Big Brother and Coronavirus

Once again I think it’s fair to say that the silence from CBS speaks volumes. The lack of acknowledgement of any of these rumoured plans speaks to CBS believing there’s still a chance things can or will come crumbling down at a moments notice. Anything we’re hearing right now is part of a hopeful but overly cautious approach and still very much subject to change. They’d have at least announced something if they were confident a series was imminent especially when we’re 2 weeks off the rumoured launch.

I think they're doing all they can do - prepare to launch as soon as they can but be prepared that might not happen too. Surprised to be honest though they are prepping both series to possibly run concurrently again but maybe an admission they need to fill the hours, or that if one doesn't go ahead the other may - not sure what the COVID situation is like in Las Vegas but ATM that looks more likely to get going IMO.

Big Brother Nigeria began last weekend following approval from local government to proceed following a quarantine period for the contestants. Today the national government has ordered they be shut down.

BBUS appeared to invoke the 'bubble' concept which has been praised for the NBA games recently, suggesting they can keep the show completely isolated from the outside.

Although they'd have had to break the bubble almost immediately when they forgot to unlock one door, which seemingly isn't electronically controlled. Just hope they can finish it - it's never really the housemates that's the issue, it's the crew.

It was interesting actually how despite the masks on stage once they were off and the HGs in the house pretty much any form of social distancing was form of social distancing was forgotten. Yes, they should be fine and yes they can't socially distance forever whilst living together, and shouldn't need too either considering the quarantine, but you'd have thought they'd be a bit more caution on initial greetings, and a bit more instruction from CBS to be aware too. Nowadays going straight in for the hugs and handshakes seems an unnecessary risk, even if they are all clear.

(P.S. I did suggest CBS could have shown Over the Top had they not been able to get a series, but then having taken a look back at that the first HoH is based around one housemates getting "infected" and spreading the disease to all the other HMs until the last one standing becomes HoH, so maybe not.
