THE VIRUS 2020 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

So on one had there is complaints that untrained people are hired to do jobs they are not trained to do, but then Peta demands for untrained government department people on light duties to do jobs they are not trained to do? This seems a little inconsistant.

The only thing inconsistent is people questioning the very wise Peta Credlin.

Contact tracing is probably a bit easier and less dangerous for an untrained person to learn than the quarantining of international returnees who are possibly carrying a contagion.

What is the difference between a Sky News clip thread and a general media clip thread?

Just because you don't agree with or support the message doesn't make the content irrelevant to the thread topic.
 
For what its worth, i goal umpired a game of football today with the footy leagues umpiring manager being one of the field umpires, and in the change rooms before the game we discussed the coronavirus crisis. He said yes we need to be concerned about the health side of the crisis but we also need to worry about both the tanking economy and peoples mental health which means we cant JUST listen to the public health experts as we also need to take onboard the views of business leaders and psychologists.

True and I think more importantly we need to listen to credible media personalities like Peta Credlin and take their advice on board.
 
Meanwhile the best way to help pay for the coronavirus crisis is to curtail middle class welfare. Think removing; capital gains tax discounts, negative gearing, home buyers grants, health insurance rebates, free childcare, private school subsidies, franking credits, family tax benefits, etc.
 
I know it is a while away, and a lot can change between now and then, but has anyone given consideration to how Christmas 2020 may play out given the Coronavirus could very well still be a big thing then?

- Christmas shopping in crowded malls is already a nightmare, now throw in strict social distancing requirements, and you have a recipe for disaster.
- Christmas holidays on packed modes like roads and planes is already chaotic, now throw in strict travel restrictions, and you are asking for trouble.

Maybe if the media and government downplays the celebration of Christmas this year then our society will be a lot better off in the long run with less consumerism, waste, stress, debt, etc.
