The interview with Tully was an interesting rewatch. It almost felt like an old school nominations show styled interview with the evictee. For the first time on the CH9 version, we get to hear what it's like from the evictee's perspective to leave the house and face the outside world. The interview spoke a lot of how big of a talking point the Drully situation was. Sonia had the opportunity to grill her in Gretel fashion, but she didn't. Instead, the audience was able to ask better questions than Sonia could. I suppose it isn't in Sonia's nature to dive too deeply into things at the expense of the other person's reputation.
Also skipping ahead a few eps, I've watched a lot in the last two days and there is so much to comment on. The week 10 eviction of Ben. Just watched the preceding nominations episode and I have a lot of thoughts. First of all, I never understood how he was evicted at the time. I remember reading posts about votes not being verified, there was talk of it being rigged and also just simply the audience feeling as if he was safe and didn't bother to save him. I am not sure I really believe that a huge collective of people all agreed there was no need to vote to keep Ben due to thinking he was safe regardless. This has never really happened before so I don't see a reason for the voting audience to ever think so. I still don't know what to think, it's a very strange situation that changes the direction of the last month of the show greatly.
Ben's shock eviction is very easily avoided if Jade had used her nominations superpower differently, or if one person nominates differently. If the nominees had just remained the normal three or if the superpower has minimal impact, Tahan, Tim and Ed face eviction and Ed most definitely goes home when he should have. Regardless of what Ben fans think, I think he handily survives eviction over the intruders, Mikkayla or even Drew. I think naturally the final five would have consisted of the eventual final four and Ben. Drew most definitely is evicted still in the double and I think with the support Jade had given to her (most likely bought votes IMO) Tahan could possibly be evicted as well. Ben probably wins and a lot of Big Brother history is changed.
I might be making something out of nothing but I firmly believe that if Ben's eviction was due to fan's overconfidence, then it was a one-off due to the fake eviction highlighting his popularity. I don't think the audience would have gone off him, there's no way casual fans and young voters were/are that switched on. I firmly believe Ben's eviction was circumstantial unless there are other reasons behind the result that I am not aware of. But IMO if he isn't nominated this week then he retains his popularity amongst voters and potentially wins the series or just loses to Tim.
