Marlon is soo fake!! On BBBOTs he plays up his reaction in an exclusive in the diary room...he totally played it up for laughs and it was obvious and cringe. It will be hilarious if Marlon is out next and Toya has to talk to him on BBBOTs lol!
 
The twist is sexist and unfair. I get that it's to achieve some semblance of gender balance in the house, but they're going about it the wrong way. We did something very similar in Australia back in 2007, after we had evicted 8 females and only 2 males. There were only 3 females left and still so many of the deadwood men left in the house - it looked like another woman was going to be evicted that week, so the producers announced a male only double eviction. At the time, I was all for it, because I was sick of seeing the women in the house punished for every little flaw and the males embraced for theirs, but I was younger and not so reasonable. I realize now what a mockery it makes of the nominations and eviction process. It's an unfortunate reality that we tend to be less forgiving of women when it comes to any negative character traits. When it was vote to evict in Australia, what tended to happen was we'd evict most of our women and then just replace them with new ones (usually two female intruders and one male intruder, oftentimes a stereo-typically feminine man). The show turned into a revolving door of housemates, necessitating frequent double evictions. For this reason, I do prefer vote to save in Australia, as it has solved so many of the problems we used to have with vote to evict.

I never watched the two civilian series of BBUK where they had vote to save, but I do know that the British public like to be able to punish their housemates for their transgressions directly and seem to prefer a vote to evict. I don't know if vote to save is the answer for the UK - it certainly has made the show better in Australia, but I think that could be to do with the type of housemates we tend to cast. I can't really put it into words, but to me, BBUK is very different from BBAU. Everything is exaggerated and the house is always much more volatile. In the UK, some of the housemates are truly vile people who do deserve to be punished with eviction. In a way, that is part of what makes BBUK so good to watch. In the UK, evicting big characters isn't that big a deal, as new ones always seem to step in to take their place. I think vote to evict generally works well for the UK - the show generally stays entertaining to the end in spite of seeing big characters evicted and gender imbalance hasn't been THAT big a deal for BBUK in the past. I know that they've kept vote to save for the celebrity series, so it could be worth experimenting with it again, but I think having vote to evict to some degree is actually essential for BBUK. Maybe they could compromise and alternate each week between vote to evict and vote to save?

Yeah, I'm annoyed that Toya is gone, as she did turn it around for me a bit these past few days. She's ridiculous, but I actually enjoyed watching her this week. That said, she was voted out. Fair enough, I suppose her treatment of Christopher and Jale was not something the general public were willing to forgive so quickly. The thing is, if they weren't messing with the nominations process so much, especially this week with their stupid "PUT UP ANY HOUSEMATE WITH TWO OR MORE NOMINATIONS, THEN SAVE ONE HOUSEMATE, THEN PUT ONE OF THE POWER HOUSEMATES IN THEIR PLACE" twist, the nominees would have been Jale, Christopher, Ash, Chris and Danielle. Ash would almost certainly have gotten the boot this week. I think therein lies the answer to this problem - the producers need to simply stop meddling with the nominations process and let things take their natural course. The more they meddle, the worse the result seems to be - I'm still annoyed by Dan's eviction last year.

Don't get me wrong, I do like that we'll finally be delivered our first male evictee, but the twist was unnecessary for that. They should have just let things run their course. If they had let the housemates just nominate as normal, I can guarantee you that a male would have probably been evicted this week anyway, and a male would have gone in Toya's place last night. Now whoever is evicted this week will delude themselves into thinking they're out because of an unfair twist. The women left in the house aren't that unlikable, barring Helen who can't get evicted anyway - it seems that Ash, Marlon and Steven are likely to go in the coming weeks, so I can guarantee you that a round of normal nominations would have seen one of them evicted - the twist is unnecessary. Maybe they just wanted an excuse to force all the other women into a situation where they'd have to try to reason with Helen... it's obviously not going to go well.

As I said on Twitter last night the power isn't in the hands of the public or the housemates but is in the hands of the producers more than it has ever been before. Incompetent producers that is who have no respect for the format of Big Brother and can't handle the thought of anything occuring which takes the show off their intended script.

The beauty of the show used to be that even the producers wouldn't know how it pans out from day to day, week to week, but nowadays I get the feeling it's all mapped out pretty much completely and if things look to be going in a direction they don't expect they will do everything possible to make sure the show sticks to the script.

Perhaps the twist, which necessitates letting Jale off the hook for a week, is a way to be able to put up Helen if they reverse the genders next week.

One thing that is very obvious this year is the way the word 'balls' is synonamous with courage, and 'vagina' equals weakness and a lack of character.

