Episode Day 51 (Tues 17/09/13): Late Night Feast

Right? And I thought so much of what he was saying was true, and things she needed to hear, but then he went off the plot with the whole bullshit "I KNOW you're being played" bit. I mean, what? He was already getting an overreaction out of her, but it was like he couldn't stop there without making an ass of himself too.

Definitely. If he left her with the first part of his speach it would have been straight to the point. Then he waffled on about utter crap, which totally makes him sound like a liar for the whole chat now. She is absolutely not going to believe half of his speach, then think he's talking crap about the other.... Gahhh.

Yeah. I can see how the bit about the dress could seem obnoxious, but I think that's because it was edited into the context of Mikkayla's eating habits and self-image issues. I don't think it was mean or pointed in its own context, and it is a pretty normal thing to say.
Yeah and it's let face it, Jade has a very large bust for her size...if she's a 6 in the hips but has a larger bust then the dress would have looked roomy and the opposite seems to occur for Tully who has no boobs lol and complains that the dresses don't fit as well.
It annoys me if someone is called out for 'having the nerve' to feel self conscious in clothing...the others shouldn't have to hold in how they feel about themselves just because someone else is sensitive about it, it's stupid, mikkayla isn't even that big.

Does anyone notice how verbally abusive Tully is to Drew?
She will call him an expletive the moment he hasn't done what she wants or worse....hasn't told her everything.
She called him a fuckwit simply because he didn't tell her about the hidden alcohol, then later was dancing and called him an arsehole and that she hated him 'right now'.

My ex was like this, he needs to run and fast.

Tes, I do see this, and the other emotional abuse. That is the thing no Tully apologist has ever adequately justified - how can you justify this behaviour? Tully justifies it to herself endlessly - it is because she is affectionate, empathetic and cares about him, and her trust was so badly shattered when he lied to her about needing to go to 'the bathroom' when he really wanted to make a poo.

I had an ex like her too, and it is fascinating watching it from the outside, as I acted like Drew does. It only stopped when I stopped putting up with it.

drew didn't want to punch ed at all. not at all. he knows that he has to back tully 100%, she fires him up and then smiles and is happy when he goes all macho on her, and says no don't do it stay here. He was going no where, if he wanted to take on ed he would have. He knows damn well what the truth is he just has to placate tully as usual. We all saw him in the diary room saying that the person he cared about is the person who always over reacts. He knows the deal. Ed was not aggressive AT ALL. Tully was pointing her finger in his face. There was no aggression from him at all, he was serious and clearly pissed off but he is not going to fucking smile now is he.

Tahan did not come across well at all. I don't get what the big screaming match was about but mocking mikkayla after her very emotional and real insecurities were spoken about at dinner was disappointing.

I like the new ed, at least we know that he is there to win, he's really not interested in jade, he'd even through tahan under the bus (nom points) and he's finally getting pissed off now all of his options are running out. and he can't stand tully. Loved how they all jumped on tully as soon as she cracked it at drew about the wine "you ruined it tully", "what i didn't say anything" and then under her breath to drew she swears at him and calls him names..nice.

was really disappointed in drew....his anger seemed so fake to me, putting on an act to please damn tully and then telling big brother he knows exactly where it's at......consoling tully and pulling faces to tahan and smiling...man he really does love this shit. I can only imagine how much fun they would all have if she wasn't dragging everyone down.

Jade complaining that her dress looked much too huge to be a size 6, and then putting it on and complaining it made her look "fat" and "pregnant" made me cringe, it was insensitive and self-absorbed and also boring.

OK, I have tried with Jade but she really is faking a lot of her nice act I believe now.

Jade is far more damaging with her passive aggressive weight bullshit............this act is really old & you can watch girls do it every day at work and in schools.

I honestly find it difficult to watch cause yeah I've been there...and she will get worse and call him more things.
I was critical of people and their psych crap but she acts like someone with a personality disorder, I can't believe they let her on the show.

This was incomprehensible to me so I don't know how to respond. LOL. :)

Yeah, fair enough. I tend to write references for the people who get them, as I hate having jokes that I already got explained to me.

