The Bachelor Australia has long been known for its flashy displays and taste for anything luxurious as it tries to impress the contestants enough to fall hopelessly in love.
But this year Sam Wood appears to be bucking the trend and has favoured much more low key dates - particularly when compared to his glitz and glamour loving predecessor, Blake Garvey.
On Wednesday night's instalment, none of the five - now four - remaining girls where treated to anything remotely extravagant.

Blown the budget? Sam Wood treated his finalists to very inexpensive dates on Wednesday night's episode
Rod and reel fishing by the water's edge followed by a takeaway box of fish and chips was all that was afforded for Nina, who was swiftly given the boot at the end of the episode.
But it didn't get much better for his favourites either with Snezana's very simple stroll through the rain making Heather's lunch and a beer at a roadside skiff club look positively high class.
A visit to the local driving range meanwhile, was all Sam could muster up for late-coming frontrunner Lana, and Sarah was only lucky enough to get a cheese platter and the usual chat on the couch.
While this week's episode has been particularly low budget, it follows on from a series of dates lacking the same star factor of previous series.

Simple: Rod and reel fishing by the water's edge followed by a takeaway box of fish and chips was all that was afforded for Nina

Rather unflattering: Sarah was only treated to a cheese platter and a chat on the couch

Doing well: Heather's lunch and a beer at a skiff club at The Spit looked positively high class when compared to the others
Only one helicopter ride has been rolled out this year after Blake enjoyed two as well as tandem loop-de-loop planes during his time.
Sam has favoured relatively inexpensive barnyard and beach side dates, with one of the most extravagant offerings being on the disaster-ridden groundhog day singles when a limo ride came complete with a flat tire in need of changing.
When Blake tried to pull a similar stunt on Laurina, giving her a bowling date with a 'dirty street pie' for dinner, she was up in arms - so much so another contestant imitated her saying: 'Where's my helicopter and diamonds?'

Keen: Lana meanwhile, only managed a visit to the local driving range in the rain

Sky high: On his series, Blake Garvey enjoyed two helicopter rides and a spin in a loop-de-loop plane

Disappointed: When he famously tried something more low key on Laurina she lamented her lack of diamonds in favour of a 'dirty street pie'