Im a Brit so maybe i can give you a little more knowledge in what the "UK public" are currently thinking :p

Firstly i think a lot of us who watch actually hate that its gone back to a vote to evict and much prefer when it was vote to save. This series has been kind on us with big characters so even though the big characters are getting voting out we are left with lots of others.
This isnt usually the case though and most years by week 4 we are left with deadwood and the producers will do everything in there power to try and keep the last remaining bigger characters in, which is something the viewers hate.
They dont have to do this as much with the celebrity version.

If it was vote to save then this week i predict someone like Christopher (maybe Danielle or Marlon) would have gone. Someone who is liked but not someone entertaining enough to have a huge fan base to be willing to keep him in.
Like someone mentioned, because it was vote to evict the people who wanted to keep Toya is had too many other people they had to vote for in order to save her.

Secondary, the live eviction crowd does not represent what how the general public are thinking. This year they have been more accurate but a lot of the time they seem like they have no clue whats going on and just go to boo.

for example Winston is not "loved" by the public, and by public i mean the hardcore viewers who do most the voting, hes actually someone who people have no opinon one,the crowd only cheered because they dont dislike him enough to boo him like the others.
Saying all this, he has a good change of winning due to the fact by the end of the show i doubt he would have done anything to annoy people due to never doing anything interesting and those type of characters are always the ones who seem to win. Most hardcore viewers over here understand by now that the real "winners" of this show are usually the housemates who come 2nd-4th

Were also not liking all these stupid twists either lol

This "girl power" thing is a complete bullshit production move because they have lost three female HG's in a row and don't want to lose a 4th so they make it impossible to vote another female out (even Jale is mysteriously safe).
 
I'm disappointed in Jale because she wants to keep guys who she'll have fun with in the house but she's NOT using her brains and thinking to evict people who are seemingly popular with people outside - ie Winston ...
the public have backed Jale and been cheering her as the underdog but now they're seeing her becoming friendly with Helen, Marlon, Winston ... she seems to be able to live and let live over past events - which I don't think I could do given the same circumstances
and it makes me wonder if she'll lose the support of some people for seeming to go over to the dark side ....
 
Everybody seems to agree that the "girl power" thing is a cop out by the producers.. the general public, the members here on this board and even the housemates had it figured out straight away. There'll be many more mishcalculations by the producers before this series is over.
Toya who has been called "mini Pauline" is precisely that, another mega bitch. On BOTS this season, only the psychology woman (can't think of her name) knows what's going on. Most of the panellists are walking in the dark, what Rylan has to say nobody cares about anyway... and Emma... well I don't think she's watching the show this season or maybe she's gone blind or the fairies have stolen her brain... I am so over Emma.
How could no one have seen what kind of character Pauline is, from the moment she walked up those stairs. Toya is the same, I could see it from the first moment, she simply lay low for the first week to suss out the situation.

Helen - Toya : Both bullying bitches but Helen is nowhere as belligerent as Toya. Helen loses it big time when she's hammered, too bad. But Toya firmly believes that she is so superior to any one else ("I am educated..." yet she doesn't know what 'veto' means), Helen doesn't suffer from such delusions.
I still like Helen, I hope she mellows a bit and realises that not everybody tries to get the better of her.

It will be interesting to see how the girls will pick to save. I hope it has to be a unanimous vote and not a majority vote. No way will Ashleigh save Ash. But Kim, Jale and Helen will try to save him. They'll agree on Mark. They'll agree on Chris and maybe Christopher. Ashleigh will come into her own this week. She will not back down.
 
I had no chance to watch for the last week so this weekend i've watched all last weeks episodes & BOTs.. man I am EXHAUSTED! This is quite possibly the nastiest house ever & there have been some nasty characters in previous BBs. Helen... that woman is on a one way ticket to crazy town. I seriously think she is deranged. I don't understand the Winston love. He is simply so boring & uninspiring to watch. He comes across as dizzy.. not sure if it's intentional or not yet.

This week will be dead interesting to see who the girls will save. I agree with you Cowie on Ashleigh.. she's been promising us to see her 'nasty side' for a while now. I did laugh in the diary room when all the girls were sat there & BB said that they all had equal power & Helen said "I'm glad you said that" or something like that & Ashleigh pipes up, "Me too."

I also agree with someone else (sorry, can't remember who said it) that this week is all about making a male leave. Seems a bit weird to me.

Still.. this is a corker of a series. I am desperate to see Helen stripped of her pass to the final. I would jump up & down with glee. UTTER GLEE!
 
OMG Danielle reminded me of Marilla Cuthbert from Anne of Green Gables when she was wearing that dress.

I liked this episode I actually laughed a bit more then usual.
My views are changing on people drastically....
I really loved Danielle's task thing she looked hilarious! haha and Winston's poem was so funny! and when Danielle thought Ash's poem was about her I laughed!
Kimberly and Jale have gone to the dark side...not liking this.
I'm interested to see what happens when they have to save....but I just want normal nominations week! Like seriously no messing with the nominations for one week!
