TBL Families

With her being pregnant, I wonder what the time frame was as to when it was filmed and is her pregnancy going to be incorporated into the show? Going by the food eating promos, it would be yucky for her if it's fairly recent. I suspect it was done much earlier this year.

I had wondered this too and i seem to recall working out via Tiffiny's (whose parents cannot spell) Instagram that it definitely overlapped, but still within the early stages. I don't think we'll see a bump or anything. Poor Michelle is apparently copping so much hate for working out during this pregnancy, I'm sure even more will come when the show airs.

It would be healthier and safer for her to work out I'd suggest as she's very fit and she will know what's right for her. From memory she does have exercising for pregnancy in her resume of things. No or markedly less exercise would be detrimental, wouldn't it.

Re: the winners and trainers.

Season 1 - Adro was trained by Michelle
Season 2 - Chris was commando (he was soooo skinny)
Season 3 - Sam was Shannon
Season 4 - Bob was shannan (I adored Bob. My all time favourite)
Season 5 - no idea who was even on, I guess I didn't watch?
Season 6 - a girl trained by Tiffany, but she was actually eliminated early and did it all at home. The family with most combined weight loss was trained by Shannon.
Season 7 - Margie was trained Michelle
Season 8 - the mother and daughter won I remember, no idea who trained them though.
Season 9 - commando.

Kinda sad that I'm apparently a TBL savant and can recall that, but yeah it's fairly when with winners, everyone has had at least one winner.

I'm actually surprised that Michelle is coming back this season, I had heard they were casting for a new trainer but they must have just gone with Tiffiny. I assumed that they couldn't afford Michelle, her salary for this show must be pretty huge these days.
Imo nobody compares to Jillian, who quite possibly is the best PT ever but I like Michelle and her style over everyone else on the Aus one.
Shannon comes across as one dimensional and inflexible with training, his rapport building is probably above Michelle's but his knowledge of exercise and diet is far less.

The blonde chick, can't even remember her name lol isn't really impressive at all.

I found out the other day that Tiffiny is married to Ed Kavalee.

Yeah exactly. While I'm far from an expert in either fitness or pregnancy I believe the typical school of thought is that it's ok to maintain whatever exercise you were doing before with a reduction on jumping and not overheating your core, but if anyone knows what they're doing its Michelle. It's just concerned trolls hassling her, I think most semi-decent people know that Michelle knows what she's doing and it's not really anyone else's business anyway.

Yeah Jillian is a great trainer, but yeah so is Michelle. Michelle has a good amount of tough love, Jillian would be too scary for me to train with. Haha unimpressive is actually the perfect word for Tiffiny, she's just sort of "there" really.

I know this isn't directed at me, but allow me to bite.

My issue is not with the conduction of the show. Sure, these people signed up for a weight loss show. They knew they were putting themselves at a health risk - they probably waive a lot of things in their contracts. I feel this is troubling - that we turn this into "entertainment"; but you're not wrong - this is what they signed up for.

What viewers of this show sign up for is a perceived "reality".

The problem is; by fabricating "weeks" on the show; many viewers at hom

Also I should add that the show gives an unhealthy idea of what "healthy" is. If you're 120kgs but you can carry that over a marathon, you're healthy. If you've dropped from 150kgs to 90kgs but you're skin and bone; you're not healthy.

Cheers, thanks for that. So looks like its pretty even with trainers/winners.

I'm putting it out there that the winner this year is going to be from Michelle's team.

Is tough love where they yell at the contestants and then pat them on the back afterwards? Also does that work? Because i am not sure it would work for everyone.

A good trainer is flexible, some people prefer to be yelled at and some don't.

Not so much in this case, tough love is just the idea of being cruel to be kind and helping someone long term by causing them some short term stress, which is basically what all training is but some trainers are big on militant punishment and yelling to get results. Some people respond well to this while others prefer gentle encouragement or being babied etc, each trainer is different too but as sorceress said, a good will be able to adapt to their client and find what motivates them.

I think Michelle is good at achieving that balance between the the two, she can be very tough but also gentle and supportive.

Also yelling forces someone into a fight or flight where they have to just do things, they can't overthink or weasel their way out of it so they really do actually work to their full potential.

The differences can be highlighted with coaching, if you look at Craig Bellamy and Wayne Bennett in the NRL, Bellamy is always yelling and goes nuts even when the Storm concedes points after flogging the other team, but the Storm have been successful for a very long time.
Wayne Bennett encourages in a completely different way, he's soft spoken but he is widely regarded as one of the best of all time.

I hate the guy who comes on and tells them all their real age etc, telling them how they're going to die. I find him really judgmental considering that the people are on there trying to do something about it.
Just like I'm pretty sure they know that a 1 tonne burrito isn't good for them, they don't need the trainer looking disgusted.

I like it when we seem them actually teaching the people about correct nutrition although I believe that the number of kj's that they have them consume is way too small considering all the exercise they are doing and even just by normal daily activities. It can really mess things up for that short-term gain.

Overall I think that the trainers all want a better life for the contestants, I just hate the basic premise of pushing their heart rate up to ridiculous levels when the ideal fat-burning heart rate is much lower, and also the high-impact exercises causing so many of them to have shin-splints and other injuries that permanently damage them.

I still like watching it and like to see how much they lose, I just hope people don't think that you need to spew every time you exercise.

Maybe they do the high impact exercises because it looks more entertaining on tv?

Anway............

Lol....le bloopers....

Thinking, with no Big Brother on, and me having caught the reality tv bug again (WHICH IS TOTALLY TRUE! YOU JUST GOTTA BELIEVE IT! WHATEVER. I DON'T CARE IF YOU BELIEVE ME OR NOT!), I might watch the show again. Though I said might..........
