The hack is from China on behalf of NK.
Whether state sanctioned or not,. In china you have the state hackers, but you get lots of trained computer hackers who see it as their duty to protect Chinese interests through hacking. A kind of online activism. This has probably in some way extended to North Korean interests.

Want to lose weight? Breathe out

Instead of focusing on your hips, stomach or thighs for the post-Christmas workout, try paying a bit more attention to your lungs.

Australian researchers have found that the majority of weight lost when we do manage to shed the kilos is actually breathed out as carbon dioxide.

The findings, published today in the British Medical Journal, answer a 100-year old question: where does the fat go when we lose weight?

Lead author Ruben Meerman, physicist, and presenter with ABC TV's Catalyst, became curious about the question after managing to lose a substantial amount of weight over the course of 2013.

"Being a physicist, I knew that it wasn't turning into heat but it turns out that most people think that's where it goes," says Meerman.

He turned to the biochemistry of fat, and discovered that while the precise chemical formula of fat has been known since 1960 -- it's a mix of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen -- no one had quantified exactly what happens to all the atoms that make up fat when it is burned off during activity.

"You know that all of the carbon in it is going to become carbon dioxide, and the other thing it becomes is water so you know all the hydrogen in fat will become water, but what's not clear at all is what's going to happen to the oxygen atoms that are part of the fat molecule," Meerman says.

After four months of research, Meerman and co-author Professor Andrew Brown from the University of New South Wales discovered the final piece of the puzzle, buried in a journal article published back in 1949.

This showed that the oxygen atoms are shared between the carbon dioxide and water in a ratio of 2:1, so four oxygen atoms are exhaled, and two are excreted in bodily fluids such as sweat, tears and urine.

This gave the researchers a final figure of 84 per cent of atoms that make up a fat molecule exhaled as carbon dioxide, and the remaining 16 per cent lost through water.

Their analysis also showed that for every 10 kilograms of fat being 'lost' or oxidised, the body actually needs an additional 29 kilograms of oxygen, with the resulting output of 28 kilograms of carbon dioxide, and 11 kilograms of water.

Exercise key
While the findings answer a fundamental question about the biochemistry of weight loss, unfortunately it does not mean that simply breathing faster is the new key to shedding extra kilos.

"If you sit still in a chair and you start breathing more than required, that's hyperventilation and you'll get tingly fingers and palpitations and if you keep going too long you'll faint," Meerman says.

"The breathing faster is definitely what you need to do, but you have to do it because your body needs to get rid of more carbon dioxide because you're exercising."

The paper shows that only a relatively small amount of weight is lost as exhaled carbon dioxide on a typical sedentary day -- typically around 200 grams for a 70 kilogram adult -- and that will only increase with physical activity.

"You can only breathe so many times a day; on a day of rest, you breathe around 12 times a minute so 17,280 times you'll breathe in a day and each one takes 10 milligrams of carbon with it, roughly," Meerman says.

"So there's your limit on how much you're going to lose in a day with no exercise."

Eight Children Murdered in Cairns.

EIGHT children are dead in a Manoora house and a woman is being questioned by police in what is being labelled a “tragic, tragic event”.

Paramedics were initially called to the Murray St residence around 11.20am to treat a woman suffering stab wounds.

Far North Crime Coordinator Det Insp Bruno Asnicar said police were then called and found the bodies of eight children aged approximately between 18 months and 15 inside.

Police have not confirmed how they were killed.

They have also not confirmed the relationship between the woman and children.

“The crime scene has been locked down including from me,” Det Insp Asnicar said.

“These events are extremely distressing for everyone of course.”

Detectives and uniformed police continue to surround the one-storey residence which is beside a park.

Det Insp Asnicar said it was likely the crime scene would operate for several days.

He said the 34-year-old woman was in a stable condition in hospital and helping with inquiries, but was not in custody.

“It’s very early days but (the woman) is in a stable condition,” he said.

He reassured the community there was no other immediate danger though.

“As it stands at the moment there’s no need for the public to be concerned about this other that it’s a tragic, tragic event,” he said.

“There should be no concern for anyone else out of this environment.”

“The crime scene will continue now for probably the next day or two and as we get further information we will share that with you.”

It is understood that police were familiar with the family.

The 34-year-old woman’s cousin told AAP at the scene the children were all siblings.

The woman was their mother, she said.

She said another sibling, a 20-year-old man, arrived home to find his brothers and sisters dead inside the house.

He is now being comforted by other family members.

“I’m going to see him now, he needs comforting,” the woman told AAP.

She described the family and extended relatives as close-knit.

“We’re a big family and most of us are from the (Torres) Strait,” she said.

“I just can’t believe it. We just found out (about) those poor babies.”

About 20 to 30 people, including neighbours and locals, could be seen to be visibly upset and comforting each other at the scene.

A couple who had lived around the corner for 18 months said they didn’t feel safe in the area and it was not uncommon to hear fighting and drinking at night.

“It’s pretty scary. Oh my God,” the man who did not want to be named told AAP.

Specialist police officers were travelling from Brisbane to assist with the investigation, Det Insp Asnicar said.

“We are missing nothing as far as conducting this investigation,” he said.

“This is not a small job, we’re not taking this lightly at all ... we’ll cover every angle before this is finished.”

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has described the news as “heartbreaking”.

“All parents would feel a gut-wrenching sadness at what has happened,” Mr Abbott said.

“This is an unspeakable crime.

“These are trying days for our country.

“Tonight, there will be tears and prayers across our country for these children.

“My thoughts are with the Queensland Police and all who have to respond to this terrible situation.”

