quite possibly the best show of the season... and it's lucky, because last episode was quite possibly the worst. random thoughts....
- i felt like most of the show was watching interactions and getting to know HMs - even the challenge/tasks sequences were less about the tasks than the HMs interactions/reactions
- except of course for Ben. Ok, not only am I sick of him, but I'm convinced he's an actor - he's a character created for sketch comedy and that's the twist. ben's just slipped too many times into his deep voice (unintentionally), and his actions aren't always of someone naive
- case in point, when he had to hand the phone to a HM tonight, when Mikayla was the only volunteer, he snapped "cord won't reach" without even a delay. he's switched on and playing everyone, especially us.
- tully has issues around emotional awareness (hers) and change impact. the swap between heidi and mikayla tonight had nothing to do with her, but she was straight into a tanty. she won't last long - the voters won't try to save her very hard, or she might even bail
- tim is obviously playing everyone so hard, it's even more ham handed than ben and mike last season. once again, i'm asking myself how nobody can see it.
- case in point, i loved his attitude to the switch - it's just a shame it's calculated to be the best option to get support from viewers. but I admit, he won points with me for it.
- rohan is a dead fish. seriously, the guy is all talk.
- i don't know if the meat heads spent the WHOLE day in the kitchen, but seriously, you didn't just get back from 39 days in the jungle on survivor - you were less than a week in the half-way house and still got out for group meals a couple times.
- dammit, the Laties are growing on me
- i even mostly liked the nominations twist. first the bad: I still don't like that they are nominating "publicly" this way (ie mikayla "picking" tim, and now tahan "picking" heidi and saving miki). the good: I love seeing the HMs shocked and reeling, and I love seeing the reactions - that's what I watch for. put normal aussies in unreal situations and see the test of their character. the uglY: dammit, alex, would it have killed you to tell us tuesday? or wednesday, that this was coming? WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE IN ON THE JOKE YOU DUMBARSE. We don't give a shit about your twists, we give a shit about the HMs responding to them. give us the joy of anticipation by telling us before they happen.
- i don't like the tim influence on miki. she says she's not going to change, but wearing tim's persona IS a change.
- great to see heidi bawling like a toddler who dropped her ice cream. it's karma for her jabs at mik and tully for crying earlier in the week
