BB/CBB UK - Rewatch discussions

BBUK8 Week 9 Done:
  • On The Couch this week had Judy James explain how watching the guys eat may give clue on what kindof lover they are, Types of Paranoia (Incl. Persecution, Nihilist, Grandiosity etc) Explained, Drawing a picture of Big Brother experiment with Carole, Gerry, Chanelle and Ziggy’s pictures and a deeper look at the new halfway housemates profiles.
  • What a turbulent week this was! The halfway housemates each get a couple hours in the main house one by one. meanwhile Jonty is talking about Spanking with the others, and when he gets in the house puts on a bit of a show with his stuffed animals and also has been wearing some different shirts with country flags on them.
  • The fire alarm goes off and prompts a brief evacuation through the bedroom, they come back in and because the alarm aoutomatically opens the doors, they crash the halfway house through the storeroom for a moment to hug the others (previously Ziggy and Brian had a bit of a shout through the door on the first night).
  • Tracey and a couple of the others start getting ‘Sketchy’ vibes from some of the halfway crew and how much they know about them from watching on the outside. Brian wasn’t that impressed with David seeming to blank him whilst Gerry wants to keep him in.

  • Chanelle cant seem to hack it with new girls coming in again, and Ziggy gets cold feet again about dealing with this showmance with the way Chanelle's behaving and it seems like a bit of a mix of attention seeking or insecurity perhaps. Chanelle is flabbergasted by Ziggy blurting out the ‘It’s not you its me’ line to her in the bathroom. She asks BB to leave the house again.
  • This causes a lot of emotions to run wild with Gerry and the twins crying and pleading her to stay when BB gives her her suitcase to pack. hoever at the last minute, Chanelle decides to come back from the diary room and speaks to Ziggy who is a bit torn up about it that he feels awful if he’s the cause of her wanting to walk. Chanelle speaks to the psychologists and agrees to give it another day or two.
  • The Halfway housemates all come across for a dinner before the housemates make their decision. Shanessa gives a bit of a strip and lapdance to Liam and Brian. They also urge Chanelle to stay.
  • However, the next day it blows right up again between Chanelle and Ziggy in a massive row about Ziggy cant seem to win with asking Chanelle if she wants him to come talk to her or not. He also blurts out his exes name Sarah during this instead of Chanelle. Last straw for Chanelle, who promptly comes to the diary room to set the walk in motion for good, goes to collect her things and leave the twins a note, then Walks after BB checks with her one last time. The Twins get a bit teary when they call out to the diary room and realise she’s actually gone when they find the note. Everyone takes a moment for it to sink in.

  • The Housemates choose David and Kara-Louise to become full housemates. Shanessa is upset but BB tells her its not over just yet. The housemates have to choose one original to go over the Halfway house with no guarantee of return. Ziggy wants a shake up after the whole Chanelle thing so he volunteers. Theres a few conversations about some opinions shifting on David like he’s got a bit of a game plan.
  • Theres a ‘Jack In The Box task where the halfway housemates are dressed up in costumes (Ziggy is a fairy, Shanessa a Cow) and have to guess to come out closest to 8:10pm. The Others watching in the main house try to call out to Ziggy, but it’s Shanessa who wins the task and comes over, choosing Liam to replace her as she knows Amy likes him so want to get them together.
  • Speaking of which, Liam goes on out loud about how he’s a bit starved for erm attention… and later in a chat with Amy on the common room couch you can cut the UST in the air, they end up making a little bed with the mattresses on the floor and getting frisky. BBLB with Chanelle’s help shuts down the Chiggy O Meter and puts up a ‘Lamy’ one.
  • Here I am thinking initially, ok guess that maybe The housemates nominate one other beside Ziggy and whomever survives the eviction chooses one other HWH to come back with them, then I was getting a bit on edge of my seat thinking when BB announced theres one more chance to win a perm spot left, that at least one of Liam and Ziggy mightnt make it back perhaps, but no theyve twisted it a different way.
  • So all 4 of them are coming back, but replacing themselves, and this time the 3 HWH that won spots are also eligible. This makes it easy for Liam and Ziggy to just shove David, Kara and Shanessa back over, but they aren’t too happy with the way Amy in particular (Jonty’s reasoning softens his impact a bit I think is what some were saying) was so quick to throw them up for the vote. Tracey also comes over with reasoning that She seems popular with the public.

  • Later when the final Halfway housemates come back over for a last dinner, Things are initially a bit frosty between Amy and Shanessa, but they appear to talk it out a bit. Caroles also a bit wary of Amy. Before they head back over, Liam thinks it might be wise to lay low about their little thing the other night for a bit. BBLB’s Lamy Meter gets a bit snowflakey and penguiny for now lol.
  • The Halfway housemates do a mini shopping task to eat and drink things in the diary room watched by the others. David Tracey and Kara finish theirs (Kara Louise hums and moans a bit eating hers). But Shanessa refuses to drink a pint of Mayonnaise. James Corden on Big Mouth Parodies this by BB telling that its something else white and creamy. LOL.
  • The eviction takes place and its Shanessa and David evicted, Im still not that fussed about Kara-Louise, It would be interesting to see the percentages for this one if they were released, It it was a vote to save it might potentially have her as one of the evictees as maybe not many would be motivated enough for what we’ve seen so far to vote for her. Anyways thats the way it went.

  • BBLB finally declared a winner (voted on by the audience to each of 3 20 second pleas, I thought they made a good call with #3 ‘Im A Mug’ - Hers was well spoken and referenced I thought compared to the other two seemed to get tongue tied and relied on punny poems about theirs). the housemates have found it and seem to think its a bit strange.
  • Some of the other guests included Charley and Chanelle (they both appeared on the same episode of Big Mouth too which caused a bit of a stir - Hosts James Corden (pre US Talk show fame) and Mathew Horne both doing Gavin and Stacey at the time said they didnt speak to each other during ad breaks and Chanelle then cancelled her Wednesday appearance because Charley was on again and she also apparently had something else on. She came back for the Sunday BBLB show (to be mentioned on Wk10’s update).

  • Anyway some other guests this week included Lauren Laverne, Melinda Messenger (CBB2),Matt Willis from Busted (whom many guests said David looks like Leon who does the BBLB shout out and guest card pop up titles on screen, F&F plea segment had Dermot dress u in the fairy outfit. Also voiceover man Redd Pepper (with a John Farnham You’re The Voice intro, (They also did Spice Girls ‘Goodbye’ and Spice Girl puns for the BBLB news segment when Chanelle left)) did BB’s voice in the actual house one day this week and Brian yelled out ‘Whoz this geezer doing Big Brother???’ LOL.
  • They also sent Charley out to Sunderland to meet the locals, B Team had Glyn visiting Brighton Beach (cameo from Pete BB7), Nikki visiting a dictionary expert, Spiral going to a Greek Wine festival talking about Gerry. Big Mouth had two guys also named James Corden and Mathew Horne, and a drag/trans show vox pops segment featuring cameos from Lea? Susie and Richard from BB7. Dermot was on the Friday episode with Michelle Gayle.
  • More fun in the house, Whilst Ziggy, Carole and Liam are in the Diary Room, the rest of the housemates barricade the door a bit with chairs and blankets which they then push aside coming out.

    Onto the next few episodes!

It's interesting reading your thoughts on BB8, particularly the Halfway House twist. I have tried to rewatch BB8, but I never make it past the first few weeks.