A Mobile Police Facility has been established and officers from the Cairns Criminal Investigation Branch, Child Protection and Investigation Unit, Scenes of Crime and Scientific section are conducting an investigation and examination of the scene.

This is so terrible. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it all afternoon.

Those poor babies :(

I sincerely ask that this highly regarded TSI family are granted the utmost respect. Please refrain from speculating and further to this, mentioning the children's names.
Thank you.

@pecan

How am I meant to know what is going on in the world if you don't update me?!?!

Yes, and it puts an end to Springborg trying to claim a caretaker role for (potentially) months.

Sydney storm: Thousands without power as trees, powerlines brought down

6304994-3x2-700x467.png

Emergency services in Sydney are responding to calls for help after strong winds and rain brought down trees and powerlines.

A severe weather warning is in place for people in parts of Sydney.

Ausgrid said emergency crews were working to get power back to around 5,000 homes and businesses in parts of Villawood, Chester Hill and Bass Hill after lightning strikes near an electricity substation.

Fire and Rescue NSW said it was responding to more than 70 weather-related incidents.

A spokesman said the storm has caused minor flooding in Campbelltown, some electrical fires, and three residential fires which may been caused by lightning strikes.

A roof was blown off a house and landed on rail tracks at Mount Druitt station, forcing the partial closure of the Western Line and Blue Mountains rail line between Penrith and Blacktown.

The State Emergency Service (SES) said they had received 110 calls for help with storm related damage, mostly in Western Sydney.

Bureau forecaster, Zac Barry-Porter, said heavy rain had fallen in some areas.

"Twenty-nine millimetres in 30 minutes was reported at Avon Fire Tower, that's in the Illawarra," he said.

"As it did get into the metro we did have some reports of 39 millimetres in 30 minutes at Guildford, that's near Auburn."

Severe thunderstorms are forecast for Blacktown, Erskine Park, Fairfield, Holsworthy, Horsley Park and Liverpool this evening.

Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, Bankstown, Riverstone, Ryde and Strathfield are also expected to be affected by the storm later tonight.

The Bureau of Meteorology said large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds were likely.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also in place.

An A-League game between the Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne City has been delayed due to the weather.

The storm is also expected to affect the Illawarra, Central-Western Slopes and Plains, the Hunter and the Central Tablelands.

NSW election 2015: Mike Baird's campaign bus vandalised in Blue Mountains town of Katoomba

Vandals have targeted the election campaign bus of New South Wales Premier Mike Baird, spray-painting it as it was parked overnight in the Blue Mountains.

The side of the bus was plastered with pictures, symbols and messages, including the words "not welcome" scrawled over the top of the Coalition's campaign slogan "keep NSW working".

The Premier had taken his campaign to Katoomba to announce a $4 million tourism events package for the Blue Mountains.

Mr Baird made light of the incident, telling reporters: "It is an art town and we're very happy to see art - and sometimes we're not as happy to see art.

"But in any campaign you'll see people express themselves in all types of ways and we welcome it."

Mr Baird said the tourism funding would be used to attract a major event to the region, suggesting its natural beauty would be the perfect backdrop for an opera or musical.

He said local tourism was slowly bouncing back after bushfires devastated the region in 2013.

"It's not just about going back to business as usual," he said.

"The Blue Mountains is something that I think is undersold across our overall tourism strategy and indeed the world, and we want to promote it more."

The marginal Blue Mountains seat is held by Liberal MP Roza Sage.

The campaign bus, used to transport campaign staff and media to the region for the announcement, was attacked during the night as it was parked in a local street.

""Same-sex marriage and parenting withholds either a mother or father from a child while telling him or her that it doesn't matter. That it's all the same. But it's not. A lot of us, a lot of your kids, are hurting. My father's absence created a huge hole in me, and I ached every day for a dad," Barwick explained in her letter published by The Federalist. "I loved my mom's partner, but another mom could never have replaced the father I lost."

...

"I grew up surrounded by women who said they didn’t need or want a man. Yet, as a little girl, I so desperately wanted a daddy. It is a strange and confusing thing to walk around with this deep-down unquenchable ache for a father, for a man, in a community that says that men are unnecessary. There were times I felt so angry with my dad for not being there for me, and then times I felt angry with myself for even wanting a father to begin with. There are parts of me that still grieve over that loss today.

I’m not saying that you can’t be good parents. You can. I had one of the best. I’m also not saying that being raised by straight parents means everything will turn out okay. We know there are so many different ways that the family unit can break down and cause kids to suffer: divorce, abandonment, infidelity, abuse, death, etc. But by and large, the best and most successful family structure is one in which kids are being raised by both their mother and father."

"Gay marriage doesn’t just redefine marriage, but also parenting. It promotes and normalizes a family structure that necessarily denies us something precious and foundational. It denies us something we need and long for, while at the same time tells us that we don’t need what we naturally crave. That we will be okay. But we’re not. We’re hurting."

"Kids of divorced parents are allowed to say, “Hey, mom and dad, I love you, but the divorce crushed me and has been so hard. It shattered my trust and made me feel like it was my fault. It is so hard living in two different houses.” Kids of adoption are allowed to say, “Hey, adoptive parents, I love you. But this is really hard for me. I suffer because my relationship with my first parents was broken. I’m confused and I miss them even though I’ve never met them.”"

But children of same-sex parents haven’t been given the same voice. It’s not just me. There are so many of us. Many of us are too scared to speak up and tell you about our hurt and pain, because for whatever reason it feels like you’re not listening. That you don’t want to hear. If we say we are hurting because we were raised by same-sex parents, we are either ignored or labeled a hater.

This isn’t about hate at all ..."
