There's absolutely no way.
Outside of the ratings period.
No one is watching TV over Christmas.
Extra staffing and production costs.
Agreed ^^^ and it's kind of cruel to keep people (Staff and HMs) away from their families at that time of the year.
I'm not aware if it's happened on other BBs... but there have been reality TV shows that have done it. BBC's Castaway ran for a year back in 2000. I think John De Mol's latest creation, Utopia, is going to do the same.

I'm looking forward to utopia, apparently the dude who ran fox at the time Utopia was commissioned has since left/been let got and utopia might not make the full year if the ratings are not that crash hot.I'm not aware if it's happened on other BBs... but there have been reality TV shows that have done it. I think we will have a jungle themed back yard, because people have said that they can see palm trees when they are on the giant drop, but beyond that I have no clue...... Also goon keeps saying "something is not quite right" so there's that.Wondering what type of theme will Big brother have this year? Ideas anyone

Thanks, very interesting we will just have to wait.I think we will have a jungle themed back yard, because people have said that they can see palm trees when they are on the giant drop, but beyond that I have no clue...... Also goon keeps saying "something is not quite right" so there's that.
I'm not exactly convinced of this. There's absolutely no way.

The news programs still rate well over a million during non ratings. People are still around to watch TV, it's just that the networks give the impression that they are on holidays so we switch off or watch PVRd stuff or illegally downloaded stuff instead.
I remember last year 7 continued to fast track the Blacklist during our off-ratings season and it was still getting over a million viewers.
I think it's inevitable that the ratings season will become year round. With the decline in viewership all round, the networks can't afford to not grab the potential advertising dollars year round. Maybe not this year, but maybe just maybe nine are going to test the waters with BB?

As you said last year they had palm trees and the backyards theme was a tropical resort, I don't think they would go for that theme again, hence why I suggested a jungle theme, it's the closest thing I could think of that has palm trees without saying tropical resort.Last time I checked.. Palm trees belong on tropical islands.. Malibu, sunset but and surfers paradise on the gold coast.. Not in some "jungle" theme. Also they already had several palm trees in last year's backyard and a jungle theme to match the decor.[DOUBLEPOST=1407759829][/DOUBLEPOST]Last time I checked.. Yes I am aware that oztam collects ratings year round. However there is a distinct difference between the 40 weeks ratings season and the off-season in terms of programming. What I meant was that I think it's inevitable that the networks won't contain their tent pole franchises to those 40 weeks, even the fact that BB may go a week or so into the non-ratings season is an indicatorOztam collect figures 52 weeks a year the BB Season will run a week or so over the "Traditional 40 week ratings period"
Celeb BB or all stars or fans vs faves would make an excellent summer series

Yes! Take note nine executives.. I would happily enjoy that. Even if they air it exclusively on go channel during the summer non ratings period. I've seen it done before with survivor.
You can do it nine.. And I'm sure it will work in your favour
I'd love to know who that is too.View attachment 40578
