US 2016 Presidential Election

Its really easy, when you achieve material success, to somehow believe you and your efforts were instrumental in the outcome and not The System. And of course... they are/were. But there is also ... The System.

the system? sounds ominous to me. like some sort of shadowy company. the kind who meet in underground car parks and drive big black suv's with tinted windows. and when you ask about them people get shifty and look around whilst saying 'Uhhh, the system? I don't know what you are talking about. There's no system. Ha ha ha ha ha ha...ugh.'

Yep. That's where the real action starts.

She doesn't seem very inspiring. Very much an establishment figure.
Not at all. When she delivers a speech at a campaign stop she sounds shrill and desperate. Even though I don't care for obamas policies, he's a gifted speaker.

he is.

who do you think will be the republican nomination?

Of course The System plays a role. I grew up very poor. I took advantage of public school and actually studied. I paid for college and grad school. I do not consume goods in excess. Today I am well off. The System played a role early on by propelling me to go forward. I don't understand why others gripe about not getting a fair chance. The System can only do so much for you.

God only knows. I like Bush and Kasich with Trump a distant third. I cannot stand Cruz and Rubio...both seem to me to be snake oil salesmen. I don't trust either one.

what about for the democrats?
Bernie seems like an affable guy, but boy oh boy he needs to stay away from my paycheck. The guy is a modern day robin hood. Hilary just comes across as seriously untrustworthy. Her slogan is "fighting for us" or something like that. The only person she's fighting for is herself.

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia passed away today. Choosing his replacement will be contentious.

australia or america it all comes down to pie in the sky promises during election time, then when the dust has settled they temper their rhetoric slightly and try to compromise with the opposition if they can. this pisses off the more idealistic voters who got taken in by the catchy three word slogans and the dreams that float in the clouds.

Edit: Highlight for me. 2.45 mark. Glorious quote usage and synchronicity. Essence of Trump.

Sorry for mini-spam. Just wanted to share. Subjective I know.
1.38 mark also well done. Im just in the midst of a giggle fest. Good cognac tends to have that relaxing effect.

who are you hoping to be the next us president?

I dont really hope for anyone. Trump? Hilary Clinton? Might as well give OJ parole to have a shot. I find the whole US process absurd and as a result I have a morbid fascination.
But with a shiver down my spine also. That we will inevitably drift into that circus production.
And I sometimes forget that it is not mandatory to vote there.
Its a market that Bush oil was happy to spend cash on.
