Director Jamie Payne will be behind the camera for the 2013 Doctor Who Christmas Special. Payne directed the Series 7 episode Hide. The one hour episode, as of yet untitled (officially anyway), is written by current showrunner Steven Moffat and stars Jenna-Louise Coleman and Matt Smith in his last outing as the Eleventh Doctor (well, until the Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Special). It will also, possibly, see the new actor, or actress, to play The Twelfth Doctor. Filming starts in August.

Interesting that the terms Actor or Actress are used.

Who fans can be more anal then Star Trek fans so imagine the uproar if it's a woman?

Craig Charles off Red Dwarf interested in playing The Doctor

...as they say in some other websites... it would be hard for him to do it for the main fact that they are going to do another new series of Red Dwarf next year and it wouldn't gel with him playing both parts...

...as much as I wouldn't mind a woman playing the role Mud Cake I really couldn't see that happening due to the amount of die-hard Whovians that are against the idea... (I think that Jo Brand or Miranda Hart would be fun to watch in the role myself)... I guess that we will just have to wait and see I suppose...

...speaking of other Dr Who websites I did this for one of their monthly challenges... the subject was 'introducing..." ... it can be anything that you wish to enter as long as it has something to do with Dr Who and that it had the word 'introducing in it's title... they wanted originality of ideas so I threw this into the ring... cheers.

Very neat. Send it to the BBC it's cool, bet they would love to see celebratory 50th stuff.

I might just have to watch the 5 Doctors after seeing that.

...thanks kxk... a good idea to send it to the BBC what with the 50th anniversary and all that... they may end up putting a musical on lol!... cheers.

And if they don't give you praise I would also send it to the Doc Who mag, they actually have a fan art thing too. Great mags, seriously awesome info and great pics and articles.

...yeah thanks kxk... I actually joined the 'Gallifrey Base' website the other day (May the 31 st to be precise) on this link...

http://gallifreybase.com/forum/index.php?

...they have a section there called 'The Monopticon · Fan Artwork' wherein I entered that pic in a 'Introducing... The Wallpaper Challenge #31' competition... (no prizes you're just trying to be the best entrant so that you can set the next challenge if you wish)... it's my first attempt at anything like this so here's hoping lol!...

...as a side note I placed this image (from page 222 on the thread we're now on)...

...into the same website somewhere... then some guy asked a few of us whether we would like to contribute any of our stuff towards his Dr Who magazines 50th anniversary edition coming out within the next month or two and I said it was okay if he wished to use mine... he's accepted it and is going to include in the edition... (cool!)... it's an online electronic magazine rather a published on paper type one but what the hey... it's still cool with me... lol!... here is the link to the Canadian fan magazine... it's called 'Whotopia'...

http://www.whotopia.ca/

...the great thing about that website is that you can download 80 page magazines of all of the past 20 odd magazine free to be able to print them out for yourself... they also have Dr Who stories that have been written by Dr Who fans for all to read... a great site really... is it the Dr Who magazine that you were talking about kxk?... anyhow... thanks for the kind words... cheers.

No I couldn't get Meglos there, if there is one then it's not me.

I don't post much anymore but I was quite chatty there about 5 years ago.

Nope, I'm talking about this, UK, unofficial/official Who bible

Or in newsagents.

...oh okay kxk... I've actually bought that magazine before now on a few occasions but never realised that this particular magazine and website were what you were talking about... after a little bit of investigation on the website where I entered the 'Dr Who musical extravaganza' I've come to realise that the guy that started the challenge is actually Will Brooks who is one of the news editors on the website and magazine that you are talking about!... I guess that if it is ever going to get picked up for use in the magazine then that will be the place for it eh?... one can only wait and see I guess... cheers.

Ooo I loved that too, all the ducking and weaving was hilarious.

RTD's cooky bits were such fun.

Sticky - that Escher like image, is that your work? And did you base it on a Doc Who episode from Tom Baker's era?

I have a vivid memory of seeing an Escher type Doc Who episode with Baker, and that being when I first began to appreciate Doc Who as a kid.

Anyone know what that episode is called? I want to rewatch it.

Castrovalva, it was actually the first Peter Davison story, after Baker regenerated at the end of Logopolis. Watch them both together if you can, they are by the same writer.

Thanks Meglos.

Was just checking that out - doing google searches and stuff.

But I was so positive it was Baker - did his last one have a bit of the Escher?
And that leads into Peter?
I recall it as black and white.....or was that just Oz anyway....

They can be seen as one continuous story, and most of Davison's first episode has him still wearing Baker's costume.

It's in colour on DVD, it's possible that some households in Australia watched it in black & white. One of my first DW memories was watching Planet Of The Spiders in my brother's room on his b&w telly, so I thought that was a b&w episode at the time too.
