…MR STICKYFINGERS (sort of) BOWS OUT FOR A WHILE…

Hi Mr Stickyfingers - sending love and hugs and hoping for constant progress to go with your onwards and upwards style! Sorry to hear you are going through all this though - must have been very worrisome but its great to hear of your progress
We luvs ya here Mr Stickyfingers :) keep us up with your news!

@Rose711 - imagine a pile of mail and parcels gathering at front desk for Mr Stickyfingers and the explaining that would have to be done :)

Hey @Mr Stickyfingers I'm so sorry to see that you won't be around for a while. You are such a nice and welcoming poster on here, I will really miss your posts.
I wish you a speedy recovery... Good luck and I can't wait till you're back!

...another update for you really wonderful caring people... I have been doing such grueling exercises in the gymnasium over the last few days believe me!... it's paying off because I have been awakening muscles etc... I can now lift my left foot from the floor... move my ankle from side to side and 'roll' it too... my toes are moving a lot more freely... (the big toe is not quite moving independently to the rest of them yet but I'm working on it)... the stretch exercises are strenuous but I'm up for it...

...my balance is back again completely... my slurring speech has gone altogether... my left hand in about 80% back to it's dexterity... (I'm actually typing a couple of letters here and there with it now!)... I still can't touch my pinky fingertip with my thumb yet but considering that I couldn't even move the fingers at all a week ago I'm pretty chuffed that I've got this far...

...they tell me that I am scheduled to be in the rehabilitation Hospital for 3 weeks but they are beginning to think that it may be a bit sooner because of my determination lol!... I am not to drive my car until I see my specialist and get clearance to do so after I leave the Hospital... I'm fine with that... the great thing is that my 'Mojo' has bounced right back!...

...when I posted my first post in this thread I was pretty beaten up and was a tad bit down despite my cheeriness that I put in the post... I thought that I would be out of action for some months at the time... (I was so damn tired)... but... after reassessing the situation as of today I feel that upon my release in a couple of weeks and I'm home again on my home computer and not this laptop that I may be able to get back to my usual rants and raves sooner rather than later lol!...

...sending presents for 'Mr Stickyfingers' to this Hospital?... ha ha ha!.... I'm not sure if I'd own up to it in case they asked my why I'm called just that... 'Mr Stickyfingers'!!!!!!!... lol!... it would be awkward to explain I guess...lololol!... funny funny funny!... anyhow you wonderful people... thanks for all of the kind caring words and happy posting my friends... cheers.

That is sooooooo awesome Mr Sticky, you continue the good work and best wishes to your wife and family I am sure that they have been worried about you

...hello you wonderful people... your kind thoughts and well wishing on my behalf really is overwhelming and quite humbling for me... I thank you so much!... the latest update?...
...I got onto a Gymnasium bike for the first time in my life today... >>>> insert shock/ horror moment<<<<... wow!... how do you healthy people exercise each day on purpose?... lol!... all my life I have never done such things as the exercise that I have done in these two Hospitals since my stroke... as I say... you healthy people choose to do this exercise thingy on purpose???????... anyhow... to compare as to how far that I have progressed since last Friday until today here are the differences:

(1) today I did 100 stand-ups from a sitting position as opposed to 20 last Friday...
(2) I did two sets of 50 leg stretches whereas I could only do 10 last Friday...
(3)in a sitting position I had to lift my right leg (the good one) an inch from the ground and had to hold it there for 3 seconds then put it down and repeat the same thing with my bum leg... that was the hardest exercise out of all of them believe me!... I managed 3 last Friday... I did 50 today!...
(4) I also did extensive hand training exercises involving picking up matchsticks/ beads/ pegs nuts and bolts and placing them into a container... also some reaching and hand stretching exercises... I get impatient with those exercises because I feel it's wasting valuable walking type exercises but I do understand the reasons to do them though so I guess I should stop being a Princess and suck it up eh?... lol!...
(5)I did 100 'stepping' up and down exercises as opposed 10 last Friday...
(6)I chatted up 2 female Doctors.... 4 female nurses and 2 female Physio girls as opposed to none last week...(I did say that my 'mojo' was back didn't I?)... lol!...

