Well you got me beat. I had a bad reading year, only 22 books. 20 fiction, 2 non-fiction. 10 by men, 12 by women.
Not heard of Simon Brett.
I most enjoyed The Vegetarian by Han Kang, quite weird though.

Never again
Read lots of classic books. Some I remember:
The Great Gatsby. What a great book. Really liked that scene at the hotel at the end.
Lolita. A well written book that one I'll only read once. Don't understand how the narrator is unreliable as it's pretty clearly spelt out how evil he is.
Count of Monte Cristo: Has made me think twice when it comes to revenge. Because clearly my plans aren't as good as this guy.
Great Expectations: Sad book.
The trial: Such an interesting premise. Not sure it stuck the landing.
Moby Dick: Boring.