BBUK8 Week 10:
  • On The Couch Had Geoffrey Beattie break down the body language of the 3 new Hm’s when asked about having a game plan, Tomasz went through the psychology of Humour, Cecelia’s experiment this week had Amy doing impressions of Amanda and Liam, Brian did Amy, and discussed if the newbies are likely to be nominated.
  • The Aerobics session this week is part of a task for everyone to sweat out a certain amount. They pass and a new section of the house opens up, a bar section behind the pool. BB throws them a pool party.
  • This leads to a bit of a tiff between Ziggy and Gerry, ‘Globe ball’ gate, when Ziggy ends up kicking the beach ball with the map of the world on it Gerry warned him about wanting to use later over the house wall. Liam in the background stirring him up in jest (again later when Gerry and Jonty fail the diary room quiz as part of the task coming to the diary room as ‘most knowledgable’.
  • Tracey and Brian bring up the way Liam’s fling with Amy might make him look to his attention, and he gets a bit self conscious about it. Later he checks with Amy and she insists she’s fine with it and its not all serious - later in the week though they are back to lying around with each other and just mucking about casually. And Liam gets back to his usual self with the Twins.

  • This weeks task is set around a Time Machine in the Diary room. Kara-Louise goes ahead to 3057 or something to retrieve the task instructions/results that say they failed the task. The first time traveller group is Ziggy, Carole, Gerry and Tracey who travel back to Victorian times of 1867 with tasks including inventing electricity, apple bobbing, dancing (Gerry does a bit of the Macarena moves anachronistically lol) and Boot polishing.
  • Whilst they’re in the room, Kara-Louise gets to work on cooking a roast chicken in Carloes absence, however she uses a bit of the Nut mix Carole was saving as the stuffing, which ticks her off a bit when she returns.
  • The twins travel back to Day 2 and are given the choice of playing as one and being up this week, or continue to be separate and choose one to be up for eviction. They choose to play as one, Which I think may be a smart move when it comes to the vote to win in upping their profile kinda thing perhaps. This is discussed on BBLB and Big Mouth this week.
  • Liam, The Twins and Amy ’s time travel task is prehistoric times and skinning rabbits. Brian and Kara-Louise go back to BB3 in 2002, and look who walks in for a cameo, Alex and Adele. They are also interviewed in character on BBLB when Dermot tries out the ‘time machine’.

  • Dermot also does it for Big Mouth this week, emerging in a 70’s kinda get up to visit this week’s Host, Emma Griffiths. Its funny with hindsight if the time machine was actually real, he could’ve gone to BB18 or something and seen that She is now the host of the show on Channel 5, haha. Anyways he also dresses in spandex silver suit that was showing some bulge for the Friday F&F segment and visiting Davina, who comments that he looks like a sperm, to which Dermot says that a sperm is the last thing she should be near lol savage.
  • Other guests on Big Mouth include Matt Willis, Matt and Darren from Hollyoaks, and David & Shanessa (on separate episodes). BBLB had John McCririck, Booby and Copper drop in, BB states that Jonty’s UK country flag t shirts and hats aren’t deemed a message to the outside, Brian explaining what a ‘Yoghurt Top’ means in the diary room, and Pam Spurr for some dream analysis (The housemates had a mini task to eat cheese then try and guess BB’s ‘Dream’ that played in the backyard (it was 3 figures dressed in costumes from previous tasks (hotdog suit, Clown and Kylie dress) all dancing to Swan Lake).
  • Also Move over Chiggy and Lamy monuments, they made way for ‘Brimanda’ as the two finally kissed this week. This was accompanied by a harp playing cupid on BBLB, who became a recurring background character during the week’s segments lol. International cross was to a guy from England who had been in BB Pinoy in Philippines.

  • Nominations took place with the 3 newbies all up along side the Twins. They got to then travel back a day to watch the nominations back, which meant that everyone could discuss this weeks nominations out in the open. Ziggy ends up telling Gerry he nominated him after the ball thing.
  • The housemates incurred too many fails in the task and fail overall - Liam travels to the same room Kara did at the start and back to deliver the result. BB again confiscates all current food from the house in line with new Shopping budget for next week.
  • There is a Fashion runway task between Ziggy’s team and the Twins team. Carole and Brian are the judges for coming to the Diary room as the 2 ‘most judgemental’ housemates. Songs performed to include Rogue Trader’s ‘Fashion!’ and JT’s SexyBack. The Twins team won. Amy is Evicted with over 50% of the vote. The housemates afterwards get a bit tipsy and some rowdiness goes on in the bedroom, Tracey in particular jumps in the pool and is a bit jolly. The next day they get a Raver themed aerobics session with some fun outfits.

    Onto the next few episodes!

How are you finding this series? BB8 was the first one I really struggled with.
Its doing alright in keeping things chugging along IMO, a little like BB4 in some ways Im thinking in regards to just when you think it could be starting to hit a lull, a bit of a twist or turn jibs it up a little. Like they managed to get good mileage out of Charley escaping the vote up to Week 8, then Chiggy starting to drag on a bit that then really imploded spectacularly, in the same week the Halfway House has kindof set up the home stretch section, also Ziggy seems to have been given a bit of room to do something else etc.

Already something a little different seems to be happening with the selection of noms again for week 11.

BBUK8 Week 11:
  • On The Couch Had Judy James on to discuss the Body language and signals of Brimanda, Az with Cabin fever and how the ‘closed institution environment affects the housemates. They did a where do you see yourself in 10 years and what happened once you got out experiment, Jonty, Liam and Tracey had some interesting responses as to their self perceptions and stuff. Also Twin Psychology.
  • BBLB had Amy and Wendy Richards on Sunday playing a similar to last season’s segment guessing if housemates got a question right or wrong. Wendy went on a bit of an extended airing of her issues with Ziggy, followed up by a right of reply from one of Zig’s F & F the next day. Dermot also had to point out in BBLB news back at claims by The Daily Star they had faked who Tracey’s F & F were for some reason.
  • Other BBLB guests included Tre from The Apprentice, and Shannon Elizabeth from American Pie. Dermot also travelled to the Big Mouth studio via green screen in this week’s task ‘Guru outfit, and also a Green screen segment with floppy feet in the F & F pleas this week. International Webcam was fro Malaysia. B-Team had Nikki visit a toy exhibit, Glyn visiting Jonty’s museum workplace etc.
  • Big Mouth had Pete Burns as host this week, which had some amusing cracks, and stumbles with the autocue but was funny. There were a few ex-hm’s in the audience this week, including Eugene (BB6) on one ep and both Glyn (BB7) and Kinga (BB6) together on another. Charley also phoned in. Guests included Amy, Wendy Richards, Dane Bowers, etc.

  • Ok so on to the actual house action this week, another quite packed week! There was an entertaining mini task where Housemates had to name as many synonyms in a certain time for a word. Brian got Women, Liam got Breasts while Gerry got Penis. Liam won a free burger and fries meal and drink.
  • Interesting Ziggy shares a backstory about knowing Duncan from Blue. Kara Louise gets told off later by BB for trying to reassure Brian that he is probably liked by the public. Brian has a bit of a moment about it in the bathroom whilst Ziggy comes in and gives him a bit of a pep talk.
  • This weeks task is about Self-Improvement/being a ‘Guru’. Hms are dressed in kindof toga outfits and have daily ‘circle of life’ dashes to the stumps outside when the Didgeridoo sounds and before ‘Age of Aquarius’ starts playing. Housemates will each compete in 3 tasks of ‘Mind Body and Soul’ to gain ‘Guru status’ and be exempt from further tasks this week and be immune from nominations, which arent happening this week.
  • They all give individual lectures, Brian gets music, goes from talking about The Beatles and The Streets to Beyonce and Rihanna, Gerry tells Tracey about George Orwell’s 1984 for hers about Literature, and Gerry of course is about Art, the Mona Lisa. Carole Helps the twins with theirs about Politics, they guess that Gordon Brown has won the election to be PM.

