BBAU 2025 house in Dreamworld Exhibition Centre

There must be a ceiling that's going to be installed. If they don't it would allow interior noise to carry, such as from the diary room. There will also be production staff working around the perimeter, especially when tasks are being set up. BB ceilings feature heavy lighting fixtures so maybe that's why they're going in later? Wild guess though, but no ceiling is very odd.
I’m curious how they got away without a ceiling in the White Pavilion?

I didn’t watch 7s version aside from a couple episodes of their first season. I’d assume the DR must’ve had one. Obviously the designer knows what they’re doing. It’s just odd to leave the truss, wiring and support cables visible.

The AC unit literally touches the top of the set walls in one of those pictures, so perhaps there isn’t a ceiling.

What’s also interesting is the camera runs added space and noise dampening between rooms. It’ll be interesting to see how it’s all finished.

I've literally just been trying to figure that out myself. 😆

I skipped through the first episode of the Love Island season... it feels like it had a different "look" to it than the others, with lots of shots looking down on the HMs instead of straight on. I guess if they're not doing ceilings, that'd be a benefit of doing all/mostly remote cameras.

I also wonder if they just made the walls really high to compensate, like in this hideous giant empty holodeck of a bedroom. 😬 Which doesn't seem to be the case in the new House, so maybe that's a sign there will be a ceiling idk

Hopefully they give it some kind of ceiling but not the end of the world if they don't though you'd think would give better acoustics, especially as it's not being built in a sound stage.

No camera runs wouldn't be an issue - many versions now are almost exclusively remote cameras. Even if they did have ome camera tracks behind mirrors surely makes more sense for them to be moved remotely now rather than be manned.

Doing some digging in to BBCAN’s houses as we usually got some teasers of the house under construction especially in the early years and I know we saw the first house in a very similar state. I found this picture of the BBCAN 2 house under construction showing that the ceiling wasn’t in place until later in the build albeit they did have supports to build it on to. The production designer for BBCAN was Peter Faragher and although a bit difficult to dig through his feed his IG account @Faracaster does have some behind the scenes images of various houses under construction if you’re interested.

Thats how Aus did it starting with season 3. Granted, they still had manned cameras, but the robo cams were placed entirely behind the mirrors. There's usually one remote operator for x amount of cameras. My initial thought was it could be hard to cover everything efficiently, but I'd expect the professionals have figured that out based on what ever their budget is.

Kingston's photos show that the mirror openings would've been visible if they were using runs, so my guess is a bunch of fixed PTZ cameras rigged to the walls. I find that makes the house environment look a bit clogged and busy, but I guess we shall see.

Edit: The Canadian houses look like they were gargantuan!

Video of the 2014 “media day” (which is essentially a test run for the series) gives a much better view of the finished house. I actually prefer the way the ceiling wasn’t addressed in the second with lighting for the main living space being built in to the ceiling.

I guess if you include the fact that the traditional backyard was built within the studio due to BBCAN being filmed in winter yes but from the second series onwards was actually much more compact and built over two levels due to space constraints. Honestly I think Peter Faragher might be one of the best production designers the world of BB has seen. You hardly tell sometimes that despite using nearly identical layouts year on year that it’s the same house and I do like how he executes one continuous and all encompassing theme vs BBUS that tends to do various interpretations of the theme in different rooms.

Here are some tours of the second BBCAN house…

Also apologize for all the BBCAN spamming 😳
take it to the BBCAN house thread! ;)

It looks like there's ample room to chuck a ceiling over the top of those walls like and rig some overhead lighting like they had in the previous Ten era.
I was more interested in seeing how they treat those canopy supports in the backyard - seeing how BBCAN built around them was an interesting touch I'd forgotten about, but it looks like the BBAU team are just tearing them out based on the most recent pool photo?

Jebus the pool is less then 3m in diameter.
It'll serve its purpose of advertising Prestige Plunge Pools to cashed up bogans who are trying to fit a pool in their yard around their Ford Raptor and tinny.

You’ll be suprised BUT there actually was a type of ceiling!
It appears the North Shore house was the one that didn’t
