THE VIRUS 2020 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

Respectfully, that’s not the sentiment here in NSW. Most people are worried and have been very critical of the Premier’s handling of this outbreak. I myself have been critical of her and her half-hearted lockdown. You just need to scroll back a page or two to see I haven’t been ‘going to any length to defend my state’ but rather been calling BS on this whole thing. This lockdown is a cluster fuck and the spread is catastrophic. Heads should roll for this, and most of NSW appear to be on the same page.
Sorry if it read that way it wasn't aimed at you specifically, I have read your comments, but even you have said you are pissed off with the numbers you have seen at Bondi etc not taking it seriously. Of course I am possibly also being sucked in a bit by the narritive the media is presenting wich may be different than reality.

There are a lot of new exposure sites each day though so it does show that not all people are taking it seriously.

You could say the same about VIC during their second outbreak but It’s Not wasn’t concerned then, was he? Showing that you truly deserved that troll award.
Funnily enough just on the last page explaining why I haven’t talked about Victoria’s handling of the second outbreak. 😉

I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for someone who is living there and trying to do the right thing. Grrrrr!!!

I can't remember that far back. No, there were far more worthy winners for that than me.

Thing is NSW claimed they were the gold standard and criticised Victoria (and at the time in its hardest months) for IMO necessarily lockdowns. NSW government made this the whole “my state is better than your state” issue.
Prior to this, NSW were the gold standard. I stand to be corrected on this, but I don't feel NSW was critical of Victoria at all? NSW has always maintained a strong opinion on border closures (ie. Queensland / WA shutting borders).

The state vs state thing is a media beat up. A politician or spokesperson for NSW hasn't publicly declared that NSW is better to my knowledge?

You have done lots of assuming about me and mostly inaccurate.

I am just going off what you have posted here previously, and as I said, you have publicly declared your dislike for NSW and stated your condemnation for the pandemic is only reserved for NSW. I have even directly asked you about how Victoria handled the pandemic, and you refused to answer. Did I make assumptions about your position? Possibly. But based off what you post, I don't think it was unreasonable to draw that conclusion.

Kevin Rudd (@MrKRudd) Tweeted:
Here’s a statement from my office responding to media enquiries. https://t.co/xsUWIHohM0

Cannot have it both ways.

People (particularly Turnbull) applauded him for taking initiative to get further vaccines but his statement confirms that “all negotiating powers are with the Federal Government”. So which is it exactly? It seems to me to be a case of praise with no action on his behalf.

I didn't take it as directed at me, but wanted to jump in - I 100% agree with you.

The media are fucked. It goes back to the conversation that was on here the other day about knowing what to believe and what not to. There are definitely people not taking it seriously, which is why the numbers go up. But a vast majority of the population here are doing the right thing and staying home where possible. But the media portray us like we're all out here, living our best life with no regard for others, spreading the virus.

At the end of the day, this could have happened in any city here in Australia, and just goes to show that 18 months in, we're no where near the end of this pandemic.

If only Morrison had shown even a little bit of the leadership that a leader should then Rudd wouldn't be compelled to do what he did.

NSW came up with the “gold standard” language. They made comments during Victoria’s second outbreak last year and I directly quote Gladys:
“I fear for Victoria and I worry about what their government may do. I hope we have demonstrated to other states it is possible to manage an outbreak and not shut down a city.”
Basically saying NSW is better at managing the virus. Even if the truth those sort of comments are not helpful when Victoria was in a world of pain. It was plain state superiority.

Once again… Except Russ did NOTHING that is bringing forward vaccinations to Australia. Only the Federal Government has that power as per Pfizer’s and even Rudd’s own statement.

Still it shows how bad the federal government have been with the vaccine rollout.

Wow that's an aged like milk comment from the NSW leader.

From what I remember when I said that I was annoyed at you questioning my opinion so I just “agreed” with you that I only held my disdain for NSW because I couldn’t be fffed arguing with you. You obviously wanted to be in the right. If you asked me about Victoria I must have not answered because imo it wasn’t really relevant to my argument. Why do I need to tell you my opinion on the handling on Victoria’s outbreak to have a valid opinion on NSW’s? I thought NSW was moving too slow.

Like I said on the other page I haven’t been a big fan of the stuff ups of the Victorian government but I have agreed with the lockdowns to manage it. Hope everyone knows my opinion on that now.