  • The MInd task is the housemates take two separate IQ tests and they must improve overall a certain % and the most improved % individually wins the Mind Guru. They pass and Ziggy ends up having the most improvement, gaining Guru status.
  • The second task, the Body task is an obstacle course in the backyard. Gerry gets a bit stroppy about having to sit out because of his back pain and also getting paranoid again about being put up and having to face the crowd outside. Ziggy tries to reason with him and calm him down. Kara-Louise sprains her ankle in the second run and Gerry being a bit kooky and chaotic again tries to do some Aura waving his hands about to help despite Brian being a bit wtf are you doing Gerry give her some space. LOL. The Twins improve the most during this task, although they’ve incurred 3 other fails already - they can only afford one more.
  • Gerry, The Twins, Kara and Jonty get told off by BB for drawing with makeup on the task envelope even though it was harmless boredom and not messages. They have to now be the sole cooks and cleaners until further notice. This of course annoys Carole.
  • Theres some more arguments about food, as Carole and Gerry clash over Carole trying to be controlling with who is eating what at what time or something. The last task is the soul task. The remaining housemates all take a lie detector test in the diary room played to the others It comes down to Tracey and Brian who answered all their questions truthfully. I think the rest only incurred one ‘lie’ so they passed the overall task. The housemates choose Tracey to win the Soul Guru title. Brian is ok with it because he wants to be up to gauge if the public actually want him in or not.

  • What they don’t know until Friday is that its a bit like the similar eviction in BB6, where the 2 most voted of the six nominees will then be decided upon - but this time its just by the 3 Gurus. On one hand though (and It’ll be interesting to see if they recap and delve deeper into this on Wk 12’s On The Couch) is how exactly they did the Lie Detector since they didn’t appear to actually be hooked up to anything and it may have been something like that ‘voice stress analysis’ thing they tried on BBAU - which feels in some ways a little bit manipulated, even though they wouldnt know who would be left as contenders since it was the 3rd task, and if coming down to 2 for a vote was ultimately left up to the housemates to decide between was done on purpose perhaps as kindof foreshadowing the Guru’s vote, It’d be interesting to see if any audience reaction picked it up. It wasn’t really touched on on Big Mouth so far.
  • Also having the first two be percentage based improvement metric, If Gerry really was that smart, maybe he could’ve tried holding back the first attempt and really tying the second time, but then OTOH I guess there’s other variables at play to err on taht IYKWIM, like overall task might have been put at risk, or other housemates may have had the same idea so It mightn’t have been as good a strategy after all, I dunno. It did make things interesting nonetheless and then there was the other dynamics and slight drama that fed into things as well.

  • Mainly Carole and Gerry having quite a week - from their arguments. To also perception of Tracey changing after the Lie Detector - she ended up getting put offside by of all things Gerry lying about his age by 2 years on which side of 30 he was, and also the task exposing that she didnt believe Chiggy was real. Theres a bit of a back in forth between the three of them in the bedroom over it.
  • There’s a lot of disharmony around Carole policing the food as well. Liam gets her offside by talking about it and bringing it up, getting Carole a bit teary, Then She snaps and swears at Brian during the Shopping list about tomatoes. Later because she whisked an egg showing Kara Louise how to do it, and also hid a biscuit stash and gave it to the others whilst all the food was taken before the new list, BB cancels the Luxury budget theyve just put in and has them re do it as a basic budget. Ziggy gets pretty ticked off about it for a moment in the diary room. That night Gerry and Carole are having a shouting match again whilst the others leave them to it, and in the morning they apologise to each other but then Carole is still snapping at Gerry for putting water in a pitcher out on the table.
  • Meanwhile theres some lighter moments though, BB calls Freddie and Monkety Tunkety to the diary room for a mini task - BB sends them ‘On Holiday’ and the housemates get some postcards they have to guess where they are to get some treats. Before returning them both to the house. Jony asks one of the twins what the most Jewish country is - she guesses ‘Israq’ lol.
  • Amanda starts getting unsure about going any further with Brian or if they work better as friends here or on the outside, Carole and Tracey give her a bit of a pep talk and Tracey listens to Brian. Later on They agree to go back to just friends for now (Dermot takes down the Brimanda plaque on Sunday’s BBLB).

  • The eviction takes place, it’s between Carole and Gerry, Gerry urges the Twins who are up to vote first to put him out he’s ready to go and for Carole to stay, followed by Tracey (whom was a surefire vote for him anyways I think) and Then Ziggy just goes along with it. He was actually second most % with only 24 to Caroles 49% but was ready to go he says. He has a pretty funny interview with Davina.
  • Only 2 weeks left. I’m thinking next one will likely be a Double to get down to 6 for Finale week. We’ll see.

    Onto the next few episodes!

BBUK8 Week 12:
  • On The Couch: Body language between Ziggy Liam and Brian in the Diary room, different Bitching styles from Ziggy (Martyr), Liam (Status Boosting), Carole (Paradoxical) and Tracey (Faciliative). Experiment comparing Brian, Tracey and The Twins self portraits from before the house to now, and Carole how she views herself as the provider in the house by stashing food etc and how conflict arises from that.
  • Week 12 begins over the weekend by Amanda voicing her thoughts to Brian and them dialling it back to the friendzone for now. Gerry tells the others not to trust Tracey as shes playing a game before he left, which Brian brings up with Tracey a few days after. There’s a mini task to stump BB with questions. Brian successfully stumps BB asking when Neighbours first aired in the UK. Jonty also does with a historical question. BB then asks the housemates all trivia together in the Diary room to win Pizzas which they share around except for Kara Louise who eats all of hers.Later Ziggy and Carole have a bit of an argument about their stashes of bread.

  • Speaking of Neighbours, Blair McDonough (BBAU1) and Jonathan Dutton from neighbours were on Sunday’s BBLB (they were in a stage show ‘Vegemite Tales’) and in the Camera run. Other Guests included Gerry and Freddie, Intl Webcam cross was the Host of BBAfrica, All Saint’s Melanie Blatt. Jenny Eclair was funny, Dermot’s face when she was going on about saving Brian from all the SLAGS was a bit priceless. They also had a bit of a dud segment wheel of ex hm’s, to call and see what they’ve been up to. None of Jonathan, Shabnam or Seany picked up and Jenny goes ‘oh maybe Jonathan’s in rehab again, he mightn’t have phone access’ bit awkward.
  • Chloe and Jack Madeley (At first I was a bit who? then saw that Richard and Judy are their parents oh okay then) hosted Big Mouth this week. On the episode with Richard on it, it had a field day with the random scenes this week of Jonty just casually flaunting his dong in the bathroom around Kara Louise then later drying it in pose under the hair dryers. They also had some segments skits from the POV of the stuffed toys and their dress up counterparts they’ve been using for a couple of VT’s on Big Mouth etc this season. Other guests included Gerry, Lisa Faulkner, Paul Moreley etc.

