a long-winded episode this time isn't it?... or is it just me?... in fact... I haven't really enjoyed this trilogy as much as the rest of the episodes this year... the whole 3 of them seem long-winded to me now that I think of it... (although... the original series used to have stories over several weeks didn't they?... so I shouldn't be so whingey about it I guess?)... lol!... Nardole does a 'Vulcan death grip' on a guard and calls it something else lol!... funny as!...

...I like the 'mind meld' battle between The Doctor and one of the Monkees... now it's Bill's turn?... huh?... why Bill?... I don't get it?... so she's going to die for a 3rd or is it the 4th time now?... oh I see... she's 'pure'... she's going to do alright then I suppose?... oh gawd... Bill's saving the world through the love of her dead mum?... oh ffs!... that's just as sappy as when David Tennant's Doctor saved the world by getting everyone around the world simultaneously chanting "Doctor... Doctor... Doctor!" over and over to defeat John Simm's Master through prayer!... what?... we've been waiting 3 episodes for a sappy wishy washy ending like this to defeat the Monkees?... what an instant soft on that is!...we've been gypped!... oh bugger it!... I've resisted all night but...

'Sticky nit-picky' time #1... what a piss poor ending to the trilogy with Bill defeating the Monkees with 'love'... there!... I've said it!...

'Sticky nit-picky' time #2... why have they 'dumbed down' Bill for this trilogy?... not knowing that he was BLIND for 3 shows... not asking about why The Doctor was all 'glowy' for a few seconds?... and... why make her suddenly so 'trigger happy' in being so quick to shoot The Doctor dead?... it's not in her characters nature to do something like that... the writers have failed so miserably in doing that in my opinion...

...okay... I'll shut up now and will move on... somehow I don't think that we've seen the last of the Monkees that's for sure... and now to Missy... it's not the Missy that we all know and love is it?... awwwww!... I love my 'nasty Missy'... not 'miss goodey two-shoes Missy' lol!... I hope that THAT changes soon lol!... end of show...

...so it's 'Rorkes Drift V the Ice Warriors' next week... that should be interesting... I remember the Ice Warriors from the original series... they should be great fun to see the new versions of them... can't wait!... cheers.

...hahaha!... we must have the same mind-set oddjob!... I laughed my head off when I posted my mine and then saw this!... lol!... funny as!...

...haha!... I said much the same in my post too... it would've sufficed with making it a two-parter instead of 3 methinks!... cheers.

...that would be about right Meglos... I'll tell you a secret... even though I would've never had admitted it... even though I roasted the shit out of that show it was slowly winning me over due to Miss Quill carrying that show for me... that's just so typical... bummer!... cheers.

OMG I love your theory @Mr Stickyfingers .....Dr Simms

And oooooooooo at one point Capaldi sounded just like old Tom Baker narrating

And he is getting more and more like the Mad Hatter every episode.....that would be neat, and Alice in Wonderland Doctor episode

Missy is all crazy Mary Poppins and the Doctor is the Mad Hatter, his clothes are all faded and worn and dusty....why???

Goodness me. I wish they left the monks with just the Vatican episode.

I loved the first episode. Absolutely brilliant.

But Pyramid and Lie of the land. Totally lost me. Sheesh. So glad the monks are over now.

4 episodes to go. I hope they move it back into top gear!!
