2014 Ratings Thread

No the ratings were not known until this morning.

They promote the GO! episode - channel and time every Thursday during the show.

Thats what I miss then, by recording it and skipping the ads, but I knew it was on GO.

Overnight ratings figures for Sunday 21st Sept will most likely be wrong due to Nine starting BB 24 minutes late, no?

Just to add, Perth runtimes for Sunday 21st Sept

TheBlock - 1hr 37 minutes
60 Minutes - 1hr 14 minutes
BigBrother - 1hr 3 minutes -- start time 9:24pm

From my years reading TV Tonight isn't that pretty standard though? I don't get why the regulators don't do more about it - it's one thing running late due to live sport or news but it happens daily in Australia and it's not just a couple of minutes, it's nearly half an hour.

Here in the UK a show billed as starting at 21:00 has to start between 20:58 and 21:04, and apart from genuine over runs they don't just run late for the sake of it, apart from BBC1 on Christmas Day which always seems to run 7-8 minutes late. In the US they're even stricter and shows rarely run more than a minute or two late, and are scheduled as such if they are.

I really think the solution is simple - if a show scheduled to finish at 9pm is still on air after 9pm then the network cannot show any more ads until the next programme has started. It would soon but an end to the silly games.

Wow - that would make them fix it pretty damned quick!

It's kind of like the TV equivalent of being put on hold. For a show on the bubble like BB you're obviously still just about watching and willing to give it the benefit of the doubt - but put on hold for 25 minutes you're ready to tear it to shreads by the time it actually arrives.

With the consolidated ratings will they take into account the later start time or will they still just use 9-10pm? I suspect there'll be a decent jump with the # of people who recorded it if Oztam uses the proper time.

That's an average-at-best result, right?
Better than average given it's start time (how it was even allowed to be advertised at 9pm is incredible!). It won the slot and delivered another winning night for nine. That's all they will care about. In a nutshell - BB is doing better than anything else would at that time so everyone will be happy.

The consolidated numbers are not affected by start/finish times however the late start time probably means that the overnight numbers are overestimated.

Except Australia

They did no better than last week even with Tim going in the house, so I think they would have been hoping for a ratings increase last night. I mean if stunts like the one they pulled last night can't increase the ratings, then probably nothing will, unless they actually start producing the show properly.

This household does Nielsen ratings, have not watched BB since they left Tassie off the facebook banner and kept deleting my complaints from their page.

It seems as though Channel 9 is looking at big brother as something to fill up a few time slots. Im not sure if the second series in one year of the block was planned? Seems as though nine is happy that the block is getting them there ratings fix.

The problem is ppl may lose interest in Big Brother and it may not be sustainable to fund future series of the show.

Channel 10 needs ratings atm, be good if they bought it back and revamped it ' back to basics' formula

Stunts only work for so long as we all know

9 will flog the Block until people get sick of it and they will then move onto their new cash cow

Seriously I have watched only one episode of the latest series
AND
Holy crap, do those niff nuffs even do renovating?
Block will be dead soon enough