  • This weeks task is ‘BB’s Finishing School’ theres some posh looking furniture strewn throughout the lounge and the housemates get some outfits to wear. They have to try to keep swearing and non etiquette to a minimum (covering with pardons or ‘Balderdash’s or ‘Whoopsies’) although they clearly struggle with this along the way (Carole lets out a massive fart). It’s all in preparation for an Etiquette quiz and tests of ‘Deportment’ and ‘Pronunciation’ etc leading up to a ball and dinner at the end of the task.
  • Amanda has to have BB replace like her 12th microphone of the series, as punishment, she has to speak through a megaphone until further notice and carry it around. Tracey has a bit of a moment struggling to do the elocution practice saying she cant do it.
  • Nominations take place, during which Kara annoys Ziggy calling him ‘Goldilocks’. Ziggy changes his vote from Jonty to Tracey, and feels a bit rough about it after they are announced, what they don’t know is that It was best of 3 and fora. double, and him voting Tracey didn’t put her up, it only prevented more on her level form being put up. It’s Jonty, Kara and Tracey up. Traceys a bit miffed, Jonty and Kara Louise again feel a bit on the outside and out of place at times.
  • They navigate the Deportment and posture section of the task through an obstacle course outside which only Carole drops her book. Later The Boys are a bit weirded out by Kara Louise plucking her armpits in plain sight in the bedroom.
  • Theres a bit of a discussion between Jonty, The Twins and Liam about Bisexuals, Liam perhaps makes a bit of an uneducated comment for the times about being wary of dating a bisexual there could be more chance of them cheating. Later in the week Carole upsets Sam by pointing out to her and Liam that she thinks the cameras focus on them when he’s just with her her and not Amanda mucking around like theres something more going on (Sam has a boyfriend that so far has not appeared on BBLB or anything as they seem to be keeping things a bit private or whatever). Brian and Amanda give her a pep talk not to worry about Carole just being gossipy (she may think she’s doing them a favour).

  • The Girls all pick a partner to practice dancing for the ball, Twins+Liam, Carole+Jonty, Kara+Ziggy and Tracey+Brian. The Dinner comes around but its a bit tense in the air as Carole mentions to Ziggy that she can see some task breaches occurring right in front of her. They come back to the main house after dancing and learn they passed the task with only a few fails (although it seems BB may have been lenient on some counting multiples as one between sections of the task kinda thing IYKWIM perhaps). Tracey is going through cig withdrawals and gets a bit teary being consoled by the others. Ziggy and Carole clash again over Ziggy wanting to see someone else have a go at the shopping list the next day. They all rally around thinking of ways to get in before Carole takes over. Carole just wants to put her bid in and lets the others have at it but at least Brian is there this time taking an active role and Ziggy’s pleased with that.
  • BB offers ca few of them a mini task to make him laugh in return for a pack of cigs, Liam wins but he cant give them to anyone else. Brian gets super excited about the storeroom being open, then has a funny moment about ‘eggs are period food’ in a discussion with Kara and Jonty as Liam and Carole are in the diary room discussing vege frankfurters and the shopping.

  • BB calls one housemate to the diary room for a mini task, past some podiums in the lounge (one in front of the Target on the floor mind you, which like the hidden garden Washing machine mentioned by the Insider earlier in the series, still hasn’t been used for anything in particular haha). It’s Ziggy, who has to guess the self rankings of the others to win extras for a party later (which will be playing Stefan Dennis from neighbours 80’s song ‘Don;t It Make Ya Feel Good’). Kara Louise in particular gets a pretty rough shove around ending up as both the ‘Worst’ and ‘Nastiest’ housemate. It gets to her a little bit after as on top of already being nominated every week and knowing she’s still only a late entry hm, it’d be nice not to have it rubbed in/get a break kinda thing as Ziggy tries to smooth it over.
  • The party takes place. later Liam Brian and the others start making deals for trades of food and stuff for extra songs and booze (Rihanna’s Umbrella gets played again. and they have a bit of a group dance to it). Although Carole gets pretty peeved off that a jar of Piccalilli gets included (that herself and Tracey had waited a couple weeks to get) so flippantly by Tracey. They stop after that.
  • The Eviction takes place, It’s Tracey with a big margin, Followed by a close one ‘Fractions of a pc) between Kara and Jonty. Kara leaves alongside Tracey. The Interview is a bit Tracey heavy (including some TMI about being on her Period) and they are a bit tight for time but get Kara Louise’s done ok too. Theres going to be a bit of a fake out making them think theres a mid week eviction in the final week apparently.

Onto the next few episodes! (I've skimmed a bit ahead bits of BBLB and Big Mouth to get the rest of Finale order out of the way (I knew the winner/RU) etc, Circling back through rest of Finale week now, then I'll be onto Last recaps and then Celeb Hijack) ;)

BBUK8 Finished! first, some Finale Week recap notes:
  • On The Couch: Judy James analysed the Finalists body language when asked about winning/who they think will win. Tomas went through what qualities have most defined each finalists time in the house and helped lead them to the final (Machiavellian=Ziggy, Social Int=Liam, Emo Int= Twins, Leadership=Carole, Modesty=Brian, Agreeableness=Jonty); The last experiment was having them recant their journeys in the house so far, followed by a discussion of the biggest psych moments of the season.

  • Events in the house: There was a mini task to dress up as duos for Duet performances on a stage in the backyard. Brian and The Twins did Peter Andre & Jordan ‘A Whole New World’, Ziggy and Liam were Kylie & Jason - ‘Especially For You’ and Jonty & Carole did ‘Islands in the Stream’ by Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton.
  • ‘Big Brothers Big Quiz’ takes place with Carole, Brian and The Twins on Team 1 Jonty, Liam, Ziggy on the other (Team 2). Complete with some kinda backhanded video questions from previous housemates such as Amy talking about Carole, and exposing scenes like Ziggy’s ‘It’s Not You It’s Me’ and Liam’s ‘Wings iof Steel’ to the others, It also had some funny moments like Davina and Dermot doing impressions of Carole and Brian respectively.
  • In the vestibule, Chanelle was brought in momentarily to be guessed by a blindfolded Ziggy and Carole, they have a moment to reunite before she has to go out again. This was recreated on BBLB with Chanelle and Gerry on either team (led by Girls Aloud’s Cheryl and Kimberly) bringing in Shabnam to guess.
  • Ziggy’s team wins and they agree to let him win the prize, which is a BB 2007 photo album. Liam and Brian have a bit of a tense moment that rattles the twins for a moment, but its all cleared up, they just had a bit of a misunderstanding about Liam reassuring Jonty about the boos and saying he dosent care what anyone else says, being picked up on and questioned by Brian what he meant by that.
  • The housemates have to design a task in pairs, Liam and Brian win that. Later for discussing nominations (even though it dosent matter anymore) BB plays a prank on them thinking there’ll be a midweek eviction by getting The twins, Jonty and Brian to nominate out of Ziggy, Liam and Carole, choosing Carole and Ziggy, before revealing it’s a fake.

  • The annual ‘BB Film’ where the housemates play each other and some of the big moments takes place. Later they all watch it in the lounge. BBLB also gets in on this with Dermot and Sarah Jane Dunn doing some charades for 2 of the Audience members from each half to guess. On the BBLB before the Finale, Dermot dresses up as Davina to visit her and also do the Celebrity guest F&F support pleas.
  • There was a funny scene I thought where Jonty is looking for his Isle Of Man flag T-Shirt, and Brian questions if Isle of Man is a country cause it has its own flag… next scene is Ziggy studying the globe ball and telling the twins about some things on it - ala what Gerry chucked the hissy fit with Ziggy over a few weeks back! LOL
  • BB takes the afternoon off, leaving them with some actual money (a new 20 pound note?) for ordering food and stuff, and they choose Jonty to take over for BB for the afternoon as ‘Big Jonty’. He comes to the vestibule and calls Ziggy in to have a chat. He also manages to get a few songs played for them, Including Barbie Girl for the twins.
  • They have a last dinner and some toasts, Liam Brian and the others get a bit emotional that its coming to a close and they’ll be leaving soon.

