THE VIRUS 2020 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

As I ranted weeks ago, Vic people behaved like morons as soon or even before restrictions were eased a bit
They all went back to cafes and busy streets mingling closely, as I said I tried to report it, nobody to report to, I tried the police, useless

You can't generalise about "Vic people behaving like morons, " like that.

The outbreak was not caused by people going to cafes, street minglings etc. It was caused by a small number of idiot security guards, not doing their job in hotel quarantine. Not even to the bare minimum. Who then went an attended large religious (EID) and family gatherings. Which is the spread occurred before breaking out into the community.

Even now they are saying it's family gatherings, not cafes, pubs where the spread is occurring as they expand the lockdowns into more regions. Outside of high-risk workplaces (cold damp meat processing plants, outbreaks coming from members of the community where the outbreak occurred) or Old folks homes which are a shit show. The outbreak came for these segments of the community having large gatherings. It's all out there and known, but being downplayed for politically correct reasons.

It just shows how a small number doing the wrong thing, ignoring the rules can impact everyone. Like those two morons girls in QLD. Although apparently people only care because they're racist, despite weeks of mocking Karens and white people in the press.

Well then let me be specific

I am in permanent lockdown due to having an auto immune disease, immune system is fucked: plus previous bouts of pneumonia have fucked up my lungs
And, out of respect to shop keepers/servers/doctors

If I got i would likely die, so I have worn masks since February allways when I have to go to the doctor or chemist
Sanitiser in my hand at all times
Ventured to grocery shop rarely mostly my son does the riskier stuff
The only risky thing I did was attend a small 10 people funeral in April
I would wear a hazard suite/shield anything to protect
And regardless of my health, I believe we owe it to shop servers to make them as safe as possible.

I had to pass through Clayton to get to my specialist last month, nobody distanced, and I had to jump out of the way of people it was frightening

Then I travel through Bentleigh to get home, same, same

These people are just pretending it is over, and possibly are the very workers from homes, hotels, abattoirs etc spreading

Anyway, I don't disagree with your message, but it runs further and deeper and wider for we have far too many fools
i just don't understand why people are not being responsible for their own actions and are not being careful or clean
My local area is on the tipping point, way too many infected

On a more positive note....
We have glorious sunshine, and it is increasing, I hope the worst of winter is over, it has been a very icey cold winter here

After literally not leaving the house for about two weeks except to go for runs, I went shopping today. Honestly shocked about how many people were out and about. The most people I've seen down the shops since this began. Everyone had masks, but still...

I remember reading something about masks...

The article said that they give a false sense of security. Probably seeing that effect now. People thinking masks will protect them so they are more comfortable going out to the shops etc. Sad.

They totally would be, it's common sense that it would.

While masks would provide a level of protection, even if mostly worn in low-risk situations, we all have to do whatever we can. We also know that public policy over mask-wearing across the world has been done for various reason, including the physiological impact of making people take the risk seriously.

I would not be surprised if at this stage into the coronavirus in Australia, after we seemingly got through the initial phase without them, without much of a viral spread. Maybe that aspect of making people "extra cautious" has less of an impact. People feel like they've got their own personal Ironman suit that'll make them invulnerable. They know they weren't needed in the first lockdown, but now it makes them feel extra safe. So they're less cautious if wearing one.

It could also explain why everyone is extra scared when they see someone without a mask. They're compromising our Ironman suits!

Although don't be mistaken, I think people should be wearing masks, we need to do whatever we can. Maybe if people are wreckless we will need that tougher lockdown.

Ha? Here in Melbourne my local Woolworths had all staff wearing masks 2 weeks ago when they became mandatory. This week the staff members were not wearing any masks at all? Seriously! I don't know what the hell is going on with this shop?

Anyway I went to a Chemist Warehouse the other day and they had a lady at the front entrance checking everyone's temperature with one of those handheld infrared thermometer device. That's the only place and the first time where they checked my temperature before entering a retail store.

Maybe they ran out of masks... don't laugh. That brings me to the question - why don't all shopping centers and supermarkets have a stand at the door where we can buy a mask?

Well they should. The Kwik E Mart near me has a 'no mask no entry' rule, and they have sanitiser and masks at the entry. Malls take your temp as you go in, and I actually find it reassuring to know my temp is under 37C every time.

My neighbours having a mass gathering on their property lol.

Honestly, I would anonymously call the cops. If anything those two moron girls from QLD have shown is, is how easily it can be spread.

Sounds like we are going to Stage 4. Yikes!

So at my local supermarket yesterday I saw a guy buying coals and bags of ice for a bBq. I get the feeling most south Australians have a false sense of security about all of this and cases here could easily sky rocket.