So, Phillip Sheperd was a contestant on two seasons of Survivor. In the first one he acted like a complete lunatic. He said he was a former federal agent with the strength of a lion and the courage of a gorilla, wore feathers in his hair, called himself 'The Specialist' and made trouble around the camp, all the time wearing faded baggy pink undies. Boston Rob, one of the legends in the Survivor world, was making his fourth appearance that year, and the season was tailor-made for him to win. Everyone on the tribe hated The Specialist, but Boston Rob began to see the use of him and carried him all the way to the end, knowing he could defeat him at final tribal.

When The Specialist came back last season he would not stop talking about how he had the chance to study one of the masters of the game, Boston Rob, on Survivor season 25 Redemption Island... he said this every week, to every one. He said, from observing Boston Rob he developed 'The BR Rules' and, to his credit, he followed these rules until defeated by a cunning bro alliance move. Oh, spoilers.

Since he left Survivor he has been using his fame to shamelessly promote his vanity-published novel, featuring himself as the lead character, a spy thriller called The Costa Rica Job. He was acting in Camp this summer, as the black gay dad.

I was suggesting he gave Jade advice - and his advice would be to create an insane persona. This then would lead Jade to be the bunny boiling class 2 clinger that she has been described as, throwing herself at someone uninterested to garner interest and perhaps pity. She clearly thinks she is gathering allies in Drew and Ed. Anyway, that's about all.

She that has eyes may see.

That's complete bullshit.

That's complete bullshit.

Not in my experience.

I have been called out for similar myself when much younger.
Can you stop moaning that your fat - I was politely & privately pulled aside and advised, your hip bones stick out & you make us all feel like shit.

And I have watched it for years, it's common.
And it's not always consciously hurtful. But Jade just goes on, and on.
Anorexics do it, and most people with eating disorders do it a bit, like Jade & Mikkayla, they do pretty much the same thing.

That doesn't mean she's passive aggressive about it and 'worse'...I assume than Tahan? Really?!
Like I said, Jade has a large bust for her size so her dresses are going to accommodate that and hide any shape she wants to have.

I've gotten called out before as well and when I explain that I have fat days like anybody else people appear to feel better, because they aren't the only one that goes through it.
Jade shouldn't have to zip up, I mean mikkayla doesn't shut up about her love of carbs or eating, it works both ways.

Yes, my perspective on this is informed by having been skinny for my whole life. No one wants to hear me moan about how my clothes look on me and no one needs lectures or observations from me about how to eat.

I don't think Jade is a saint by any means, but I certainly don't think she's passive-aggressive about the weight issue. I think she's shown herself to be insecure in a lot of ways, and this is just one of them. Yes, she knows she's good-looking, but she also seems to think that's all she is, so naturally she'd be a bit insecure about that, too.

I agree, but I think that this year we're missing out on even more. So much for "more BB than ever before" - it's been the complete opposite. The live updates suck this year too - they need to be more detailed and include quotes / description of the conversations, not just "HM1 and HM2 are talking about <whatever>". And IMO they should continue until the HMs go to bed, since so often they stop when something interesting is happening

Plus most of the live feed videos are played in the following day's show anyway, so we aren't seeing any extra footage, just seeing it earlier.

I don't want to overstate my view of Jade's wrongness, it was just a bit annoying and insensitive and self-absorbed and boring (by no means the greatest BB crime of all time, or even of that episode) and I expected better from her.

You're pretty considerate, and I'm well aware of saying stuff about my weight around people as well but she (and you) have as much of right to comment on appearance as anyone else.
Jade is saying what everyone says, the only difference is what others think when she says it, which she can't control.
If mikkayla gets the shits because of that, it's ultimately her issue and not Jade's.

Wow, thanks for the explanation. I didn't expect it all but was very interesting read. And good points.

I've always been very naturally thin, and I have had instances in the past where I have complained that something I was wearing made me look bad and it has upset a friend of mine who is a little bigger. The issue for me was because I myself didn't see my friend as being overweight or unattractive, it didn't occur to me that me putting myself down would effect them. I can see the same thing with Jade being around Mikkayla. Jade doesn't seem to think there is a problem with the way Mikkayla looks at all (it's Tahan, Tully and Tim that have issues with it), so I don't think she realised that making comments like that around people like Mikkalya was an issue. I've been there, and it's not usually until your friend actually says something that you realise the implications. You were only worried about your own insecurities because to you there is nothing wrong with the way your friend looks.

And let's be honest here. That dress did make Jake look pregnant. Tully told her herself.
