2014 Today I ......

thanks kxk.

mum is doing alright, they are in a lovely little unit 2 suburbs over from me now which has been super. She is into her 6th month of chemo and then next week starts 6 weeks of radiation. It is a "diffuse" type of cancer so a lot of the scans actually don't show anything as there is not one tumor to look for its really hard for them to tell how far its spread.

Based on previous cases we should expect her health to decline a lot in the next few months, or the treatment may be working and she might not get worse for a while yet (basically the next stage will just be that she starts going into liver failure) so hopefully that doesn't happen for a while.

Did I tell you guys about my cat too? he went into heart failure a few weeks ago, but he seems to be doing well now. hes on medicine twice a day and is back to his normal self but with his condition he also is not going to live very long as he can slip back into heart failure or get a blood clot at any time :/

so as you should do with life anyway you just love people or pets while they are here as tomorrow is never promised :)

I am nearly finished my graduate certificate in project management :) i just have an exam left to go. then i take a break til august and carry on with my masters. I was doing 3 units this semester and its too much with full time work and family drama, last week i had what they think was a panic attack but i also had a virus and my chest froze up I was having trouble breathing! i had to get a whole bunch of blood tests then i just slept basically saturday til monday. I feel much better now but im never taking on that many commitments again.

hmm yea woops im basically like writing a diary, anyway im off to the shops to do my groceries with my fiance :D

Awesome, EB.

...

I gotta ring story to tell too ... but will save it for another day.

It's Another Day now, so I can tell my "ring story".

Last Saturday (now 8 days ago) I did something I virtually never do and took my wedding ring off in order to clean my hands after painting the walk in robe for LSCP. At the time I made a point of louding clicking the ring down onto the surface near the sink/tap so I would remember that I had taken it off.

On Monday night, LSCP, MIL, FIL, all went out for dinner @ the Boatshed in South Perth. Very nice night out indeed and, just like everyone else over the previous week, MIL & FIL seemed to reckon my new "completely shave head" look was pretty qool / suited me.

Anyhoo, on Tueday @ work I was chatting with a colleague about why I wear a certain moonstone pewter ring on my little finger on my right hand (tis to distract me from the regular pins and needles I get in my thumb and forefinger on my left hand ... and the reason for that is coz of my thyroid meds ... when it is too high, it basically gives you carpel-tunnel which gives you pins and needles ... the dose I actually need is somewhere between 75 and 100mg so bascially I have to alternate doses every day and when I get it wrong on the too high, I get the pins and needles ... and now you know. :))

So there I was, talking with my hands as per usual, and I looked at my left hand as I was telling to story.

There was something wrong with it that I couldn't quite put my finger on.

My colleague could tell I was distracted by something so she helpfully said "oh, where is your wedding ring ?"

DOH !

How to have your day ruined and get a sick feeling in your stomach all at the same time.

For a moment I thought I'd taken it off in my sleep (I've done that with the moonstone pewter pinkie ring before) then, with even a greater sinking feeling, I remembered I'd taken it off three days earlier and in York.

MEH !

Never mind the fact that neither LSCP, MIL, FIL, nor myself had not noticed my naked left hand at dinner the night before, I couldn't actually remember @ which sink it was that I'd taken the darn thing off anyway !

I didn't want to write about this before because I suspected I'd actually taken it off at the outside/bar sink, and put in such an easy to see spot (I.E. On The Bar) that it would be easy pickings for any passing magpie.

Yeah, I thought it was gunna be a gonner !

Anyway, I did confess my error/sin to LSCP virtually straight away (she texted back something about "have you been spinning your wedding ring again ?" which is a reference to an "Everyone loves Raymond" episode) and offered to drive up to York that evening and get it.

To my surprise she said to not worry about it and that we would get it at the end of the week.

Anyhoo++ as you can see from the following pic taken @ our "Casino night" Saturday night just gone, not only was it where I had left it and now back where it should be, but also I'm leaving the pinkie ring off for now ... it obviously distracted me from more than just pins and needles !. lol.

Hmmmm, looks like my head needs shaving again ...

