"Big Brother: House of Love" confirmed for late 2023

The season, originally dubbed 'Big Brother: House of Love', was cast with single contestants in a bid to make it more like Channel Nine's Love Island.
Unfortunately, none of the romances blossomed like producers expected, forcing them to scrap the House of Love theme altogether.

Can't say I'm surprised. Sources were saying that everyone involved was disappointed with how the first Seven season played out in 2020 before it aired - and then they went ahead and produced multiple seasons of the exact same thing over and over again.

At this point though, Big Brother is basically dead in Australia. If it were to come back in the future and returned to the original format - there is still the massive issue of the general public perception being as low as it could possibly get that the chances of any success from it are slim to none.

I too wish Big Brother would return to Channel 10, Gretel was the host, Mike Goldman hosted Big Brother Up Late or Friday Night Games, the Eviction shows were all live, and so on. Channel 7 has ruined the entire concept. They've obviously delayed the next instalment of Big Brother until the 4th Quarter of this ratings year, and the promotion and hype for it will be precisely zero.

Gretel was the host
Despite her saying before the Seven-era started that she would take the job for the right amount of money - I don't think she would ever actually consider coming back to it.

Estelle told a story once that she ran into Gretel at some point and asked for a photo. Apparently before Gretel said yes she made her promise that if it were to be posted on social media at any point, there would be absolutely no reference to Big Brother whatsoever in the post. She's clearly wanted to distance herself from it over the years and become known for more than just Big Brother that I doubt she'd want to undo all of that for a payday or two before its killed off again.

I'm sure she would if the money was there and other opportunities aren't.

Does she have any permanent gigs any more? Or just random appearances on The Project etc? I doubt her books are sustaining her. Although I think she'd have to be pretty desperate to return to BB. She was clearly completely over it a couple of seasons before she departed last time.

It's Daily Mail so what do you expect but essentially no new info in there. We knew Seven had pushed it back to Q4, we knew the house had been ripped out, we even knew that the "house of love" twist failed to pan out how producers wanted, hence it seems they may have cut it short.

I am sure Gretel Kileen moved on from Big Brother long ago, that I can respect. If they ever did revive the concept properly, at least move it to another network or a streaming service, Channel 7 have made a dogs breakfast out of it.

Yeah we can't have Gretel back, time for someone fresh and new and - dare I say it - someone who's closer to 30 than 50 would probably be appropriate. Unless they want to aim the show at us Gen Xers, and I don't think they do any more.

Agree, needs a fresh young host for a BB revival.
Not Abby Chatfield, thanks.
You don't want Abby presenting Big Brother FBOY House of Love?

I don't really know who she is and she's fine for FBOY island, but definitely wouldn't be a fit for BB. One thing that amuses me on FBOY Island is that she's prettier than the contestants.

I actually really like Abby but her brand just isn’t something that fits with the direction BB should be going in or at least not at the moment. Any potential new host needs to be upmarket, somewhat intellectual, with a side of humour, and sarcastic wit. An up and coming actor, comedian, or author, looking for their big break would be ideal.