...I'm able to spread my toes on the left foot as wide as they can go now... they are moving independently to the big toe... I'm now able to tie my shoe laces as easy as I used to be able to do before my stroke... I even managed to pick a Boogie out of my left nostril with a tissue on my finger on my left hand!... (now if that's not progress then nothing is!)... all in all I feel proud of myself for what I am achieving... it is always very hard to impress myself as I always set myself very high standard objectives.... even by my standards I am really impressed by my achievements...

...my Neurologist and my main Doctor have told me that I have progressed in just under 3 weeks of rehabilitation as far as someone would normally progress in 5 or 6 weeks so I guess that my stubbornness is finally working for me rather than against me for one of the rare times in my life!...with Doctors telling me stuff like that I must be doing something right I guess lol!...

...anyhow... enough talking about me... and as I like to say...

...keep on posting you wonderful people... cheers.

So proud of you Sticky! Great work! And I bet the ladies all enjoyed your compliments!

...thankyou delcan... the nurses couldn't believe that I had the hide to chat up the Doctors... it was a first time for one of them... they told me that she was stoked!... they believe that it's the first time that they've seen her crack a smile... aaaah!... the old Stickyman's charm is kicking back into action... (I did mention my 'mojo 'in the previous post didn't I?)... the funny thing is... my dear sweet darling wife that I love cherish and adore will just laugh and shake her head when she gets told... (she knows that I'm such a tart)... fun times indeed... cheers

Fantastic to hear you're going so well Sticky! I was literally just wondering how you were doing and logged on to see if you had updated and low and behold you just did in the past 10 minutes

Awwwww, I'm so happy to see you posting and even happier at your fantastic progress. You are one of the larger than life characters that shine through on this message board and your hospital anecdotes and antics really make me giggle and smile.

Always look on the Bright side of life...indeed, Mr.S. It's a true anthem and one of my favourites.
Don't let up on keeping those Doctors and nurses on their toes...you devil you ;) hahaha Much love and good wishes to you...and also your dear wife...I have no doubt she's been through a very rough time with watching what you've been through...very hard on family.
Hope to hear from you again soon.

Hey Unkie Sticky!

You know you have turned a corner in your recovery when you are back to >>>>colour changes<<<< and you are trying to chase the overworked nurses around the bed!

Good to see you are making such a speedy recovery! Xo

Have they continued with a clexane/heparin treatment, or are you now on warfarin?

aaaaw Mr sticky you made me giggle.....love your posts and so glad you are doing better

...thankyou so very much dear Lindsay... I feel that my self worth is shining through when I'm making people laugh again... humour is such a health tonic at times...

...thankyou lynn-ann... as with others your words are so exhilarating... my dear loving soul mate that is my darling wife has stayed at a Motel which is a 10 minute walk from the Hospital here at Katoomba... she stays on Wednesdays and Thursdays to break the week up for us and it saves her travelling so much up and down the mountains... so as you can imagine... I'm excited about today... the good thing is that when she comes to visit me it doesn't matter if I'm in the Gymnasium doing my exercises... the Hospital allows your family into the Gym and actually encourages them to participate in the rehabilitation process!... needless to say... having my babe watching me 'pump iron' really does inspire me to do even better... I love it!... (she's watching me 'get buffed' for her... 'six-pack' here I come!... lololol!)...

...hey Trala... how are you my favourite wildfire lady?... hahaha!... I just love those colour chaneges baby!... to answer your question my sweet...I have been on 'Plavix' since I had my first stroke 4 1/2 years ago... when I had this one the first hospital that I went to (Hawkesbury District Hospital at Windsor where I live) then added Aspirin to my tablet intake.... today I am having a dye of some type and are going to scan me with it... I'm not sure what they call it all but yeah... that's what's happening... I was told by the Doctors that they don't think that I'll go onto 'Warfarin'... they said that they don't really want me to go 'up a notch' to stronger stuff because it may cause bleeding problems etc later down the track...

...I guess that they'll make big decisions after they have done this scan today... anyhow you wonderful people... keep on posting... I love you all!... cheers.