  • The Finale stage is back to the other side like BB5, the ex housemates are seated on the house side though. Jonty (6th) and Carole (5th) come out together, followed by Ziggy. Davina (in red dress) announces Liam as Third then theres a break before he comes out. The twins then are second and Brian wins. His interview is pretty funny.
  • Ian Wright hosted the final week of Big Mouth, and also the after the Finale episode with the ex hms, the finalists and Brian. He did pretty well with zipping around with the mic to the audience. Tracey and Kara Louise in their episode went a bit in on Ziggy. Nikki (BB7) and Vanessa Feltz etc were a couple of the other guests.
  • BBLB Sunday reunion went back to a daytime slot, They gave out a few awards and also revealed the location of the hidden washing machine in the corner of the garden. Carole reckons she did see the wall move when Brian knocked it but didn’t open it out. Maybe it might get used in Celeb Hijack haha.

  • The What the housemates did next episode was majority before the finale, Shabnam recorded a cover of ‘Shout!’, Chanelle went to LA to try and meet Victoria Beckham, getting mistaken for her by some fans and paparazzi, She was also a bit of a strop on a beach photoshoot. Meanwhile Charley is a guest on Friday Night Project, forgetting her co guests name (Nigel someone) and questioning the make up artists work on her. She also got booked to speak at a panel event about racism. Theres still a bit of friction between her and Chanelle, Chanelle didn’t come on the 8 out of 10 cats special, and they had some words during the pre finale get together while cameras were rolling but appeared to be civil on Big Mouth.
  • Seany returned home with some positive family reactions to his coming out, reuniting with Gerry for a Pride event, Billi appeared to be continuing doing the wrestling thing, Gerry met David Walliams on a morning show then had to scoot off to be on BBLB. After finale, The agents were all clamouring for the finalists, Ziggy apparently got snapped up by Darren Lyons, and Brian and the Twins went off to do some photo shoots. BBLB also showed Brian the video messages from some of the female BBLB guests over the season and that Hollyoaks is open to having him on as an extra.

Next: some overall season thoughts then housemates last blurbs.

BBUK8 Overall Season thoughts:
  • Overall I didn’t mind this season, I was surprised to see that the halfway house and post charley weeks werent generally thought highly of in some comments, but I thought they stood up well. Halfway house was a little messy and could’ve been done a little earlier in the season perhaps to give them a bit more of a foothold to integrate a little more(maybe week 5-7?), although audiences warmed to Jonty in particular it seemed and he did well for 5 weeks there. I thought Carole and Gerry also being the source of a lot of the conflict in those final few weeks also carried it a bit after Chanelle also left (although the Chiggy hot and cold whilst initially interesting I thought also with the On The Couch analysis, was starting to wane on me a bit, I was ready for one of them to start nominating each other or to be up and gone from week 9 anyway).
  • On Chanelle, there was a bit of alt lines the season could’ve taken here too, with quite a few walks, the ejection of Emily, and some factions crumbling early on. What If It wasn’t Ziggy the first guy in (I Kept expecting Brian, but it turned out he was the last male to arrive in that initial 7). What If Carole or Jonathan had gone instead of Seany? Billi mightn’t have then laid his game plan to waste and Charley or Ziggy might have been up before him. What If the Halfway House twist was straightforward and David and Shanessa had stayed in? etc etc.

  • That being said they tried a few different things this season. They got good mileage out of Charley by also being part of the fake eviction, The Halfway house twist was very topsy turvy compared with last seasons twist, dangling some big names in the mix before flipping it. Guru task week was kindof like a reverse Big Brotherhood mixed with the optional nominations then face to face eviction from BB6.
  • Even the twins were playing as separate from the start and only given the option to combine from Day 70, whereas I presumed they were playing as one up until Gerry and Seany selected them to nominate in Week 2. The opening twist of all female then gradually adding guys worked well I thought and didn’t drag on too long, made way for some interesting dynamics.
  • As far as the house features go, I kept waiting for the Target on the floor to be utilised for something, but it was a bit of a red herring. haha. Maybe in Celeb Hijack. They also never found the secret washing machine in the garden until Dermot revealed it on the BBLB reunion. The multipurpose rooms behind the Diary room and Storeroom were well done, before then becoming opened up further for the Halfway house. The Vestibule was also fun. Also coo was how they gradually opened up a fresh area every few weeks like the Caravan, and then the Poolside bar area.

  • I think in terms of phases of the season, you could split it a few ways, maybe the first two weeks until Brian arrives, then Seany’s eviction, Billi & Laura vs Chiggy until Laura leaves, Then Fake week up to Charley’s 2nd eviction. Then Chanelle walks/Halfway House to Gerry’s Eviction, and then the final 2 weeks. Something like that.
  • On The Couch I found pretty interesting and entertaining too, and Davina really got into it. Although it was only on this season, I did read that some psych segments may return as parts of Evictions or other side shows later on perhaps?
  • Dermot’s last mainline BB on BBLB was fun, cool set design with the incorporation of a slightly larger audience and regular audience Vs Guest interactions the introduction of more use of ‘Eyepiece’ and Webcam callers was fun too (in all its 2007 era picture feed quality jankiness, LOL). I also thought the way they had rotating week hosts of Big Mouth worked well too, each had some different side skits and pieces, and some different styles and stuff.

    Next: housemates last blurbs.

BBUK8 Housemates Part 1:
  • Emily: The 3am ejection was a bit harsh but yeah, She learnt a very big lesson and came out on the rough side of the aftermath of the Race Row. Her brief stint in the house apart from the N-bomb probably remembered for clashing with Chanelle over a hair straightener and tricking Ziggy into admitting his nominations. Also for looking like Peaches Geldof and thinking Indie music was a whole new genre. The unknown answer may be what were the voting percentages between her and Shabnam like up to that point? Could she have survived and went on further yet. She has apparently made some public appearances and stuff later on.
  • Lesley: She was ok but I think she just felt a bit out of her depth by the time she walked (and/or just bored and it wasn’t up to her expectations as she said). She went on about expecting the others to be showing talents like its Britain’s got Talent or something but instead walked into a madhouse. After apparently she wrote some columns and stuff and continued with the Womens association.
  • Shabnam: She was pretty kooky, but also maybe one of the most fame hungry housemates this series. Apparently nowadays she dabbles in acting and drama. She could’ve maybe gone further but also wasn’t too fussed about staying and mightve flippantly walked at some point. Her wacky antics like her dance coming out of the house were funny.
  • Seany: He brought a bit of wackiness to the house with all of his pranks (and further setting off Charley with some of them) His eviction was probably the first big surprise result of the Season, as it also apparently had a flow on effect to Billi the following week, and Gerry also lost a close ally and fellow entrance mate to the house. Apparently his experience helped him reconnect with his dad and one of the where are they now articles mentioned he went on to have a kid, living in Moscow as a sex therapist? hmm.
  • Billi: Brought a bit of drama after just going head to head with Charley not caring as much after Seany left for some reason. If He had stayed and survived that eviction, perhaps he could have got Ziggy up earlier and shaken things up, however thats not the way it played out. He as seen in the winners week special and on BBLB went on to try out getting into the theatrical Wrestling world.
  • Jonathan: He kindof subverted my first impressions I was expecting him at first to have a bit of a up himself side concerning the being a millionaire in assets thing but he was actually turned out to come across pretty well. He wanted to walk simply because he thought he’d achieved what he came for just to be on the show, but then chose to leave as per that bereavement. I think had he stayed perhaps he’d have continued to be an interesting offsider to Carole and perhaps Jonty if he was still there when they came in. Apparently he went on and continued to be successful forming a mens grooming business.
  • Laura: She started out fun and at one point was one of the early betting favourites to win. She also took a bit of an antagonist role towards Ziggy at some points, and it could’ve been interesting to see if that continued once Chanelle was out of the picture if she got past that eviction. She went blonde in the Finale, and ‘Wangers’ as she was known apparently later had a breast reduction but not much more is known and she appeared to go back to the quiet scene out of the spotlight.

