...amen to River Song twinsmum... Amen to her for sure... I was sooooo over her with her 'spoilers' crap that it was beyond belief for me that she had such a long run to be honest... don't get me wrong... Alex Kingston is a beautiful woman and no doubt a great actress but her character I always hated... but I am so happy that Missy wasn't her!...

...and by the way... your friend had great insight to pick that 'Missy' was 'The Master' that far back... kudos to your friend for spotting that!... cheers.
Totally agree! I love Alex but the role was so contrived and she was just...too much, not interesting.

yeah I thought it was funny! When she first said it I was like, no way, you're clutching at straws, but here we are again! She managed to pick the River/Melody line too..which i thought was totally ridiculous but maybe it just goes to show the timbre of the show these days :joyful:

I have spent way too much time thinking about this episode today, lol. But it was just so good.

Danny’s death was heart-breaking. But he doesn’t seem like the sort of guy to not be aware of his environment and step out in front of a car. The lady on the phone said the car came out of nowhere, so Missy likely arranged it to get the Doctor/Clara to the Nethersphere. After all, she did say last episode that she ‘chose well’ with Clara, so the whole thing must be planned.

We know Danny has a descendent who time travels and met the Doctor and Clara, so Danny can’t die here. Unless Clara was already pregnant … I read that some people think this, and that was the bad news she referred to in the phone call, especially as one of the post-it notes said THREE MONTHS. I thought the phone call was more about Danny’s request to talk at the end of the last episode, but maybe she actually is pregnant. Hard on viewers for Danny to die and leave Clara a single mother, so I assume there will still be a happy ending for them both. Well, I hope.

The Doctor’s loyalty to Clara was touching, I was so happy. Presuming this is Clara’s swan song, it is great for us to see the unconditional love he has for her. And Danny’s loyalty to Clara by not giving her confirmation that it was really him was beautiful too. Men in DW are very loyal to their loved ones (Rory waited for 2000 years for goodness sake) and I love the writers for it.

How chilling to think that when you die you are still conscious, even during cremation. That has to play into our most basic human fears. I’ve been wondering for a few weeks which is the episode that is too much for the kiddies, thinking it must have been the mummy episode, due to the scary skeleton torso and the dead bodies out the window, but this new concept of death has to be it, it’s unapologetically terrifying. When I was in early primary school, a teacher told us that when you are buried worms eat your body, and I literally had nightmares for years, so the BBC may not have wanted formative minds to see this episode.

Then the Cybermen finding a new way to upgrade via the dead, so they have unlimited recruits; they are already dead so maybe they can’t be killed (?); and they are working with the Master. Could they get any worse?

The Master returning was mind blowing, she's going to be lots of fun. And the Master kissed the Doctor, eww. Once the Doctor knew who she was, that has to be traumatic. Too many times in modern DW the Doctor is on the receiving end of unwanted kisses. Those scenes are clearly written by men, because girls know from experience that it generally takes a SPLIT SECOND to get out of an unwanted kiss, but the Doctor seems to just cop them, lol. Although I did giggle when Missy kissed the Doctor’s nose and the look on his face when she finished.

I read a few interesting points, most of which I didn’t notice myself:
  • Danny said the date 23 November which was the date of the first episode
  • The afterlife technology was invented by Dr SKAROsa, the Dalek’s home planet
  • The Doctor has been opening the TARDIS by clicking his fingers, so the key scene was flawed
  • One of the keys was hidden in a copy of The Time Traveller’s Wife
  • The swearing on the psychic paper was a nod to Capaldi’s recent role as Malcolm Tucker in The Thick of It
  • A lot of people thought ‘abandoned’ Missy was the Doctor’s granddaughter Susan, but that would have made that kiss awkward, or more awkward than it already was, lol
  • As Capaldi was in the Pompeii episode, that might be why he said volcanoes are ‘rubbish’
  • Steve Jobs is a Cyberman controlled by an iPad, lol
  • Missy’s sidekick Seb is comedian Chris Addison, I knew he was familiar but couldn’t quite place him, he looks so different
  • In the last scene where Danny is contemplating DELETING his emotions, there is a boy behind him reflecting in the iPad
  • Moffatt wrote the DW comic relief parody where the Doctor and the Master kiss, so that pash was a long time in the making, watch the video below if you've not already seen it

So I loved this week's episode. In fact, I’ve loved this whole season. Sad as it is to see the end, bring on the finale!!! (sorry about the essay length post, couldn't help myself)

Wow, what an episode! This season is seriously amazing. Almost flawless. I'm so glad Doctor Who is good again, after a few years of being rather shit in my opinion.

