BB27 USA - starts 10 July

Since the friday show is airing until September 26th it could be another 90 day season. Initially I was pumped to read 90 minute episodes, but realising it is the Wednesday show thats being extended the veto comps will probably be enlongated with many more repeated confessionals on how the veto works... ugh

I'm super keen though, it looks like we're in for a lot of Big Brother from July-December with US, UK and AU taking up almost the entire last half of 2025. BB fans get keen because this is going to be a massive year for English speaking Big Brother.

I can see where you’re coming from in terms of the 90 minute Wednesday episode but I can’t actually see them being able to expand the Veto Comp beyond where it was already at. I think it’s far more likely we’ll actually see the Veto Ceremony in the Wednesday episode on a constant basis vs having it spill over in to Thursday.

As noted several times there was a marked improvement in overall storytelling last season and IMO this additional time added to the Wednesday episode has more to do with addressing issues with pacing than it does with padding things out.

If this would have happened several years ago I’d 100% agree with you but it does seem like Grodner & Co have been making honest attempts to actually improve the show.

I’m also quite certain that this particular change signals a return of the AI Arena in some form. Which would necessitate the need to have POV pretty much wrapped up prior to the live show.

Ugh. They're doing 90 minute episodes with this too? 🤮

I'd been watching The Amazing Race for years and gave up very quickly after they expanded the episode length because they were just inserting so much pointless footage to service the CBS mandate to extend the show. Survivor suffered the same fate too.

When they're messing with the pacing of such long running shows that people are so used to, with the exception of one off special episodes, it just makes it feel like they go on and on forever for no real reason (other than to save CBS some money my having to pay for a third show for the night).

Especially as they've pretty much dropped the extra comps that aired on Sundays now, usually bumping the HoH comp over instead.

As generic as ever though better than the other promi which featured the exact reason I gave up on it last year.

Generic because HG’s aren’t yet in lockdown. Last years promo was better TBH…

I’m still not able to wrap my head around why you hated last season when I my eyes it was the antithesis of what’s been missing for at least the last 15 years… The pre-jury was extremely old school, unpredictable from week to week, and completely unhinged at times. A complete return to form for a show I thought was starting to outlive its expiration date.

IDK how I'm gonna be able to watch this series, since 2021 I've been able to purchase a US giftcard for paramount plus to pay for the US account but they've geo blocked the redeem giftcard feature even with VPNs turned on 😭

Where do you get stuck? I've never used gift cards for Paramount+ US, but http://paramountplus.com/redeem still shows up for me with VPN on.

I usually buy US gift cards for iTunes and sign up with an American Apple account via the apps for iPhone.

I’m actually digging this theme. It’s giving Tower of Terror vibes.

Also is it just me of have they taken out some of the camera runs. Specifically in the bathroom?

I think they just changed the layout and moved the gym upstairs (where the have-not room was) and changed the downstairs-area between the bathroom and the kitchen back to a lounge.

Edit: EW has more pictures from the house:

They call one of the bedrooms the "Attic Bedroom of Oddities", so they might have moved the gym to one of the bedrooms near the lounge if they want the attic bedroom to be closer to the actual attic.

I like the design though.. doesn't even look like a BBUS house (except for maybe Celebrity BB). It's so coherent. Wish they kept the little wall though where the reception is now.. last year it had a longer wall because auf that AI screen in the living room and I liked that it cut off the living area form the kitchen, at least a little bit.

Dumb to have a two part premiere over 3 days. Indeed although the live premieres were never great I think they just needed to rework them rather than drop them. Just go back to basics and rather than multiple mini challenges just cut it to an hour with the first 30-40 minutes being the HGs moving in in groups of 4 and then the final part being the HoH comp.

It seems production planned for a 2 night premiere but were given Thursday instead of Wednesday. I didn’t mind last year only being a day behind but yeah delaying feeds for 5+ days is ridiculous.

They should have adjusted their plans accordingly.

The house really is one of their better efforts - a bit more BBCan than BBUSA.
Back when BBCAN was still just a dream I’d always hoped that if it ever became a reality that it would encourage changes to BBUS and in this case it seems like they’ve taken several BBCAN themes and actually improved on them. Also interesting that I’ve seen this series be referred to as the Summer of Mystery which echos Summer of Secrets from BB6 which turns 20 on July 7th.
