Columbo
Never again
Looking forward to it! Sarah Jane Adventures was awesome, hopefully Class will be similar, if a bit darker/more mature.
Yeah hopefully it will be good. Give us something to watch now that there is going to be no doctor who this year apart from the christmas special.

Yes thankfully some kind of DW, and if you click on that ref at the end of the post it brings up an interview with Moff & Capaldi talking about the Doctor making appearances
Now - have you seen adds on the ABC for this -
"Dangerous" Davies always gets the cases no one else wants, and no one notices when he eventually succeeds. But his old-fashioned decency and dogged determination have won him legions of loyal fans.
He's gentle, old-fashioned, and decent; nice even when he's drunk. But these qualities only earn Detective Constable "Dangerous" Davies the scorn of his fellow detectives in a small London police station. His boss tells him straight out that he's the last detective he would assign to a major crime-solving mission. Unlucky in love, rumpled, and accident prone, Dangerous muddles on and, with the help of his eccentric friend Mod, he proves the merits of his dogged, unglamorous method. He likes being a detective and, occasionally, he gets to do some good.
[looking at a suicide victim in the mortuary]
Dangerous Davies: Are you sure that he's dead?
Pathologist: Well I do have his brain in a jar here. So I presume he's dead... or he could be a detective constable working in North London.
[Mod Lewis has just joked that Dangerous Davies is starting to lose his hair]
Dangerous Davies: What do you call a row of rabbits marching backwards?
Mod Lewis: Dunno.
Dangerous Davies: A receding hare-line!
...............................................................................................................................
ABC must be either showing repeats or they made more, his nutcase side kick looks like James Matheson.
I adore this show, it is quirky, sweet and utterly wonderful - Davison is divinely sweet.
Did anyone else watch it before???

Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper in Torchwood/DW) is apparently moving on from the role.

I find that a shame, I would love to see Torchwood revived someday, and Captain Jack/Gwen Cooper are the essential elements.

Of course I was not the only one dreaming of Bowie & Doctor Who coming together, David Bowie turned down doctor Who offers, shame
Peter Capaldi said last autumn that he wanted David Bowie to be a guest star in Doctor Who. He had no chance. Doctor Who composer Murray Gold told Den of Geek in 2013 of his encounter with Bowie at an ice cream stall
Peter Capaldi:
“I think we should have David Bowie,” the actor told the crowd at a screening for episode one and two of the upcoming series. “I think he would be a very good one.”
OK, it sounds a little crazy – but now we've thought about it, it’s almost too perfect. Who better to explore space and time with the Doctor than Ziggy Stardust, the composer of Space Oddity? A man who once released an album that could almost be a Doctor Who episode premise in itself – The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars – and starred as an alien in sci-fi movie classic The Man Who Fell to Earth. If someone’s not already pitching that to Steven Moffat for series ten, we will.
Murray Rose
Any musicians or bands you'd like to work with on a song for Doctor Who?
I ran into Bowie once in an ice-cream store in Reinbeck and he started talking to me about Doctor Who. He had no idea who I was, I was just a fanboy freak. [Laughs] And I said, 'I would never bother a famous person in the world, I'm so courteous and mindful of other people's privacy - except it's you!' [Laughs]
I said, 'I write music for Doctor Who,' and he said, 'I'm not doing it.' I said, 'What do you mean?' and he said, 'They want me to do it.' I don't know what it means, to this day, but that's what he said. I don't know in what capacity, as an actor or as a musician. I would like to see an episode of Doctor Who scored by David Bowie.

And, Whovians I am curious, do you guys enjoy X-Files? I love Fox & Scully.
And last week was kind of Doctorish.

...that truly is tragic news as far as I'm concerned... perhaps Torchwood will die for good and maybe Captain Jack can crossover back to Doctor Who as one of his travelling companions for a while?... I can only hope at least... sad news indeed... cheers.

Yes. You can't blame actors for getting frustrated can you? They had such a good cast and the potential for so many great episodes and they've wasted it. Torchwood (and Sarah Jane Adventures) were never cancelled, just not renewed, which I think is really disrespectful towards the actors and writers.

...I totally agree... at this rate... if they keep creating 'spin-offs' of Doctor Who and just don't renew the show instead of cancelling it then actors will just stop auditioning for the new shows in the first place... it is an insult to them to just leave them up in the air with doing that to them... if they stopped concentrating on the spin-off shows and dedicated their full time on Doctor Who then we would be getting a whole season of Doctor Who to watch this year wouldn't we?...
...it's so pathetic that we will only get the Christmas show this entire year if we are lucky... I wouldn't be surprised if Peter Capaldi gives it a flick with having to go a whole year without work... why would he want to stay?... he's seeing what happened to Torchwood... what's to say that this isn't the first step of what is now happening to Doctor Who?... who is to say that this isn't Torchwood all over again?... that's what it's looking like to me at least... it's disgusting to treat a show as great as this like that... The Moff and crew should be bloody ashamed of themselves in my opinion... we may as well being saying 'goodbye... farewell and amen' to our beloved show right now and be done with it... I so hope that I'm completely wrong with all of this... I really do... cheers.

Neuroscientists are figuring out how our brains would react to teleportation
We are so ready.
The answer, as Motherboard reports, is pretty much a yes. It seems that our brains can retain certain navigational information, even when all the live inputs 'go dark' – in other words, the brain isn't completely frazzled by hopping from one place to another. Of course, the researchers couldn't use a teleportation machine, but they were able to build a computer simulation to accurately convey the experience of using such a device.
Every time we move around, there are certain rhythmic brain patterns that appear, and those patterns also show up when we move through virtual space on a computer. So, by putting together a VR teleportation experience, the team was able to get a good idea of how a real-life teleporter might affect us.
Three epilepsy patients who already had brain-monitoring electrodes implanted in their brains (to monitor for signs of seizure) were chosen to take part in the study.
These neural oscillations continued during simulated teleportation, which suggests that our navigational awareness might remain functioning while we're teleported. That's a big deal, because that theory runs contrary to most neurological models.

Maisie Williams has confirmed she will not return to DW, she has other stuff to do, whatever.
So why get somebody to play an immortal, who isn't locked in to repeat the character when wanted?

We celebrated the return of Mulder and Scully with this picture, made from a photograph taken in Bellefleur, Oregon back in September, 1993. Big thanks to everyone who got in touch to say they loved the image and of course, we’re delighted to offer it as wallpaper!
Just click on the required format of the version you prefer and when it opens, right click to save the image or set it as your wallpaper.
(click the link if you want to do this)
So, does anyone else here fantasize about this happening?
It was my first thought with the New X Files finale ending, they look up and....blue box, they should do this for the next Comic Relief skit

...I'm so happy to hear that she won't be returning... I never liked her character... I have never liked her in the show... I didn't really ever think that she was 'up' to her roles... I guess that I'm on my own with this but I didn't think that she was much of an actress at all to be honest... a tad bit harsh I know but that's what I think... I hated her character because to be honest... I believe that only the Timelords should be immortal... thank god she's gone I say... cheers.

Not necessarily on your own there, I found the whole deal disappointing. I had imagined something lovely and magical, a woodland type creature was coming. So my imagination never felt satisfied at all by this mean and nasty character who kills Jenna.
Acting=average, hard for me to say as I just disliked ME, and actually thought it was Moff at his most ridiculous and icky.
