Big Brother back in 2025 on 10! AND LIVE!

Even as a big brother fan I don’t really want to download an app just to follow a reality show. If I want bonus content I’m expecting that to be on their social media presence, if I’m accessing the house live stream I’m expecting that to be on 10play or Paramount, if I’m voting I’m expecting to do that ideally through a televote system. Apart from content consolidation I don’t see what a BB app brings to the table apart from extra costs that won’t see a huge ROI

The only benefit I see is that it consolidates everything in the one place, so the general public doesn't have to think where they would access the various parts of the show.

Would be great if they don't geoblock content. I'll be screwed if it's on P+. Well, maybe there's a workaround, haven't had any reason to try for a long time.

I wonder when we are going to get to the point of channels (esp paid channels) not being geo blocked - They know people will find ways around it.

Highly unlikely unless they want to start paying more for the same content to have global distribution rights.

Yes, it's great Grande Fratello not only has a classic style fully functioning website but clips aren't geoblocked either and think even episodes can be watched worldwide (well I watched the launch). Live feeds are though, but as long as clips are available thats great.

Wonder if any NZ broadcaster will pick it up and if so at least make it available in line with the 10 broadcasts, especially if it's on streaming rather than broadcast. Should be able to drop them on to the platform the following morning.

I was able to watch the US live feeds last year through vpn on paramount plus. But this year it would tell me it’s detected a vpn, I could still watch episodes but not feeds :(

Will probably be the same situation for AUS

Given it's almost a year away I won't bother investigating for the time being. Suffice to say they count ratings from online viewers now, unlike last time 10 had BB. It's literally in their interest to open it up.

For the 7 era, it was flip-flopping between TVNZ and Three year-to-year so I’d say it’s possible either of them could get their mitts on it next year. TVNZ is currently dropping episodes of Love Island Australia the day after Oz and they do the same thing for Love Island UK so they easily could do it for BB too.

Not quite. It was only on Three in 2020. After that it stayed at TVNZ - but went from being online-only, to airing on TVNZ 2, to being dumped onto TVNZ Duke at midday due to low ratings to being back to online-only.

Interesting….

A former Big Brother Australia producer has said that even if the sale does go ahead, the series sure as shit won’t be going live in 2025.

“If Ten do in fact get the rights next year, it will be at least a year off a ‘reboot’ being screened,”

“They are acting like they don’t know what they have bought. Channel Ten may have had this show 20 years ago but to get this show up and running in 2024 — it is a 12 month turnaround.” If done properly, that is.

Apparently the network is nowhere near ready to begin production of the series.

“They haven’t found a house. They haven’t found a state! To get Big Brother Australia back to its glory days — you simply can’t rush this format. It won’t work’.

“Some would even say that Channel Seven rushed their affair with the format and viewers were onto the fact that it just didn’t feel like Big Brother.

“If Ten are serious about bringing this show back in its original format — a real social experiment with a 24/7 broadcast — they will need a crew of 250. It’s got a lot of moving parts.”

The current agreement states that no one can start work on this show until the aforementioned hold back lapses, so this is quite an awkward moment for everyone involved.

Endemol Shine Australia are now looking at finding an offer that will keep everyone happy but at this stage it would seem likely someone will need to pay for this mistake to go away. Otherwise there is a nation of disappointed fans who won’t be seeing Big Brother until at least 2026.

It’s accurate information though.
There may be some truth to it however the source are unknown/unnamed so the information isn't verifiable and shouldn't be considered 100% reliable. For all we know this could just be be someone who has an axe to grind and based on the quotes it definitely feels that way.

What do you make of this? Where this source might be working at.

“Channel Seven might be just wanting to follow the correct protocol but they did get their nose out of joint with the announcement Network Ten was bringing Big Brother home — in its original format,” a well-placed insider said.