BBUK8 Housemates Part 2:
  • Nicky: I didn’t mind her, she got a bit of side eye for her seeming resting bitch face kinda demeanour a lot of the time and the ‘man hater’ tag, but She did have some fun moments also, between some of her arguments with Carole and Charley. In the early weeks she overlapped sometimes with Carole as part of the control of the kitchen or the food drama. After the show she did a lot of Charity work and apparently wasnt dealing with the level of public recognition afterwards well but she did end up getting married and that helped her through it, and has continued working in charity organisations.
  • Charley: The South East London It Girl really dominated the first half of the season, also a mean feat managing to avoid nominations and also become part of the fake week fake eviction twist. ‘I’m not being funny like’ became a bit of an iconic catch phrase of hers, I don’t think she had much awareness of her ability to just talk and talk and se struggled to come across articulate at times, but also OTOH there were still some moments where she seemed to be somewhat self aware. After the show apparently she hit the party scene and tried her hand at a few things before settling into being an Instagram Influencer.
  • Chanelle: She was entertaining with some of her outbursts but sometimes also concerning to watch when she was really upset at times too. I think she was just immature in dealing with some things, apart from Ziggy and some thinking he was totally to blame for leading her on on or being wishy washy with her when I think they both had some issues and maybe things might’ve been different if Ziggy hadn’t come in first or they distanced themselves and committed to the separation the first time whilst they were in the house.

Still she had a lot of insecurity about playing that bloody violin for the TV Task and nearly walked over that, so. Anyways after the show she released a single, broke up with Ziggy (apparently later dating Jack Tweed for a short while and later still reuniting with Ziggy for an appearance on a talk show around 2018), and also went to the opposite direction with her weight for a bit before getting gastric sleeve surgery and recently looking more like she did back at the time. She also has two sons and runs her own travel business and studying to become a nurse according to The Sun article I found. I also managed to see a clip or two of her on Loose Women, another more recent one something about her and her new fiancé iirc? and a photoshoot one.
  • Shanessa: was a bit off the cuff of the halfway housemates, not being aware of how one becomes jewish when asking Jonty, and giving detailed accounts of her work history and lapdances etc in the house. She may have been a bit more in your face than Kara Louise had she stayed perhaps. She appears to have gone back out of the spotlight to her job in Care.
  • David: I thought was a shoe in to stay out of the halfway housemates and was a bit bummed he went out in the double (as I said wonder if it was a vote to save would it have perhaps been any different?). He might’ve continued to be a fun offsider to Gerry a while longer, or maybe some drama if some of the others continued to think he was a game player. Anyways it appears after the show allegedly he later recovered from a drug problem.
  • Amy: got a bit of the tough side of things and kinda got a bit scapegoated I thought for the Halfway house twist (it could’ve just as easily been Shanessa in that position), and also daring to get into a no strings fling with Liam. Her profession of glamour model didn’t really help things with some of the perception of outside. She might’ve done better with some more time or an earlier and less messy entry to the house. Apparently she continued modelling and worked as a lash technician.

BBUK8 Housemates Part 3:

  • Gerry: He was a pretty entertaining character, (along with Freddie) at times though he did come across a little bit self righteous, but this also led to some funny moments such as chucking a sook over them not making him choreographer for the Kylie performance then trying to upstage Charley. LOL. he also got a bit self conscious about how he was being perceived by his family, the public, the country and if he came off as boring. Still he survived one eviction, then kindof had a hard week in wk11 with Clashing with Carole and then also wanting to be the one voted out over her. He was an entertaining guest on BBLB, and apparently after the show he did actually write that Treat em mean keep em keen book! he’s also done some screenwriting and works as a counsellor/agony uncle/sexpert/psychologist.
  • Tracey: Provided alot of the catchphrases of the season, from AVE IT, to Gravy, Sketchy, Phat, Deal with it, and Cheesy Quavers. She also became an early favourite and survived many evictions, although the tide seemed to have shifted by Week 12 as some cracks in her demeanour appeared to show, although she had sporadic arguments during the earlier weeks, she had a tough week and ended up first evictee in the double over Kara Louise. Some of the On The Couch discussions seemed to think maybe she had some comedy aspirations but apparently it seems she went back out of the spotlight in the time after the show saying at the time its wasn’t something she was that interested in. and went on for the experience.
  • Kara Louise: Seemed to me like the Jennie of the group of HWH’s at first - one I thought didn’t seem to jump out at me particularly compared to the others. That final week she was there though she did start coming out of her shell a little more annoying Ziggy and the whole armpit plucking thing, she also had some good chats with some of the others, like explaining eggs to Brian and stuff. After the show she also appeared to just go back into the regular and she became a teacher.
  • Jonty: Another one that came across wacky with the spanking and the stuffed toys (Munkety Tunkety et al) that made Gerry and Freddie or Chanelle and Betsy look bit more tame in comparison. On The Couch thought he might have been projecting a little also using them as shield to people not liking him for him or something along those lines, Davina commented in finale that he seemed to rely on them not as much towards the final weeks perhaps he was gaining a bit more confidence and self esteem kinda thing or something along those lines but yeah.

He had some pretty entertaining intellectual discussions quizzing the twins, and he had a good friendship with Carole. He seemed to be the one that the public warmed to quickly out of the HWH, and that might’ve increased had he entered earlier perhaps, although he did go 5 weeks in there. He appeared to return to his museum job after the show and also runs a walking tour company.

Next: the last few blurbs (tomorrow)

BBUK8 Housemates Part 4:

  • Carole: I thought she was pretty fun once she got going after the first couple weeks she seemed to settle into just the housekeeper role, but then she started to liven up and get involved in both fun and also some assertiveness ala her intro package. Although at times this made her come across somewhat possessive of the mother role and kitchen domain of the house which saw her face off against the likes of Nicky, Chanelle, Gerry and Ziggy, the latter she had an interesting dynamic with. Another big brother fan who had tried previously to audition, after the show it seemed she popped up in some political settings including standing as a candidate or something for George Galloway’s Respect party.
  • Ziggy: he had a lot thrown at him being the first guy in the house and going through that initial phase of the season, which gave some interesting dynamics. The showmance with Chanelle kinda went pear shaped very quickly and it was much discussed that as the most Machiavellian scoring there, whether he was playing Chanelle or just got in deep and wasn’t sure how to backpedal out without damaging his image or perception from the outside which I thought was interesting to see play out. He kinda found a bit of individuality again after Chanelle walked, but also managed to never have been up for the vote until finale, unsure if like Charley he could’ve been a first up and gone. As for his before the show it was interesting to check out Northern Line, and after it seems he did some photoshoots, worked as a doorman and also ran some restaurants.
  • Liam: he got a bit of the ‘nice guy’ edit throughout, especially after being gifted the 100K early on, although later in the season there were a few questionable bits such as how he and Amy got on that got some mixed perceptions on Both of their behalves by the public as to their motivations but I reckon they just had some light hearted fun and not a real ‘serious’ showmance. He was often a voice of reason kinda thing in some of the discussions and like a big brother/cousin to the twins mucking around with them. I thought I detected some hints of Scottish slang mixed in with the Geordie accent? Anyways maybe in another season or without the money already maybe he’s seem a likely humble winner type, but he still did well only being up for eviction by proxy in the guru week and coming third. After the show he used some of the money on his family (sadly his mother passed the year after the show), a house, and also went back into the tree business running his own company and also making documentaries apparently.

