It is what it is at the end of the day, I'll still watch if only for four weeks. But you would hope it is only because they were forced into it and did not take inspiration from BBUK's short run. It's funny because of all the shows on TEN that could still thrive with a significant decrease in length its actually Masterchef. It does not need to run for 3 and a half months. One month would probably do a lot better for its pacing and they could still get away with having 12-16 people for a 4-6 week run as well.
 
I'm very surprised MC is still going, I'm guessing it was the replacement for BB? Started in April 2009... I think it's time BB reclaimed its rightful place. But yeah, as long as they bring the theme back, some form of opening titles, and given the rest of the boxes have been ticked (live shows/streaming etc) then I'll be hooked

I found some shorter ones! Big Brother Hungary VIP 3 was 5 days, and Big Brother Germany has done a couple of 57-hour (the wiki counts them as 3 days, but they're closer to 2) spin-offs featuring well-known streamers. French-Canadian Big Brother has done some one-day, one-episode spin-offs, although I don't know at what point it stops even counting as "Big Brother". 😅

As for the shortest ever non-spinoff season... the wiki isn't very helpful, and it looks like World of Big Brother stopped updating in 2014 (RIP), but I think Big Brother UK currently holds the record with 41 days, last year.

It doesn't really count, but there's an honourable mention: Big Brother Arabia was cancelled after 11 days, due to controversy about men and women cohabiting. They had their first round of nominations, but didn't make it to the first eviction.

This is assuming that Endemol is going to be the producer for Big Brother. ITV also has a great team that know how to do 24-hour turn around shows, channel 10 could also be going with them instead (as they do with Imma Celeb etc)
 
Not ideal at all to be so short and I don't think in Ten's interest - even if they're nerve about committing for 2-3 months you'd think cost wise it just wouldn't be economical to do it for such a short period.

Personally it's a no brainer to push it back to 2026 and there is enough flex in the schedule. Survivor holds up against MAFS so I wouldn't be too scared to put Big Brother in that slot, push Survivor back to after Easter then Masterchef a bit later. Or of course just leave Big Brother until it's traditional slot after Easter, or even Q3 would work - Seven and Nine seem to be at their weakest in Q2 - Q3.

Not to praise Seven but they announced the return of Idol in Oct 2020 and didn't put it to air until Jan 2023, and though not a mega hit it is at least a returning format for them. Better to give the show the chance to be ready to air rather than rush it, even if it meant delaying it nearly a year. The BBUK revival took 14 months from announcement to launch too having been pushed back around six months.


If it's as short as 4 weeks (or even 5 or 6) I think a half weekly cycle is a must with evictions probably Sun/Wed and nominations on Mon/Thu. At four weeks assuming a Sunday launch you'd have the first eviction the following Sunday, then two evictions a week for the next three weeks with the final then in it's traditional Monday slot, giving them 7 live evictions and a final.
 
I think they may see 4 weeks as a test run but even that is too short Not enough time to get people hooked or gain momentum and all the hype and build up may be fizzled out. Hopefully they squeeze in 6 weeks at the least or just push it back to next year sometime.
 
I am wondering what the minimum timeframe would be for watchers to determine which players are worth watching and following, rather than the initial early days where players are 'performing' and showing a false image of exactly who they are. It takes at least a week before they lose that 'the camera's on me, I better do something ' behavior. Four weeks is not enough time to allow it to become interesting

Considering the background that Endemol used to update the page is the new channel 10 graphic, I feel signs are pointing towards them again. There's also some notes in the code when I inspect the page that makes it seem like they're working on it.
 
I am genuinely curious as to who the EP will be for this one, I wonder if they'll have the majority of the original crew returning. Would we get an 01-03 style BB, or 04-07?

The only issue I see with that is that IAC UK and BBAU will be filming at the same time, assuming UK air dates are similar as previous years (November). Maybe it's not an issue, but resource and crew wise might be a struggle especially being a constant 24 hour machine.

Well, the voice in the teaser video was Peter Abbot (BB01-BB03 EP), wasn't it?

It feels unlikely that they'd get a veteran TV producer in to do a couple of voice lines and not at least offer them the job... especially when Leon Murray was the BB08 voice (so, still within the Ten era) and actually does voice work, y'know? 🤔

It was yes, as soon as I heard his voice I got goosebumps haha. That's why I'm praying he's at the helm. Just wasn't sure if he was still active as an EP in the industry, given he'd be around 67 by now.

But age is just a number of course.
 
Peter Abbott is the only EP that can make this reboot special.

Amelia Fisk is a chance of returning.

Simon Child and Margaret Bashfield would be great choices as well.
