BBUK returns Sun 8 Oct 2023 (and Celeb BB back in 2024)

That opener from Farida was a shocker but what I liked was that rather than taking instant offence Hallie took it as an opportunity to educate rather than argue. It's worth noting too how Hallie is looking for acceptance as a trans woman - everybodies story is different and back when Nadia did the show she was looking for acceptance as a woman.

Great episode - the bed task was fun but they need to be upfront about what people are playing for. If it had got down to one person and they'd got immunity we shouldn't be wondering as viewers whether that was always the plan or not.

And the Pot Noodle product placements was on KFC levels. Worked though - I had one after the show. Funnily enough the Banana and Peanut Butter Smoothie didn't similarly inspire me.
Attempting to watch, the itvx app is so bad. The adds are relentlessly long. And my hostel wifi in Prague is terrible it keeps cutting out and I have to keep restarting it.
ITVX is nortoriously bad - supposedly an improvement on the ITV Hub that it replaced last year but it is still incredibly buggy and programmes often crash on certain platforms (especially Firestick).

Also what annoyed me was when Yinrun was helping Trish shave her head, and Dylan came in and told her she was doing it wrong and took the clippers off her and continued doing it himself. Zero manners.

Meanwhile, eps are now appearing on BT if anyone finds that more convenient.

P.S. Confirmed on Late & Live nominations will air on Thursday, so presumably take place today. Would rather they're a day earlier personally so we see a bit more of the nominees knowing they're up for eviction than just during the eviction show highlights. (Will was excellent on Late & Live too - a natural fit for the spin off show)

I think Farida is highly likely to be up, possibly Henry and Jordan too. And if that's how the nominations fall we want no shithousery to try and get others up too in order to protect them.

I am hoping they keep it old school and use vote to evict, even if that means bigger characters going. I want evictions to change the dynamics in the house and see quieter housemates come out of themselves as bigger characters leave rather than people we've barely seen speak leave every week.

Jordan is someone who can very easily get himself evicted but proving to be very funny too so I could see him winning. Tom is my bet - seems a decent guy who gets on with most the house and not too alpha to be tarred with that brush. Yinrun is the early fan favourite it seems though, and I'd be on board with her winning too.

I agree, it also makes for more engaging viewing to know what they’re playing for so we can eagerly root for someone to win a simple game and get invested in it. But I thought it was fun nonetheless.

I also think Tom is a dark horse. He seems the type to go far, and he’s cute, a bit young but cute. I’m only 23 so I’ll let myself think it.

Team Yinrun ❤️

Yeah the Farida/Hailie thing was pretty well handled by both sides.

I think theyre also doing a decent job of the edit so far too - Everyones had at least a little moment of focus, There are some front runners but its been well covered.

If its going to be more than one person leaving maybe they'll put 5 or so up at a time? I still dont know how theyre going to pace it the regular way unless theres going to be a mass eviction or something every second night in the final week. I guess we'll find out soon.

I suspect we’ll get around 5 finalists at least. Probably a double or two towards the end as well. My bet is either the last weeks will be doubles or they might go ima celeb style and do an eviction every day in the final week. I seriously doubt there is going to be more than 5 in the final with only a 90 minute show.

If they only had one double in the first 5 weeks the final week would have as many housemates as BB1/2 started with.

12 would have been ideal - 4 single evictions, 1 double then a final midweek double (ideally with noms) leaving a final 4.

I wouldn't be completely against nightly evictions in the last week - might make it more of an event. 4 nightly single evictions and 4 in the final, so that would mean getting rid of 8 over 5 weeks - perhaps a double and triple.

The good thing about the new location is that they won't be tied to only doing Friday night evictions. There was a restriction in place at Elstree where they could only do a limited number of non-Friday live shows per year and most of them were taken up by CBB. It was due to the house being in a residential area, and it only left a small number of weekday live shows for civillian BB to use. It was strange seeing BB play music into the garden at nighttime in the last episode - I can't remember that ever happening at the old location, except for some rare occurences.

With Late & Live being, well, live every night of the week there's nothing to stop them say, doing 1 eviction every night of the week in the final week - especially since the interviews are taking place during the spin off show. They have a lot more degree of flexibility to do things this time around. We shouldn't have to worry about them rushing the process too much that leads to housemates leaving together and barely having any time to interview them both.

catching up on this. Jordan is about as exciting as drywall.

eh scratch that. i'm sure there's someone out there who can make drywall interesting.
IDK I love his dry sense of humour and IDGAF attitude. Wall flower, yes, but I kind of like how him and Harry go off and talk shit about everything. If I was in there he’d definitely be someone I’d gravitate towards.

I totally can understand exhaustion from needing to constantly come out. And I can get why she was frustrated, I personally just choose not to get so angry at people who make ignorant statements.
There’s people who are intentionally ignorant and there are others like Farida who are genuinely trying to educate themselves. She is 50 years old and I’m going to make an assumption that she isn’t around a lot of LGBT people.

It’s easy for a lot of us younger people who have been exposed to the LGBT community, more so than the boomers and Gen X, to chastise them for their ignorance. But there are some who genuinely do want to learn and those ignorant comments are unavoidable as many of them are uneducated. I’m sure Farida can learn from this and understand why what she said was wrong.

What I didn’t like was Hallie going around telling everyone about it. I suppose she was mentally frustrated about it and was hoping she’d come into the house not needing to explain herself. And you’re right, at 18 she probably hasn’t been thrown into the situation yet, so I can’t blame her for how she feels. I just think Farida didn’t intend for any harm and fully even admitted she only wanted to learn.

If I wrote a list of the amount of times a straight men has asked me a question and said something that didn’t sit right with me I’d be here all day. But I take time to remember that they’re just trying to understand themselves. I can’t just expect every straight person to get it, in my head there’s not much at all to understanding being gay, but there going to be people who don’t realise that.

I just think questions like that are ought to be expected, especially when there are people in the house who haven’t met a transgendered person before. But I can understand the mental frustration of realising that there is still a lot of work to do in regards to educating people. I’m sure as she gets older she’ll be able to handle those situations differently.

It’s also easy for a lot of people to look at someone like Farida and assume that just because she’s Muslim she’d be close minded to learning about it and would dismiss it. But I think it’s beautiful to see how open minded she is and how she wants to learn about other people. I don’t hold her in any disregard for phrasing her question like that. She’s just trying to understand.
I didn’t really see Hallie being annoyed with it but more just needing to get different perspectives. I think in general she’s more used to having discussions with people who at least have a base understanding that trans-woman are women and are able to approach her with questions that are more insightful and less crude, and/or insensitive sounding. I think Farida would have been better off asking another HM how to approach the question first so that she could approach her questions in a more sensitive manner.

I’m also someone who generally doesn’t mind questions but at the end of the day answering the same types of questions over and over again does get annoying and some times I’m just not in the mood for my sexuality to become a topic of conversation. At the end of the day it’s 2023 and not only is it not uncommon to know someone in the LGBTQI+ community we have a wealth of information at our finger tips. If you want to know something you can be informed.

Like I said above I think Farida would have been better off talking to Hallie by starting with a more informed base. Just because you can ask her yourself doesn’t necessarily mean you should.

It's worth noting too how Hallie is looking for acceptance as a trans woman - everybodies story is different and back when Nadia did the show she was looking for acceptance as a woman.
I disagree. Hallie’s point is that she is a woman and so was Nadia’s. The difference between her and Nadia is that Nadia wanted to experience life without having to answer for being a trans-woman where as Hallie having transitioned in a more accepting environment would likely view her transitioning in a far less traumatic light. Albeit not being an easy process for anyone to go through.
