BBAU Rewatch

Weeks 9 and 10 are a bit iffy to watch, with the intruder live specials and evictions/nominations moving to wednesday/thursdays as well as the cancellation of confidential next week, there is a huge decrease in house content. A lot of the focus is on the live shows and intruders so there isn't any major storylines occurring.

Also, does anyone here remember the rumour about Justynn being kicked out of the house after having an altercation with Ed?
There were a lot of threads about the reasons for Justynn's strange departure at the time on this forum. I get the feeling they wanted him to be a producer puppet and upset Tim's game so Ben could win, and he didn't want to go along with what they wanted him to do.

40:49.
The interview with Tully was an interesting rewatch. It almost felt like an old school nominations show styled interview with the evictee. For the first time on the CH9 version, we get to hear what it's like from the evictee's perspective to leave the house and face the outside world. The interview spoke a lot of how big of a talking point the Drully situation was. Sonia had the opportunity to grill her in Gretel fashion, but she didn't. Instead, the audience was able to ask better questions than Sonia could. I suppose it isn't in Sonia's nature to dive too deeply into things at the expense of the other person's reputation.

Also skipping ahead a few eps, I've watched a lot in the last two days and there is so much to comment on. The week 10 eviction of Ben. Just watched the preceding nominations episode and I have a lot of thoughts. First of all, I never understood how he was evicted at the time. I remember reading posts about votes not being verified, there was talk of it being rigged and also just simply the audience feeling as if he was safe and didn't bother to save him. I am not sure I really believe that a huge collective of people all agreed there was no need to vote to keep Ben due to thinking he was safe regardless. This has never really happened before so I don't see a reason for the voting audience to ever think so. I still don't know what to think, it's a very strange situation that changes the direction of the last month of the show greatly.

Ben's shock eviction is very easily avoided if Jade had used her nominations superpower differently, or if one person nominates differently. If the nominees had just remained the normal three or if the superpower has minimal impact, Tahan, Tim and Ed face eviction and Ed most definitely goes home when he should have. Regardless of what Ben fans think, I think he handily survives eviction over the intruders, Mikkayla or even Drew. I think naturally the final five would have consisted of the eventual final four and Ben. Drew most definitely is evicted still in the double and I think with the support Jade had given to her (most likely bought votes IMO) Tahan could possibly be evicted as well. Ben probably wins and a lot of Big Brother history is changed.

I might be making something out of nothing but I firmly believe that if Ben's eviction was due to fan's overconfidence, then it was a one-off due to the fake eviction highlighting his popularity. I don't think the audience would have gone off him, there's no way casual fans and young voters were/are that switched on. I firmly believe Ben's eviction was circumstantial unless there are other reasons behind the result that I am not aware of. But IMO if he isn't nominated this week then he retains his popularity amongst voters and potentially wins the series or just loses to Tim.

Exactly that. Even if it's short and weekly, I just want something extra that involves house chat with no strategy. I just want to get a basic understanding of who these people are.
You and me both. The overwhelming amount of strat-chat makes you feel void of humanity at times.
I don’t know how an audience will get to know HMs if it’s only strategy, perhaps they will surprise us…..?

I’m interested. Did you follow either of the previous two series prior to re-entering the show? If you did were there any expectations you went in with? Or had you not seen it and went in expecting surley the fish?

hungover and got a few days off work. Will probably smash out the last month of 2013 in the next few days. Will enjoy the watch knowing Drew is just as dreamy in real life today as he was 9 years ago on TV.

1:02:14 Drew and Boog are toying with would you rather questions (such as would you rather lose an arm and a leg). Book speaks about how she has a friend who has one leg and is a Paralympian. I assume this person she is referring to is obviously Sam who was on BB2014. Weren't they said to have known each prior to him entering the house?

I met Sam at the 2014 Melbourne callbacks, and he told me he "wasn't a fan of the show but [his] friend was on [the year prior]". I asked who his friend was and yep, Boog.

