Construction starts on new house in Sydney Olympic Park

Probably a silly question. I do not really keep up with the Sydney rules and restrictions, but with the rules regarding construction in Sydney is it likely the development of the house will be impacted at all? Or is it deemed essential?

It is impacted. All construction on hold for two weeks, including stadiums, roads, the new airport, etc. Nothing is considered 'essential' this time around.

Surely construction was almost done anyway - the garden looked as finished as it was likely to get and with the cast already in the country filming must have been due to start within a couple of weeks. Obviously will still be set back a bit but should be good to go relatively quickly once they are allowed.

Productions have been able to get exemptions for their trade departments (I was on set of a production just y/day). The only outside trade that BB would need is plumbing, and they won't have a trouble getting that on exemption either.

The new tougher harder NSW restrictions still having loopholes? Couldn’t be gladys..

Daily Fail reporting construction has definitely gone ahead. Here’s a picture of the back yard - you can see the eye shape, I’m predicting they’ll be using a BBUK esque eye entrance into the house..

That entrance facade… wow… hahah

Fair bit bigger for sure. I like the extra deck space for sun loungers around the pool at this one. That spa area looks like something from the earlier seasons, awesome. The finishes on all the walls just don't look as nice. The North Head yard really looked great for what it was with the green walls and timber panels, pool windows etc.

I wonder if any local BB fans will try and fly their drones over the outdoor area while they are filming? lol.

I mean it's right next to a road, and a bus stop. It also looks very "set" like, I understand it was always a house set but walls are literally being held up by other pieces of wood that looks like it could collapse. It may not, just looks like it.

Yeah that plywood wall looks so lightweight it could fall over if you farted too close to it. Not sure what it's like at Olympic Park but at Mascot where I used to work it could get some very gusty winds at times.

They are basically building the interior walls outside in the seven version. A lot of the house at dreamworld was plywood and then plaster put over the top in most cases. I get they can’t set up a concrete compound, but if you’re sitting in those chairs on the deck near the pool, if you look up you’d see the framing from the bulkhead overhanging that area. It all looks so flimsy, imagine if they get high winds! Also they hot tub area is the worst designing I have ever seen. It just looks terrible and screams temporary.

Also would it be that hard from them to get a palm tree in the pot to put in the centre of the yard, it’s so bare.

Realistically to make Big Brother work, 7 needs to commit to it for at least 5 years and build a semi-permanent, BBUK esque compound.

If 10 were able to take a risk with $13 Million in 2001 to build a dedicated production facility and compound, then why can’t 7 do the same now?

Keeping it cheap that’s why they are doing it this way in the first place. The whole point of BB on seven is a filler that is cost effective, can be manipulated to the story they want and fills a schedule.
