It is irrelevant if Priya is over sensitive. It is simple when you make a joke offend someone you stop making the joke. At least that is what you do if you have empathy.

Yes, I think "ribbing" is restricted purely to Australian culture.
Do you think when someone gets "offended" they lose a limb?
Priya's reaction was due to her over-sensitivity and arrogance (wasn't about what was said but who said it - how dare those new boys not know their place) and that makes it completely relevant. Without it, there would not have been an issue.
