Big Brother 2013

Not sure how well this idea would play out, but I was watching an old live episode from a few years ago yesterday and someone suggested that an interesting twist would be for the HM's to not know who is nominated each week at all and only announce the evictee at the end of the week.

It made me wonder, would a twist like that really be effective? I think it could be.

I mean, is there really any main purpose for the HM's to know who's nominated each week, apart from the obvious reason?

If they were to make their nominations each week as per usual, the public would still know who's up (and absolutely nothing would change on our end, in terms of voting and episode/video packages) with the only difference being that the people in the house would have absolutely no idea who could be leaving until Sonia says "it's time to go..." that Sunday.

I'd say we'd also see another side to each HM due to this, both during the week and especially during the eviction. Plus, it'd be something very different than what we're used to seeing on Big Brother, and HM's could potentially have absolutely no idea who is and isn't well liked amongst each other in the house, therefore making for some really interesting dynamics/viewing.

Could it work?

I like the idea!!!!
It could be nerve wracking for the HM's but that's showbiz. :D

That's a great idea! We wouldn't have them whining all week either about how they thought everyone was their friend!

YES! i have long thought this would be a good idea, i truly believe you would see a difference in the way HM's behaved and interacted if they truly had no idea who was nominated each week. At the moment, when nomintions are announced on a monday night, those that aren't nominated know they have another two weeks in the house and tend to fade away for a few days...
Could also potentially stop some of the nominations talk as no one would have any idea what anyone else was thinking, making even subtle noms talk even harder.

And I'd hate them to just do it as a once-off weekly twist, it should be done all season. Each HM could be told who was nominated with them every week only after they've been evicted. Doing something like this might even affect the way they nominate, knowing that no one will know.

I'd love to see it.

I'm tired of nomination twists and to be honest part of the excitement of nominations is the HM's reactions... IMO by the end of the season such a twist would have lost all appeal... At the end of the day the majority of the reasons given nowadays are trivial anyways and I don't see that changing regardless of how nominations are messed with... I'd like to see a twist that can affect the relationships formed in the house and more twists that will keep HM's from predicting what's to come rather than a cheap gimmick that could have no baring whatsoever...

As somebody suggested last year, I'd at least like to see HMs that are nominated but NOT evicted, free from nomination for the following week. Just don't tell the housemates about the "immunity". That should keep 'em guessing and confused.

As was pointed out, I believe they do this in the US. Having not seen BBUSA, I have no idea if that's true.

Not 100% true... For the first four weeks HG's were partnered although they were playing as individuals... If a HG won Head of Household their partner was granted immunity by default... The HoH would nominate one couple for eviction and the remaining would vote to evict one of the two people... As HG's needed to be nominated as a pair anyone left without a partner was granted immunity through until the fifth week by default... This immunity was called The Golden Key and it was treated as something special despite the fact that by nature of the twist it would have been impossible to nominate this person anyways...

The idea of something like this happening and the HM's not knowing is just as silly as keeping the nominees secret... Aside from the initial novelty neither twist would add any fundamental value to "the game"... This also doesn't take in to account times were there are more than two people facing the public vote...

They'd still know who was liked and who wasn't - they talk about it amongst themselves often enough!

I think it could potentially lead to more temptation to talk about nominations and talking in code... IMO nominations twists rarely live up to the hype...

According to wikipedia. It looks like the prize money will be upped to $500,000 for the winner

I keep on hearing stuff like "This year will be unlucky for the Housemates", "Number 13 will be the unlucky number", "This is the year rejects will be glad they didn't make it into the House".

It is obvious that the big twist of this year will be something the Housemates will not enjoy. I wonder what it will be. I know this is the aim of these type of things and they never live up to the hype but these little pieces of info are getting me excited for BBAU13!!!!

Dear insider06,

This shit makes you excited? Seriously? Are you for real you fucking cunt?!

Love,
ytrewq
I am excited for the upcoming season of Big Brother because I am a huge Big Brother fan. It is not so much the little piss weak pieces of info that make me excited and more the fact that it is some information about the twist. Part of the excitement for me is the new housemates and new twists every year. It is not as if I am jumping up and down in anticipation and excitement because I have seen those few quotes. In the future please refrain from directing disgusting words like c*** at me. I just picture you as some rank bogan who thinks they are "cool" going around calling people fagz and c***s. How lame of you.

and then disappointed when reality hits and you realise it was all hype and no punch right insider06?

I get excited too, we can be weird together, although I expect in this forum ytrewq is the weird one.

Precisely Mistress! I think ytrewq is the weird done everywhere to be honest. You know that typical homophobic, fake tanned, gym junkie, typical GC type person who goes around saying aye bro and calling anybody a tad alternative the lamest word in the world "fag"? I reckon that is ytrewq.

To insider06,

I don't care for this response.

But perhaps my initial message was a little strong for a first post. I've therefore toned this one down (note the absence of the word "dear" and "love").

From,
ytrewq

BTW: A lot of assumptions there oh superior one.
It was a nice and classy first post. Can not blame someone for assuming somebody is a dickhead when they act like one. Your second post was an attempt to be funny. Let's just say it failed miserably.

Watch it. I've already reported you.

You're a dead man posting.
Could not care less about being reported by an idiotic troll to be honest. Even if I did get a ban from the site it wouldn't exactly bother me. You called me a f***ing c*** for posting on a Big Brother forum stating that I am excited about the upcoming season of Big Brother. You are a genius.

Stop feeding the troll. And get back on topic or I'll report you for that too.

I'm the noob, you should be teaching me the rules you c... cool person.
I am not feeding the troll, I am doing what you have just asked of me, teaching you. Teaching you how to not act on this site. If you continue to post/troll the way you do you will cop far worse from many posters on this site compared to what you have seen of me. Please do report me for being off topic, it will be like trying to shoot me but the gun backfires.