BBUK8 Housemates Part 5:

  • Sam & Amanda: at first I was surprised to learn that they were playing separately from the start, and were only combined and given that option later in the season (turned out to be a good move, coming second). I thought it would’ve been interesting to split them up, although they never received any nominations all season. If Ziggy had wanted to be really ruthless, he could’ve done it potentially in week 1 putting them up. still, they did seem to be more background characters for much of the season imo, although they did like Brian seem to collect a large enough following and favourites status by the end. They also started having some more individual moments here and there such as Amanda then also having a friends or more thing with Brian towards the end. They had a few catchphrases, and Barbie Girl being one of their signature songs turned into a top 30 cover single for them after the show. Talking about Brian perhaps playing dumb, the twins for a similar age and being at university and stuff like always doing the math part of the shopping lists in the diary room etc, they still came out with some pearlers like what ‘naive’ meant, or when the 90’s were. LOL. Anyway after the show they’ve both gone on to work in fashion, Amanda apparently at ASOS.
  • Brian: Look the Shakespeare thing, questionable but also maybe he knew of Romeo and Juliet but thought the modern movie was the source material or something? I dunno. Anyways he was endearing and I found myself really relating to his fanboy reaction to being on the show and his love of Tv pop culture in general, I was 19 that year and much the same and also a massive BB Fan, I getcha Brian haha. He had a lot of funny catchphrases in that Essex accent. He makes some more appearances later on, but also did get that cameo on Hollyoaks and a few other shows. He also apparently now works in TV as the director of ‘Yoghurt productions’ - as in ‘Yoghurt Top’? Haha.
Well that’ll do for BB8. I’ve started Celeb Hijack - I’ll post a little update on that soon. :)

BBUK: Celebrity Hijack (Jan 2008) Started!
Launch and First Big Mouth/BBLB episodes notes:
  • Ok so I get the format now, Interesting it will be Celebrities each taking turns at being BB, kinda similar to what we saw in one of those mini tasks in the final week of BB8, but in the actual booth next to the control room. Also as to the Actual housemates for this, it kinda feels a bit like Teen BB in a way, only aged up a bit (18-21), and they've obviously been sought out for each being particularly accomplished and talented young adults. And like Teen BB, its hosted by Dermot, only he's doing more of the Davina role as this time its live as it airs.
  • Matt Lucas is the fist Celebrity Hi-Jacker, and his first little task is having the First housemate John wear an earpiece covered by a scottish hat (he's in youth politics) and repeat directions and what to say. Prize is pretty high stakes - a pass to the final and a party or being auto nominated every eviction. He struggles with some of it but Ultimately has a go and Matt rewards him and the others with a party.
  • Another duo there - Victor and Emilia are a Brother/Sister circus act, but playing separately. Matt had John make comparison of Racing driver Jeremy to Daniel Radcliffe - I was actually thinking more Tom Felton perhaps (Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter) haha.
  • Entrepreneur Liam has the kinda emo hair style going, a bit Liam Payne/Justin Bieber even perhaps before they were even a thing shortly after haha. Jade is a beauty pageant model who is also in Mensa.
  • Amy is into art and cleaning random objects and areas in squares as an art piece - Interesting. Latoya is a dancer that has been in Madonna and Craig David music videos. Nathan is an R&B singer, from what it sounds like its very in that 2007 era Ne-yo kinda pocket IMO.
  • James Corden and Mathew Horne are going to host Big Mouth for the duration - their intro was a Thriller flashmob VT; BBLB's set hasnt really changed significantly - Caitlin Moran and Chantelle Houghton (CBB4) were on as the first guests.
  • The Logo is similar but theres a bit of a purple 'splat' aesthetic to it as well and some other things, and tv static and stuff in the opening titles and transition slides.
  • The house has a bit of a made over bedroom and the front wall has been moved back to the stairs - it looks like they removed the vestibule area. There wasnt a full house tour so I'll have to see what else has changed in the first daily show.

    Onto the next few episodes!

back, ready for an update now I've started week 2 of Celeb Hijack (had a bit of a busy couple of weeks)
Still think Emily's ejection was overly harsh.
Just backing up to this for a moment, I also read some bits that came out a few days after the finale about News Of The World claiming a similar incident was covered up by C4 involving Ziggy quoting the n word from from 50 Cent lyrics. Because it was allegedly on the penultimate night and was from lyrics to refer to thanking a friend, and Brian wasnt offended, they decided to just completely edit it out apparently if there was any truth to it, rather than risk another furore. Interesting.

Theres been a few BB8 appearances on BBLB and Big Mouth so far on Celeb Hijack. Even Russell Brand has come back.

Anyways another bit I saw was that apparently Rylan Clark was in line to be on BB8 but got leaked beforehand. Although he does appear in a later C5 CBB (after his stint on X Factor UK I presume) and thats how he came to be involved with BOTS.

Also I'm not quite up to there just yet, but I'm also wondering about the placement of CBB8, which If I have the upcoming timeline correct, is the first Channel 5 CBB but does it come before or after BB12? which would either make it the debut Channel 5 house possibly re-using Ultimate BB's house layout to a degree, or I think might be more likely does it follow BB12 in the Summer, then CBB9 picks up the following January (2012)?

Cause after that I think they start doing Winter/Summer CBB twice per year, which will be interesting for the house design carryover/spruce up as well.

So is it
2010: CBB7 (Winter) -> BB11 -> UBB (Summer)
then
2011: CBB8 (W) -> BB12 -> (gap (S))
2012: CBB9 (W) -> BB13 -> CBB10 (S)
or
2011: (gap (W)) -> BB12 -> CBB8 (S)
2012: CBB9 (W) -> BB13 -> CBB10 (S)

Next up my update to Day 9 on Celeb Hijack.

C5 launched with the celebrity series in the summer of 2011 then the main series aired in the autumn followed by another Celebrity BB in January 2012. I think from 2012 the main summer series then generally took place before the summer Celeb BB.

