I mean just going off assumption, but with the 24 hour production turn around, wouldn’t they need it to at least rate pretty decently with how much that would cost?

I can’t remember but also was there any indication they signed a multi year deal?

The current rumour mill has it that Tully is joining the next season of The Traitors AU with Gretel. Wonder how that will go…
I did see that, didn’t click in my head that Gretel and Tully would interact. So bizarre. Glad Tully is getting another stint, her 2022 storyline ended so abruptly.

My brain can’t help but think of Tim Dormer and how he’ll respond to the show coming back.

Yes, it requires a post production team working pretty much 24/7. I believe the daily highlight shows are screened around 8/9am the morning of broadcast so any changes or edits can be made and the narration (rumoured to be Mike Goldman again) is recorded. I assume 10 are familiar with the process and know what they're getting themselves into. The 24 hour live feed is the pricey one. They need a vision mixer working in addition to a legal team to monitor what needs to be censored.

Endemol contracts average 3 years. No indication of a multi-year deal, but BB isn't the type of show they just bring back for one season - especially one as short as what we're about to get.

I believe it’s a 3 season deal yes.

I mean yeah, but I’m stilll hopeful that this is all because of the holdback.
David Knox on TV Tonight pushed back on me when I suggested they'd probably intended a longer season this year, but I don't buy it:

That’s not my reading of it, and I broke the story of the holdback issue. It was always going to be last in the calendar, but in 2025 you don’t commit to 3 month shows without proof of concept. A short run will test whether it can go longer in 2026.

I did see that but I don’t buy it either. I think it’s illogical to believe that MasterChef was always going to be 16 weeks long. Amazing race was also randomly extended from 12 to 15 episodes when it rated average at best.

I get BB was always going to be last, but those other shows were obviously extended to push it back. It could have launched in September or October and still been “last in the calendar”

Feel free to jump in there and back me up!

I’m going to assume it’s probably somewhere in the middle. This may be a proof of concept series however I’m doubtful 4 weeks was what they initially planned. Also if this is a proof of concept hopefully the powers that be aren’t going to suffer from the same confirmation bias the ones at ITV have been plagued with. Their first ITV season may have exceeded expectations but that doesn’t mean it was perfect either. 10 can’t afford not to listen to critics even if rating are high.

I do however find it strange that 10’s upfronts and talk of season two are happening before they’ve even aired the first making David’s referring to the 2025 series a “proof of concept” a bit strange. I mean obviously upfronts are just a roadmap for the next year but they’d obviously need to have a rough idea of where they’re going to put BB, number of episodes, the lead in, etc. IDK the way things are scheduled outside of North American is still a hard concept for me to grasp 💁🏼‍♂️

I highly doubt 10 is going to walk away from the show if it doesn't rate well next month. Hardly going to abandon a (likely) three year contract are they?

Not going to abandon it but they’re still going to be making key decisions about the show going in to 2026 without having “proved” anything. It’s leading me back to the 2025 series not being what was originally planned. Or on the other hand if David’s correct in saying what we’re getting has nothing to do with the hold-back then I doubt we’ll see the show expanded by more than a few weeks in 2026.

I definitely don't expect to see a 100 day season again. But if the ratings do well they might start stretching it out, like they never learned last time. 8-9 weeks would be fine.

yeah 8-9 weeks is how long survivor goes for and it feels just right as well. Especially since the end of reality shows can be a real slog depending on the cast that’s left.

MasterChef fans were already complaining in week 10 about the pacing. It doesn’t need to be 100 days again but anything short of two months feels pointless to me. You may as well do a celebrity show for that length.

10 News+ only had 105k watching nationally last night which is horrible, hoping it doesn't bring down the ratings for BB.
