Isn’t that how Leon originally got the gig?
I believe Leon was starting to get into VO work and was working as an editor at the time on BB. His “deputy” voices on 9 were better tbh. I agree Leon’s voice sounds too emphasized and polished but I’ll take it over the AI voice from 7.

I have said it before but ill say it again. Seriously couldn't they have found a better voice then Leon again. He doesnt sound intimidating at all or even scary. I wish Nick from 04-07 seasons would come back
Not words I’d use to describe what a BB voice should sound like. Then again I’m someone who liked the original BBUK voices which sounded less like characters and more like people.

As for Leon I don’t think he’s a bad choice and does a decent job balancing BB having a “personality” while still maintaining an imposing quality that commands respect… Unlike whoever is currently the main BBUK voice who IMO sounds like a children’s show narrator.

Nick may be the voice the bulk of us associate with BBAU but TBH the way nominations were handed during that era leaves a bad taste in my mouth. There’s definitely a fine line between being imposing and commanding respect and being a complete asshole. I feel like Leon’s BB is more approachable in that regard.

I think Nick was capable of being more approaching when he needed to be. Don’t forget he’ll have been following directions from Kris on how he interacted with housemates. I associate the voices from 5-7 with BB the most. Nick, Rikkie and I think one other fella, I can’t remember his name.

The UK guy is so stale and hollow sounding. Not the best choice for a singular voice.

Hopefully “interesting housemates” means they are not going in a sexy singles direction which I doubt they will.

I think it’ll be ever more important this season to have at least 3 housemates over 30 at a minimum as I’m gonna assume most of the viewers will be nostalgia viewers, especially with the way the promos are angled targeting the best moments rather than introducing the format to new viewers. I think the new audience will grow as the season continues, providing they can pull it off well.

I’d be satisfied if they went in a direction of a 2003, 2004, 2007, 2013 or 2014 cast, providing they allow for older housemates and cultural diversity, lacking particularly in the 10 series. And tbh some housemates from channel 7 would have been great for this format.
Looking back at some channel 10 series, some housemates were really dull, so hopefully they can add 1 or 2 big personalities to spice things up, if you put too many you get a shitshow like 2008.
I know when BBUK was trying to reinvent itself going in to the “Evil BB” era they said they were inspired by HM’s like Jade Goody and “Nasty Nick” Bateman so when I saw the word “interesting” that’s the sort of casting that came to mind. Like people that still fall in to the category of “everyday Australian” but are people you’d immediately notice in a group of people.

In terms of demographics I tend to believe this series is generally being targeted towards the demographic that watched the original run and the cast should reflect that. So basically 50% of those who’d fall in the age range of your typical OG fan 25+ and 50% of 18 to 25 year olds.

I’d also like to see a focus on POC and LGBTQI+ representation. Some might say this makes the show appear “woke” but that really falls in to the category of “no press is bad press”. If that’s what gets people talking about the show it means it’s reclaimed at least some of its cultural relevance.

He’s terrible. The worst thing about it is that they said that they were inspired by the 7 era BB… Like out of all the things they could have adapted from BBAU that’s the last era I’d want to touch.

It’s also not just the voice it also breaks some fundamental rules about how BB interacts with HM’s… BB isn’t meant to engage in conversation or at least not in a traditional sense. Like there’s a reason they call it the Diary Room and why HM’s interactions with BB are meant to happen there… BB role is to give directions/make announcements and to facilitate diary room entries (which are the verbal equivalent of a written journal entry) by asking probing questions ect. It’s rarely ever a full on back and forth conversation which is why you’d often hear BB refer HM’s back to their fellow HM’s for a resolution to interpersonal or domestic issues.

I also find it incredibly jarring when BB speaks in the first person. To me it breaks the illusion and any sense of authority the character is meant to have.

IDK I’m probably just rambling.

THIS. I absolutely hate first person BB. Tbf Peter did speak in first person in the first two seasons at times but it never bothered me like it does with this producer. Another terrible take from the 7 era.

His annunciation and obvious desire to hear himself speak just adds to my dislike.