BBUK: Celebrity Hijack Week 1 (up to Day 10 Show covering the Day 9 Eviction) Update :

  • Ok so I think the way I might do some update here is cover each celeb hijacker in brief then some Big Mouth/BBLB and general house action points;
  • Matt Lucas: He of course had the Launch night with John’s secret task. The following day he had 3 of the housemates who had ‘bonded’ the most come to the diary room. It was Anthony, Jeremy and Nathan, who had to bake Matt Lucas a cake, but arms interlocked either side of Jeremy being the left and right hand.. He also woke them up in character with the Proclaimer’s 500 Miles. Last task before he left was a show of some of their talents and a self rank of most/least talented. John is ranked least and Calista most).
  • Ian Wright: Set them some sensory deprivation tasks such as duos guessing their partner doing charades on a sound theyve been played in the diary room, then a penalty shootout in teams wearing beer goggles. La Toya’s team wins and they get some music whilst the losing team has to initially sit wearing the goggles.
  • Alan Cumming: set them a method acting task where they got in character all day then tried to include different aspects in a play. Jay was ‘Fabman’ and his sidekick Nathan was ‘Dobbyn’ fighting crimes against fashion. Jeremy got this southern shy boy Norman, giving off a bit of a forrest gump accent vibe and playing off Emilia who was a kinda hollywood bombshell character. Jade was a cavewoman climbing on the yellow jungle gym outside. They aren’t that organised at the play and fail the task but get champagne.
  • Kelly Osbourne: She took care of nominations and also had a bit of a heart to heart with Victor who was coming across a little overbearing towards his sister. John also tells her how much he loves Sharon. Later She throws them a metal party where they mosh for her and win a luxury menu.
  • Russell Brand: his hijack was pretty out there, he picks on Jeremy a bit getting him to wear socks on his hands then go to the bathroom whilst the others do a self ranking on spirituality, then insert himself somewhere in it. Later, He butters up Amy in the diary room by giving her a cake and getting Jeremy to bring her coffee and flowers in the diary room. Finally, he also orchestrates a fake argument with a fake cameraman ‘Paul’ behind the door who then bursts in and refuses to be removed (later by Russell coming in with security while the housemates are corralled in the bedroom). Jade cottons on that its a fake quickly but then some of them start to vote on whether John is in on it which upsets him a bit and talks it through with Russell after.
  • John McCririck: announces himself by playing the house ‘Return of the Mack’. Teaches them the ‘tic tac’ racing odds sign language for a quiz later, and also talks with Jay in the diary room telling him Ties are useless and are out. He sets Jade and Victor a secret task by showing Jade footage of Victor bitching about her ala the task Caprice did about John back in CBB3. He shows Victor the same footage and after feeling a little bad about it, sets him a task to improve relating with Jade subtly to see how she percieves him later on. They end up passing both tasks and Jade and Victor get a dinner.
  • Janet Street Porter: Set the housemates some TV related tasks as if they’re producing a tv show (set inside a giant TV set that I think may be along the wall of the room behind the storeoom. theres a Debate show about if Men are the stronger sex (Victor goes back to being a little obnoxious again), Jay and John commentate on footage of the house, and Jade/Jeremy interview Janet. She gets a bit huffy with them letting her take over the interview so they fail that section but pass overall.
  • Peaches Geldof & Fifi Brown: refer to themselves as Trash pussy or something and get Nathan to impromptu sing with a beatbox and thats what he comes back to lol. They also kick Jay out of the diary room and choose someone else to read the task after he admits he was kinda talking Peaches down when they were discussing her before. They set the housemates a battle of the Bands task Nathan (Emo) versus Calista (New Rave). Nathan’s team really had the catchier song (and Liam was funny as one of the lead singers too). They won and got some personal Mp3 players for a bit. Peaches and Fifi called in Calista and Jade to the diary room and then pretended to be them dressed in animal masks coming into the house dancing.

  • BBLB: They had Brian BB8 on along with Judy James and Wendy Richards, that was a fun episode, also two of the guys from Skins, Katie Hopkins about Liam (whom she wasn’t that flash on). She was part of a mini game guessing their guilty crushes, Funny Anthony’s was Fern (who will later pop up on CBB23) as well as John’s being Sharon Osbourne of course (also on CBB23).
  • Dermot also does a bit of a teleport skit to the Hijacker booth, and dressed up as Kelly, Russell and John McC for the F&F pleas segment. Also on was George Lamb, whom will be taking over BBLB when BB9 starts (Dermot perhaps hinting to it at the end of the segment).

  • James Corden and Matt Horne continue on Big Mouth, they had a skit trying out some of the housemates (particularly Victor and Jeremy often doing this in weird voices to Amy) cheesy pick up lines at a pub, they also did one intro reciting the long intro monologue to All Saint’s 1998 hit ‘Never Ever’ (at first I thought hmm is that Shaznay on as a guest there behind them but no it was Josie D’Arby LOL).
  • They have a bit of a field day with running gags about Liam’s sudden revelations about being Bi and having a lot of sex and once ‘doing it with a cushion’. Other guests this week included Vanessa Feltz, the girls from Booty Luv, Jim Jefferies, and a funny one was Dani Filth singer of Cradle of Filth most of the time they threw to him it was accompanied by a quick snippet of his deep singing. Shabnam (BB8) was also a phone in.
  • They also used James & Matt’s voiceover as the Eviction get out countdown this week which the housemates weren’t too impressed with.

  • So other house action a main through-line this week was around Victor coming across a bit chauvinistic towards his sister, asking her to cook for him or getting annoyed with her mentioning Gordon Ramsay and talking nonsense or something.
  • It’s brought up by John McCririck that their mum has been on Big Mouth (and BBLB) saying thats not my son (meaning Victor mightn’t be really being the same as he is on the outside and just having a bit of a hard time of it etc) but they kindof at first take it to mean that he’s being fake or being down on him or something like that, or that its just another trick (like the cameraman) to stir them up. Its also discussed whether he’s really being harsh on his sister or it might be a bit of a combo of just sibling banter thats misunderstood or they travelling life they lead means that she cooks for him all the time or whatever. Although theres several scenes where he is expressing some interesting views about dating etc and what European women are like if he offers to do things for himself and whatnot IYKWIM.
  • Initially I also thought maybe he might be doing a bit of a Dirk Benedict and he’s had enough already and playing it up a bit to try and purposely get himself nominated but then he Confides in Kelly Osbourne how he feels and maybe had a bit of stuff going on and getting a bit of cabin fever vs generally being a bit immature at times but also leading a career with some worldly experience compared to some others.
  • Victor and Emelia also got a podium outside and do a few practice runs of their rollerskates and spinning routine which is pretty hectic and eye opening.
  • Victor got the most nominations, and Jade and Jeremy were up too. It was a bit of a surprise that Jade ended up going (one of the first nights she was reluctant to ask the rest of them to vacate the bedroom because she wanted to go to bed early), but ended up annoying a few by being chirpy and singing the arms in the morning, and perhaps to the outside trying to match Emelia’s stretching. Victor might’ve been interesting to remove to see how Emelia gets on and also if anything further happens with her and Jeremy who seem to be close. Jeremy's also starting to be seen as a bit of a duo with Victor in some of the edit, so maybe it'd give him some room to come out a bit more as well.

  • Theres a bit of a questions from the audience segment in the eviction interview this time, Dermot also asked Jade whether she wanted to give the housemates a nice or nasty gift. She chose nice and the ‘purple ninja’ in the Diary room bursts in and throws around some rose petals and then exits.
  • At first I thought Victor was looking at LaToya a bit but now suddenly Nathan is babbling to her about maybe having a thing for her and wary about starting a showmance or just being chill (he's talked a few times about his motivations for doing the show for a bit more promo for his career). Watch this space. Also things look pretty intense with the next Hijack - looks like Amy gets kidnapped, taken outside and set up in some interrogation room? Ooh.
  • As for the house, some more changes The pool is now a hot tub corner with some padded side area, and theres a gym behind the wall set up covering the BB8 bathtub area, that leads off the other door in the bedroom.

    Onto the next few episodes!