I saw Carlo at the local tip when i was dropping off some household rubbish.
He was bathing in sludge puddles amongst still debris flocked by seagulls.

The only two housemates I cared about in 2014 were Priya and David and honestly I think if they had teamed up instead of going at each other all the time at least one would have made the final 3. David got completely screwed by the parents nominating in the second to last week meaning Lina who was a complete nothing burger in the house got to go to the final week instead of him

Struggle to name anyone other than Priya and Ryan (only because he won) from BB2014. Somebody mentioned Sam here the other day then there was that magician bloke in a showmance with a combined name but thats about it.

I remember Lisa with the worst boob job ever that unfairly got David into trouble, it was someone else actually commenting on them from memory? And she was with that loser Jake who lived with Tim Dormer. And his pair in the house was the tall oddity Gemma. And who could forget Skye who looks completely different now but still has the best booty ever.

It's funny, looking back through my photos from 2014. I remember so many of the people independently of each other. Skye and the Cat / Lawson stuff stands out the most in my memories from that. Yet a lot of the others just seem to be floating in the ether as housemates I remember but no context.

It's like, "Oh year there was that David person with the beard." Or, that Jake guy. No real memories of anything anyone did, or just a vagueness of them. Independent from anyone else in the house at the time.

Aisha was there, I remember her but I would have struggled to remember the name of Travis.

I remember there was a tall emotional lady, but nothing else. Jason, I remember him being a housemate but literally nothing about him.

Ryan's win is still one of the more perplexing wins. He was a nothing housemate, deliberately so and very rarely dropped his guard and showed he was a bully and a prick. Yet always caught himself and stopped. The epitome of a fake housemate playing the game. Coasting through. Which works when most viewers and voters aren't really paying attention.

Oh yeah I forgot about Jason. More memorable for his appearance on MAFS last year as the friend of a groom, and also for his appearance on idol many many years ago.

I only cared about Skye personally. But yeah I 100% agree with that, I was really annoyed that Lina go to go to the final week. I am willing to bet her vote to win % was lower than 2%

I have a very clear memory of David saying her boobs were saggy and that really upset her. I can't remember what happened after that but I always think of them as rivals.

The only thing I remember of Jason was that other housemates felt like he was always listening in to conversations and was too lose with information.

One housemate who annoyed me was Sandra. I was so excited to watch her but her insecurities got the better of her and she ended up being a real pain the in the ass to watch. I really did like Cat as well until the Lawson stuff. I remember the week she was saved with the most votes and I was so happy for her. Only for he to meet a very nasty downfall with her public perception.

It may not do anything for the psychological part of the show but it makes for great TV, I have always loved the freeze task. It made for some hilarious moments.
-20:21 the clown throwing pie in their faces. Funny.
-26:21 the choir coming in. HILARIOUS.
-56:30 Tahan's family coming in. This scene made me cry.

And then of course at 18:01 the moment where Tully tells Drew she's "single". A scene which I am sure we will see repeated through flashbacks many times in the new season.

Nice to remember when @Estelle.Landy went to Ed's eviction at 15:06. Estelle I do wonder, do you LOVEEE Drew as much now after living with him as you did watching him? ;)

One of BBAU’s best tasks ever.

When I re-watched this recently I was CRYING with laughter. So so funny. You sort of need the context of the weeks prior with the band task songs to get the most of it, but still hilarious.

Them adding the BB theme song in acapella at the end kills me.

I’ve been a lurker of this site since 2013. First time posting. Made a new account just so I can post. Started watching in 2012 but I think my favourite season out of the channel 9 seasons is 2013. I’ve watched the 2013 season 5 times since it first aired. Excited for the new season especially with three of my favourites from the 2013 season returning

I think someone like Rohan would’ve done much better in the 2014 season. He was doomed to fail by being in the 2013 season. Also I’m surprised someone like Xavier didn’t last long either. But he had a secret mission from Surly to complain about everything for a day….which he did and the housemates then mentioned how annoying he was in the next nominations. It’s a shame he left so early.