"Today I ..." more or less finished mucking around with that old platted leather belt that I was busy trying to turn into who knows what the other week.

numba1son's 22nd is about to happen and so it is time again for me to add to his armor collection.

For his 21st last year, some of you might remember that we got him a Salade/Sallett (helmet) and a shield.

This year we got him a gorget/bevor combo to go with his helmet.

It was kinda plain so I figured I might as well attach a whole bunch of leather to it, complete with a 1992 dated German coin and the odd celtic/roman button thingos.

Easier to show than describe so here tis. The "WTF" moment is re: the strange face looking reflection ... that ISN"T either lscp or I ... and there wasn't anyone else around.

Prolly went overboard on it (but tis only basically a decoration/base for the helm, so not likely to be worn anywhere ... and he might be pleased to have something made by dear old dad, yes ?)

1992.jpg bevgor1.jpg bevgor2.jpg bevgor3.jpg

Not shown in the pics is how the front bit is hinged so it can drop down and ya have a drink or bite to eat without having to take it off.

I guess a breast plate or shoulder armor will be the go next year ...

...hey Derspatz... going for the Vin Diesel look are we?... lol!... I couldn't resist this so here goes... (you can see that I miss the Photoshop Thread eh?... lol!)...

...that's a helluva story about the wedding ring... I've had a similar thing happen to me when I was at work once... I left my wedding ring on a sink and didn't realise that I had until about 2 hours later and my heart went up to my throat... what a crappy feeling... luckily someone handed it in to management thankfully...

...that leather doovilackie thingamajigga turned out alright in the end didn't it?... not bad for someone that had no design in his head at the beginning... I guess creativity is a wonderous thing isn't it?... well done Vin... um... I mean... Derspatz:biggrin:... cheers.

Wow, that is truly awesome Mr Sticky ... light source coming from offscreen illuminating everything as it ought, etc.

What is more, now that I've shown it to LSCP, I'm so getting laid tonight. :D :D lol

Horrible feeling isn't it. The boss of my boss was telling me he did something similar to your story ... left it at the sink at work and didn't realise until the middle of the night and was so worried that the after-hours cleaners had, uh "cleaned" it up.

Was still there in the morning where he left it though.

lol, yeah, I really had no idea what it could be used for but it seems to suit the gorget/bevor ... and I can now move on to a new project. :-)

Cheers for sharing/giving away to everyone for free your latest bit of creativity though ... and roll-on the new season.

... and Long Live the Photoshop thread !

Heh

We stayed up too late watching GOT S04E08 so the "laid" bit will have to wait.

However, it has proved most helpful in dealing with inane IT requests at work.

For example, somebody lodged a ticket saying there was a problem with their mouse.

I just sent back your awesome edit with a caption of "Not My Fight".

Somebody else wanted me to deal with their security levels, so I posted the pic back along with a caption of "No law ever written is as powerful as cold steel"

Somebody else whinged about how their computer monitor stopped working.

No worries for this tough guy ... I just sent back your artwork with a caption of "you're not afraid of the dark, are you ?"

:D

Ok, none of that really happened ... yet. :)

Why is it though, that near every pair of jocks or pants I have, even virtual ones, end up with a hole THERE ! :)

Hmmmm, cheers for the leather armour ideas though ... the shoulder style looks pretty qool.

"Today I ..." reckon the following comment from here succinctly summarizes a major reason why the so called "West" must not only be Judged but also shall probably fall sooner rather than later.

Monckton of Brenchley says:
May 31, 2014 at 1:58 pm
Mr Martin rightly points to the arithmetical consequences for the West’s population of its immoral policy of baby-butchering, a policy that traditional Muslims abhor with no less vigor than traditional Christians. In Russia, which he mentions, the Muslims are already half the population. In France, the same will soon be the case, if it is not the case already. Britain will indeed not be far behind. But the answer is not to blame the Muslims, who adhere to the ancient principle, enshrined for instance in the Hippocratic Oath, that killing innocent little children in the womb of their mothers is intrinsically and outrageously wrong. We should blame our lawmakers, who took the side of evil. The West will pay the price for their fatal decision in the most direct way possible – by the inexorable extinction of its own population, an extinction that is already well under way.

