Don’t understand the point of this or anything other social media ban since what’s stopping kids from simply lying about their age? In fact I think this just puts kids at greater risk.
People are saying it's about implementing a centralised Government digital ID for everyone to access the internet. So it won't simply be about clicking the "are you over 18" box on a porn website. You literally won't be able to do a Google search unless you've logged into your Government ID. Locking down the internet. Getting rid of anonymity.
To what extent that is true, no idea. I'm uneasy with the overly conspiratorial nature of it, but it has to be a possibility. In the UK they're doing similar stuff and are now discussing banning VPNs to enforce their internet censorship.
Our Western countries are currently insane and becoming more authoritarian and Orwellian. So it is believable although I don't know how practical it would be to implement and we're run by morons.
So those morons might just be going for a maximal approach with their social media ban. With out any thought or practicality. The whole. "if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail."
However our Western Governments are currently dismantling international law and conventions to support a genocide. Which a lot of people don't quite comprehend. Albo, Penny Wong and our Government literally support starving and murdering children. They're the bad people in history books. People try and make excuses but none should be done. They've failed basic morality and betrayed any pretence of an enlightened civilisation.
So why give them the benefit of the doubt? We're all run by corrupt, evil people. The bad people you read about in History books run the Western world at the moment. They don't like the fact that we know it. So why shouldn't we judge this stuff as an authoritarian crackdown under the pretence of, "Won't somebody think of the children?"
The approved media is god awful, so of course they don't want people growing up with access to information that may make them question the approved narratives.
