"A well placed insider" could literally be anyone. I also don't think Alex would have any sour grapes or axes to grind.I’m getting Alex mav vibes just from the language.. but he’s the producer of I’m a celeb which is on 10, but he’s head of itv now.

Sorry i should specify more, the well placed insider seems to be close to 10."A well placed insider" could literally be anyone. I also don't think Alex would have any sour grapes or axes to grind.
The Alex mav part was about the former producer, language in the article part I posted.

You're making a mountain out of a molehill. Seems to me you just like the sound of your own voice and will literally run with anything you think sounds good.Sorry i should specify more, the well placed insider seems to be close to 10.

It's not unreasonable though. How could 10 possibly get a Q4 season to air if they abide by the hold back and can only actually start doing anything from mid-2025? The answer is they'd either need to do it on the sly (unlikely they would get away with that) or negotiate a deal with Seven to get the rights released. What I really fail to understand is how Endemol could possibly have been unaware of this situation from the outset. That's just bizarre.

IDK, personally unless I see it on TV Tonight I will take everything I hear with a pinch of salt.

Yeah, Nah.

My thoughts exactly. This is the strangest part of the whole situation to me.

The fact that this hasn't been mentioned since seems to indicate the latter... The TVTonight article painted this situation in a far more positive light even going as far as to state that 7 weren't looking to derail this revival. It's not unreasonable though. Is it really that strange? They obviously knew but the clause is so minor that a settlement could be reached. Would be completely different if 7 still had their first right of refusal but this is nothing like that.My thoughts exactly. This is the strangest part of the whole situation to me.

It was, however covered in a much better light.IDK, personally unless I see it on TV Tonight I will take everything I hear with a pinch of salt.

I can confirm, from lived experience, that it is much harder to bring something back that is cancelled than to keep something going.A former Big Brother Australia producer has said that even if the sale does go ahead, the series sure as shit won’t be going live in 2025.
“If Ten do in fact get the rights next year, it will be at least a year off a ‘reboot’ being screened,”
“They are acting like they don’t know what they have bought. Channel Ten may have had this show 20 years ago but to get this show up and running in 2024 — it is a 12 month turnaround.” If done properly, that is.
“If Ten are serious about bringing this show back in its original format — a real social experiment with a 24/7 broadcast — they will need a crew of 250. It’s got a lot of moving parts.”
Case in point, a free social group for autistic adults suddenly fell into my hands in September of 2019, after the original leader got sick of running it in her home, and it took me more than four months to get it back up and running as of January 2020, because i needed to;
- book a venue (council community centre).
- organize public liability insurance (to hire venue for group).
- establish an ABN (for public liability insurance).
- register a business name (for public liability insurance).
- obtain a police certificate and working with vulnerable persons clearance (to hire venue for group).
- complete a first aid course (to hire venue for group).
- purchase games/refreshments (venue makes us provide our own).
- transport equipment to venue ahead of time (for storage between events).
- write policies/procedures/rules (to hire venue for group).
- recruit volunteers to help me run events (so i am not working alone).
- set up promotional posts on relevant webpages (to recruit new members).
- create hype a few weeks out (to get as many existing members to return as possible).
The last thing i needed (which did in fact happen) was members messaging me asking me why i had not ran any events yet despite having been in charge for over two months at that point.
Now that list is for a simple nonprofit social group for a dozen attendees, imagine how much work would be involved to get a months long 24/7 live reality TV show up and running on Channel 10.
If that site had any inside info they wouldn't be passing it on anonymously, they'd be making a huge song and dance about it.TV Black Box

Wahoo!
At this point they may as well ignore the holdback because its already been broken anyway. Endemol Shine have clearly signed a contract, a host has signed on and the show has been announced. All of which are things that shouldn't have happened, so I don't see the need to suddenly abide by it - its already in pieces.
It's just a reasonable assumption it might get pushed back - hardly need to be an "insider" to work that out. It happens all the time in TV - the BBUK revival was six months late (officially to take advantage of higher advertising rates) and think Australian Idol ended up returning over a year after originally announced. US series often get kicked from one season to the next.
I don't think anyone at Seven or Ten see the holdback issue as much more than a bit of paperwork that needs sorting.

All the hottest shows coming to Channel 7 in 2025
There are some key changes coming to the Seven Network in 2025.

Channel 7 upfront for 2025 has NO big brother. Surely they can just waive the hold back given it is not in their 2025 programming agenda and will effectively expire.

I don't think the holdback would delay the show significantly. Given that Endemol are effectively subcontracted by Ten to produce the show, a lot of necessary people would be in place (or could be shuffled in) for production, house design, casting producers, camera operators, etc. If Endemol have confidence that the show will be contracted for a certain number of years, they could already be location scouting.
The only thing that would really have to be delayed is the launch/announcement of casting. If they did open calls, they could theoretically book locations with an embargo on an announcement/advertising. The Ten casting process used to be about 4 months long and there's nothing to say that couldn't be expedited if needed. A holdback until mid year, plus a 4 month casting process could still put us in an October launch

You're 100% correct. Also quite certain that many of the early BB franchises lunched with turnaround of a matter of a few months. I don't see why as the source in the Pedestrian article states "to get this show up and running in 2024 — it is a 12 month turnaround.” If anything I think the series could benefit from a quick turnaround as it's less time for the fat cats at Ten to overthink the tiniest of details.I don't think the holdback would delay the show significantly.
