Three of tonight's BB house promos rolled into one video (including living room ... or could it be an eviction room??):
That all comes across a bit fake. Either they've had Mel film away from the house or just painted the house green and using CSO to decorate it virtually.

The corridor feels very cheap too - like it would all fall down if you leant on one of the archways.

The updates to the eye and visual design doesn’t look great in my opinion, but easily goes along with the Y2K inspired look that Pinoy Big Brother is using for their 4th celebrity season.

However, I can easily imagine them colour coding the big eye for each of the shows (and colour coding in the correct colours too, unlike 9’s last season).

I’m probably in the minority but I’m not really seeing anything that screams we need to be concerned at the moment. While we may be seeing some obvious ITV influence let’s not forget that BB has said the production team was going over past series and taking note of what worked and what didn’t. At worst we’re getting an “adaptation” of an ITV era series and at best what we’re seeing now is the extent of the inspired elements. Let’s also not forget that ITV’s first series wasn’t terrible… What made it bad is that they haven’t really made an effort to make improvements where they should have.

IDK why but for as much as I think this general eye shape has overstayed its welcome within the global franchise I actually don’t mind this. Keeping the OG eye inside keeps it feeling familiar while giving the logo a modern appeal. At worst (apparently my new favourite saying 💁🏼‍♂️) it’s better than what we’ve seen from Nine, 7, AND ITV.

The OG theme song isn’t present in the three new promos, instead they’ve gone all in on Bad Guy by Billie Eilish… not even a combo of both. 😢

Unless the teasers they’re posting on social media are from weeks ago I think it’s pretty obvious Mel isn’t filming from the actual house. The unnatural blur in the background I think is a dead giveaway this is Mel on a couch in front of a green screen.

I actually think this could the actual living room. They possibly chose angles where the house looks most assembled. But who's to say.

The blur between the couch Mel is stilling on and the background is a pretty good indicator the background was added in afterwards.

So sorry if this has already been said but saw on TT that the Housemates are in lockdown!! Awesome news and excited to see. I got a call last week saying I didn't get chosen but congratulated me on making it so far, so I assume they called all the chosen housemates last Friday too :) Looking forward to apply for the hopeful longer run next year!

The housemates are not in lockdown yet. They’re expected to go in this weekend.

Hmm, I disagree. They’re not going to that much effort. Depth of field exists… and even if the whole house isn’t quite complete (look at where the carpet meets the concrete in the Entrance promo), they’ve obviously just used angles and FOV to capture specific areas. (I mean, you can even see what looks like a hot head camera behind Mel in the Lounge promo. They haven’t added that in separately.)

I think you’re giving them a little too much credit by suggesting a green screen. 😆

what were the different stages of the interview process?

That’s definitely more than just depth of field. She might be in part of the house, but those wall panels and lighting effects look digitally extended or even outright replaced with a green-screen composite. You can actually see it around Mel’s outline too; there’s that slightly fuzzy edge that screams compositing, not camera focus.

Ran a few screenshots through ChatGPT and
you can also see signs of digital rendering in the arches themselves. Around the 4-second mark, part of the coloured bands looks slightly pixelated, and the gradient at the top of the arches isn’t a single solid colour. It breaks up in patches, like a compressed or unfinished digital texture. Real painted panels or LED lighting wouldn’t do that — the colour would appear smooth and continuous.

That, combined with the inconsistent blur and the cooler lighting on Mel earlier in the sequence, pretty much confirms it’s a digital or composited setup rather than a physical tunnel.

The blue “eye” background looks digital too. Mel’s lighting is completely neutral and doesn’t pick up any blue reflection from the wall behind her. The background itself stays perfectly even with no texture or shadowing, which wouldn’t happen with real light. You can also see faint halos around her hairline, suggesting she was keyed onto a digital background rather than standing in front of a physical one.

Hate to bring up the old hag but there’s a huge difference between Sonia’s promo being filmed in the actual entrance and Mel’s. You can see depth in Sonia’s while Mel’s shots all look pretty flat especially as Mel gets closer to the camera. Also where the arches meet the floor it all looks too perfect. Sonia’s you can see shadows and how the lighting reflects off her and the rest of the background.

Also if that’s the front entrance to the house where are the hotheads? Where the shot it positioned is at housemate view so in theory you would be able to see them which makes me think this isn’t the house

None of the backgrounds in the three promos are part of the physical sets Mel shot on. Even the one on the couch. There’s no actual depth or proper shadows. The shots all read as 3D Mel on a shallow almost 2D background.

Good work detective! Now that you’ve pointed it out it’s obviously green screen
