Rewatch Big Brother 2008 YouTube stream (25-26 Oct & 31-2 Nov)

Wait. Is it this website Kyle was just referring to? Brigitte’s ‘friend’ Eric “went online” to “set the record straight” about their situationship?

There couldn’t have been any other unnamed website big enough at the time.

The vibes of this complete and utter mess of a special really shows that some one (maybe K and JO themselves) wanted to make Big Brother like their radio show. The guests, the petty drama slop interviews, the constant emphasis on housemates fucking each other is just like their shitpile radio show.

I wonder if it was executives who asked for this, or it was just Kyle and Jackie O doing the only thing they know how to.

Well this was only 4 days away from news breaking that the show had been axed. The writing was on the wall.

Ugh Kyle speculating about Travis’s sexuality and calling him frigid? How is that remotely ok?

I know Gretel would sometimes randomly ask a loved one if they were gay but she at least didn’t phrase it as a negative thing.

Pamela is such a pro. She's just playing along with all this cringe, thinking "pay up, fuckers".
Totally. As soon as she mentioned she was also filming for her own reality show her incentive became clear. She was getting more out of this than BB ever was.

There is an old interview where she says they were paying her an insane amount of money to do BBAU that she would’ve been stupid to say no. Apparently they paid way more than what she even thought she was worth.

They were that desperate for this Hail Mary to save the show.

Referenced in the Wiki for this season

This is pretty minor but I’m wondering why they were allowed Terri and Cherry when Michelle and Richelle were deemed too similar. Is it the vastly different spelling? Even Terri and Terrence feels borderline and I know Kyle kept calling them both Terri.

She really knew how to milk Big Brother producers, not just form Australia but from around the world, too. She's probably the most booked celebrity in the Big Brother world. Certainly the one that made the most money from it. Two years later, the Indian version paid her a shit ton of money to visit the show, probably only because they had the budget. But there was no need for them to get her on. And she made more money than any other celebrity housemate got for staying at least 90 days (or even longer).

Channel 5 then hired her to launch their civilian version. Bulgaria hired her when they brought back the franchise with a celebrity edition. Germany even hired her twice to boost up ratings.. first for their first celebrity season, then for the civilian reboot a couple of years later (with the first visit being way more successful than the second).

Not everyone is eating up the money though. Germany tried to get Paris Hilton to stay for a few days in their village and offered her a million Euros, which she declined. So they got BBUK's Chantelle instead and sold her as the British Paris look-a-like. She's eventually done the Bulgarian version of the show though. Probably heard from Pam that you won't have to stay overnight and neither sleep nor shower in front of the cameras.

To Alice’s credit, she was the only picking up the slack for the others. While the boys others made total fools of themselves, Alice was the only one keeping that dinner conversation going, being respectful and asking polite and thoughtful questions.

It's a bit unfair to Bridgette that she never got a final daily show after her eviction because the whole thing was eaten up by this cringey dinner party.

Edit: ok at least she got a farewell message in

Jesus. She was probably out of the house within about an hour there. All that hype for nothing…

I assume the following days she was barely in there too.