I suspect that by murdering our unborn in their millions we shall be weighed in the balance, be found wanting, and probably be allowed to suffer the same if not worse at the hands of the totalitarian who shall be permitted to take our lands and countries for a time..

Deem "rivers of blood" included ... or if you prefer something more contemporary, "If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

Yeah it could be a calcium deficiency, but I also hate milk so I would be the same as you. Apparently sardines are a good source of calcium, but they are just as :yuck::vomit::sick: in my opinion. Almonds and some leafy greens (yuck) actually can be a good source of calcium, as can oranges. It could also be and iron or protein deficiency, and most of those foods are good for those as well. Or in fact it could be anything, are you under any particular stress?

I have such thin brittle hair normally, I suspect I am deficient in every vitamin, nutrient and macronutrient.

I'm not under any stress. I have been eating pretty badly lately. Lots of Anzac biscuits after dinner and other sweet things. I guess after this weekend I am going to have to have a look at my diet. I planted some spinach about a month ago and it's really growing big now. Better pick some then.
I've always had thin hair, but lots of it. Washing my hair is a nightmare! It takes like half n hour to comb all the knots out.
Thanks for the advice. I might try some almond milk......[DOUBLEPOST=1401968765][/DOUBLEPOST]
I think the forum is trying to help you

Can't really help you other than that. Although I did have some hair loss when I was going through a pretty stressful situation?!?
HAHA I'm not seeing that ad, I've got one for the reject shop LOL.

thanks Daltrim :) hope you are well!

Ders, thats a funny story :) I take my ring off a lot to cook or have a shower etc. but its funny how something I have never worn before I suddenly feel so lost without it.

@Inigo Montoya it could also be an iron deficiency or really any number of things. What's your hair like i.e dry? Any other symptoms? New medications? Also is it roots and all?

My hair is thin, but lots of it. Not dry, actually it feels pretty good, I wash it every 5-7 days. No new medication or any other symptoms. I have been drinking a lot of coffee as of late. Some have the roots on them and others don't. I think I should go to the doctor.

I'm so jealous that you can leave your hair that long without washing it. My hair is super dry, but it still manages to get pretty greasy within 2 days. Is this a new phenomenon for you? Everyone sheds their hair a little bit I guess and hair growth would be cyclical. I remember I once took some zinc tablets for something unrelated and my hair and my nails were probably the healthiest they have ever been, and these plus skin are usually the first places a nutritional deficiency or malabsorption will show. I don't know really, I'm not doctor so feel free to ignore everything I say.

Years ago I was not able to go a few days with out washing my hair, but my hairdresser at the time told me to start "training" my hair. One week was it every 3 day then each week increase it by a day till you are able to go 5 days. In summer I wash my hair every 4 days because I sweat and it get greasy. I've always shed a little hair, but I've just noticed in the last week that there has been a lot more hair falling out. Like I said I'm going to look at my diet and hopefully that helps, If not I'll need to see a doctor.

Yeah if coffee is the only change recently that you can think of than it could well be contributing or causing your increase in hair loss as too much caffeine affects your bodies absorption of a host of vitamins needed for healthy hair such as calcium, iron and B vitamins. You could try limiting your coffee or switch to decaf to see if you have any improvement.

@jessy_girl your hair sounds like mine used to be. Mine would get so dry and hideous especially after I'd shampoo and condition then be all greasy a few days later, then my bestie told me how to condition properly - damp not wet hair and let it soak - and added a hydrator to my routine. So much better now!

I used to be a rep for pps and worked in the hair industry for a long time, so I know a thing or two. @Inigo Montoya, I think you should talk to your doctor because it isn't necessarily a hair issue. In saying that leave in hair conditioners are amazing for the hair and using any shampoo and conditioner with keratin will leave your hair softer and give the hair more strength.

Just a tip for those, who like me, suffer from hair that goes oily after a few days- I apply baby powder to my roots and rub in and then shake it all out. Works a treat for last minute outings
