US 2016 Presidential Election

Manners may seem very old fashioned. But I actually think they are very relevant. Call it diplomacy. on a grander, political scale if you will. Or Even Grace. Or simply manners!!

But Donald Trump has no Grace. and no manners. And who wants a world withOUT Grace. That seems bleak, indeed.

Donald Trump is just standing up for America.

bah who cares about manners or grace? who cares about being nice? nice is not a very attractive look. no, not very attractive at all. being nice is horrible, very horrible indeed. not at all attractive. being nice is the worst thing that one can be. absolutely awful. i never ever want to be nice. i want to be the opposite of nice. then maybe i will be more attractive which will be better than just being nice. because if i am nice then i won't be attractive that won't do mooseface. i can't be just nice, nice is the worst thing that i can be. it will be simply unattractive and i will be hated for being nice and therefore unattractive. if i am nice than i will suffer eternal torment for being unattractive. i will suffer so much for my bad choices about being nice because i know that then i will be unattractive. if i get to be attractive then that means i can not be nice. that is very important, it is very important and vital that i can not be nice at all as that means i have become unattractive.

It is important though, vitally important, so much very important, that i not be nice. i mean being nice doesn't win you elections or make you attractive and i have to understand that. all it does is serve to placate people who probably never liked you in the first place.

Liking Trump to be loyal to inigo could be read as a nice gesture. To me this gesture makes you less attractive because I have lost a lot of respect of your opinion. It seems like you have too as to me it reads your comments no longer have the conviction of what you believe. When you were supporting Bernie you provided proof of why you did and read widely to understand all views. Now you are stubbornly refusing to look at anything that may impact your loyalty to her. And really there is no need. When she is bored and wants an ego boost she will be back to get it anyway no matter what you are saying or doing on here.

Respecting yourself is a far sexier quality than sycophancy.

Ok Rant over.

That should have happened a long time ago. Talks complete garbage.

I do respect myself though. And i have never been sycophantic to anyone, including inigo.

And i like trump for reason i explained before not to be nice as a gesture. bleurghhhhh!

And what do you mean by ego boost?

How can i talk complete garbage when i'm the most handsomest, not nicest, smartest person on this forum?

Only got 'not nicest' correct. Smartest is very wrong (as there are many types of smarts) and most handsomest is in the eye of the beholder, so I disagree completely.

Well your hero got owned by Turnbull. Who'd have thought it?
And I agree with Kidman & McConaughy, it's done, protesting isn't going to change it.
Find a way to do it properly.

Didn't Turnbull just get bought by Trump?

Trump saved Turnbull from a leadership spill. The right was going to role Turnbull if this deal fell through because it meant the only actual option left was for the refugees to come here.

What annoys me in a lot of the coverage, there's all the Trump bashing and yet no reflection that what he have done to those refugees is god awful. If Trump had done it, the media and everyone would be demanding his head. Through out this whole thing, there is no self reflection in the media and by many of us doing everything they claim to hate about Trump.

Trump sneezes and the left demand his head.

Okay. So you're not in this universe then?
And it's "roll"
And it was never on the cards (unless you're a leftist looney", even Shorten supported Turnbull, which must have pained him considerably)
and this is why I don't normally do the politics thing, too much rusted thinking.

I don't think it's unreasonable to consider right wing of Turnbull's party to blame him if the deal didn't go through.

Those right wing dickheads on Sky News were even discussing it last night.

Wait, so you and they think Abbott is the man for the job now?
Because I can't see the boys club putting Julie up, who would also put Trump back in his box btw. Can't see anyone on in the Labor camp capable atm. Can you?

Anyway, will leave you to it, Don't sit in either camp, not playing with those who choose to keep sitting in the mud. Regardless of which mud that might be.

Alarming reading.

Note also the most frightening escalation last night was that the DHS made it fairly clear that they did not feel bound to obey any court orders. CBP continued to deny all access to counsel, detain people, and deport them in direct contravention to the court’s order, citing “upper management,” and the DHS made a formal (but confusing) statement that they would continue to follow the President’s orders. (See my updates from yesterday, and the various links there, for details) Significant in today’s updates is any lack of suggestion that the courts’ authority played a role in the decision.

That is to say, the administration is testing the extent to which the DHS (and other executive agencies) can act and ignore orders from the other branches of government. This is as serious as it can possibly get: all of the arguments about whether order X or Y is unconstitutional mean nothing if elements of the government are executing them and the courts are being ignored.

Zunger’s point is that last weekend the White House and Department of Homeland Security happily ignored court orders related to the Muslim ban, and there was no real consequence to it.

If Mr Trump’s inner circle gets good at going around the conventional processes, the result is essentially coup-like: Congress and the Supreme Court can try to oppose him all it likes, but if he’s willing to just keep going around the normal processes, there is not a lot they can do.

By finding ways to exercise power unchallenged, Mr Trump’s inner circle were able to enact an unconstitutional order. And the only lesson that they derived from it is that it actually doesn’t matter how unconstitutional something they do is, as long as they go around the Departments that will object, they can get it done.

But if Mr Trump is prepared to go around his departments and media, ignore diplomatic protocols and sideline the US Military, will he really obey the will of Congress and the Supreme Court when they start trying to put limits on his power?

What it means is that much of the conventional thinking about how Mr Trump’s presidency will play out needs to be completely rethought. It’s no use running off to a court to get the President’s order declared unconstitutional if the President plans on ignoring the court’s declaration.
