Big Brother back in 2025 on 10! AND LIVE!

When I saw the post from The Project's Facebook page announcing the show's return, I was genuinely excited. Never did I think that a third revival would happen this quickly.
Whether 10 would have the balls to do it was always a question but in terms of the lack of a protracted hiatus there was never any doubt. Clocked this a while ago but launching off the back of Seven’s pathetic attempt at re-imagining the format benefits this series more than harm. It was such a drastic departure that we can basically retcon it out of existence. Also going back to 10 automatically gives this revival a sense of credibility that no one else could.

Not sure about Australian copyright laws and all that, but: The US has all seasons available on Paramount+
This is where I completely stopped reading your post. The original Australian and UK versions of Big Brother can in no way be compared to the US, CAN, and even Ch7’s, BB seasons. They were produced completely differently and meet the criteria for passing licensing for streaming.

The live seasons are not that.

There may be a world in which “clips” or moments from past years make their way to official channels, similar to what they did during BBAU in 2022. But full episodes (of which there’s over 1000 episodes) will NEVER be re-released officially, for a multitude of reasons… it’s simply ludicrous to even entertain the idea.

The first US season was produced the same way and is available online as well. But I would recommend reading a bit further to learn about live European seasons that were produced the same was as the Australian version and were made available later by either the broadcaster that has the license (TVI in Portugal) or the production company itself (Banijay in Germany).

I'm not saying it will be done. I'm just saying that there are parties that don't agree with the "simply not practical" argument.

I can tell you right now, the music alone in any live episode of Big Brother AU between 2001-2014 automatically makes this entire argument redundant. So yes, it is actually not practical.

Online bootlegs from the original broadcasts are the only way you’ll ever get full episodes.

(Also, the first season of BBUS had a similar format as the original AU/UK version, but it was not exactly produced the same way.)

Still to this day CBS are very generic (for lack of a better word) about how they produce the show. I’m also assuming the contracts HG’s or anyone else who appears on the show are much more restrictive than they are elsewhere.

Can't bloody believe Ten have grabbed it back. I really thought the live-streaming BB era was long gone - so happy to be wrong! Promo is fantastic and hits all the right notes. And Mel T is great on the Cheap Seats.

Everything looking good for BB to be back in it's best form!

Nan wanted this for so long. She loved the original format.

Year after year she was disappointed at how disingenuous the most recent seasons were.

If she wasn’t cremated she would be spinning in her fucking grave.

…The Grandson… please keep coming to this website my friend … it’s so much fun… I know that you came on here just to tell us about Nan Taylor but you’ll have great fun in getting involved in our sometimes manic conversations… we love it when new members come on here and stay… different opinions from different new members always adds to the conversations… besides… we just love making new people as mad as we are… we’re all so completely insane!… lol!… cheers.

Peter’s son Tim (used to go by the social media handle ‘Worthless Twink’) has all but confirmed his dad’s re-involvement (see comments on attached video). In what capacity remains to be seen, but the fact they even approached Peter to record a voiceover for the Upfronts promo means whoever is working on this reboot absolutely knows their stuff!

Gotta say while I agree that diversity is going to be important I’d much rather there be an emphasis on authenticity over casting for conflict. IMO sticking to the basics and casting a wide enough net conflict is bound to happen.

As for diversity of opinion they’re going to need to walk a fine line in that regard given how polarized the current political climate is. While I don’t think this revival should stay away from being controversial altogether they definitely need to consider who and what they’re giving a platform to.

Besides IACGMOOH, are there any other shows that are produced / run live?
Even Idol which claims to be live, films the Saturday night and airs the Sunday if I'm not mistaken?
I really think 10 will knock this out of the park. They suck at news, but produce pretty decent reality shows.

I cannot believe I woke up this morning to this not being a dream. I am still in such disbelief. We waited so long, so so long. I didn't think this scenario would ever see light of day. I was so resolute that the only BB I'd get to enjoy properly for 3 months would be the US version. Plus the UK version as well but that is too short for now to really satisfy my BB withdrawels.

But seriously, if anyone had told me or even bothered to hope that BB would return to TEN not live but also with live streaming, any one of us would have laughed. I seriously cannot believe this. And with a Masterchef All Stars and 2 seasons of Australian Survivor (one of which including legends from over the world) I am finally looking at a FTA TV schedule and feeling excited. Since Covid my TV watching routine hasn't been a big part of my day anymore, but now it looks like 2025 will be the year I've been waiting to enjoy for so long.

Ugh, this is almost as good as how travelling felt. 14 year old me is so vindicated right now.

Maybe I’ll do some hups to try and keep that spirit of hers alive.

HUP!

Have to say that was an impressive Upfronts from 10 with Big Brother at the centre of it. The advantage with 10 is you feel they have the space for it, unlike 7 or 9 who always had to cram it in.

I doubt they'll go to 100 days but hopefully stretch to 10-12 weeks. I think they know they need to let it be a slow burner again for it to build momentum rather than rush through it as BBUK has done with 6 week series.

I have complete faith in TEN. They know what they need to do, and they’ll do it properly. I am 100% confident that this show has been returned to and left in right hands.

This scenario is so far and beyond the best that it’s always seemed far fetched to the point of it being a fairy tale.

I cannot wait for this online community to grow once more and hopefully be as eventful as international versions. I’ve loved reaching out and joining in with the online community’s of BBUS and Survivor, but this one just feels like home to me.

Ugh my smile will not ever leave my face again. This is huge.