I wasn't expecting Missy to be who she is, but then that's probably my fault for believing Moffat—for the first time ever, mind you, so goes to show I made a mistake trusting him!

Ooo, that was wild wasn't it. This series has been so exciting, fun, fabulous.

The Master was always in the possible mix for me, and bullshit dead people feel - they are plucking them just before death.
All of the ones we saw arrive, were projected deaths, martyrs, accidents -maybe made to almost happen.
'
Danny isn't dead unfortunately, otherwise why would he be given an option?
The delete option, what happens if you pick otherwise?

And now, Clara has to go at christmas or finale, she is deteriorating as a person,
companions grow, she is going backwards.
She is no longer an asset, the doctor has found his feet and needs an adventurer now.
I wonder will we ever see how she became a Dalek?

I hope the ABC will repeat the entire series straight away, a nice run up to the Christmas special on Boxing Day presumably.

Wow @kxk, you're harsh on Danny & Clara!
"Danny isn't dead unfortunately" - do you mean storywise, or do you just not like him?

Yes a bit harsh:)
I don't like Mr pink much, he is just ok, he seems like he is on valium - I just go along, he will do sort of.
And I have loved Clara, absolutely loved her - but ever since Mr P, she is whacko, hopefully to be explained,
probably not, just life gets in the way unless you are actually in love with the Doctor.

And the Doctor can forgive her, not so sure I can, what she did - driven by grief of course, but still, it was horrible.
Clara's story is ending that's all, I hope nicely.

And I also liked River for a few appearances, the original stories she was in with Tennant.
Everything else became a stupid farce that annoyed me, every time she said spoilers or sweetie -
I kept relegating her to a character from ABFAB that fell into the wrong world.

I think you're right about Danny being alive. But how did they do it? There is a dead Danny body, we even saw his feet, so who is the Danny at the mausoleum? Or who is the dead body? Plucking them just before death does sound like a good theory.

And why do they need Danny to 'delete' himself when we know that Cybermen can do that without consent? The only thing I can think of is that human emotion in 'upgraded' humans sometimes unsticks the Cybermen's plans, so maybe the upgrade is more successful if humans choose to delete their own emotions, rather than being forced to.

I like Danny, I love how laidback he is. But I agree that Clara really has lost the plot since her involvement with him, she's not cut out for leading a double life. I don't know why she couldn't have just been honest with him, would have solved a lot of problems.

Go here - http://www.doctorwho.tv/whats-new/article/get-baking-with-our-pudding-brain-cake-recipe
for recipe and instructions.

Seems the key to this creation is cream cheese, and making a cake, but then squishing cake up into cream cheese and making a mould.

And next weeks preview looks amazing

Loving this season and adore Peter's version of the doctor. I adore wit and sarcasm and he has it down to perfection. My children are 6 & 8 and have been watching doctor who since they were 5 & 3. None of this season has been too scary for them they have really enjoyed it especially my son.

It's interesting watching my daughter re watch episodes of older doctors now she herself is older, she really gets into them and picks up new things each time she see watches repeats, it's also lovely to hear her talking to her prep teacher about Doctor who. She doesn't like the doll episode with the little boy/alien.

They were lucky enough to meet Jenna a couple of weeks ago at Armageddon. She was lovely with the kids :)

So excited for the finale, :)

Doctor Who

'Death in Heaven'

ABC, 7:00am, Sun, 9 Nov 2014, 60 minutes
With Cybermen on the streets of London, old friends unite against old enemies and the Doctor takes to the air in a startling new role.

...wow!... great start to this episode... it looks like they're going all out with this episode to leave a lasting impression to me... back to the show... cheers.

I agree nutmeg. I feel I can't say much about it yet because there are normal people who won't watch it until tonight, so I don't want to blurt out who died or whatever.
I did find it pretty mind-blowing, in a good way.

...that episode was seriously too mind blowing to take in on one sitting... I can't wait for it to be screened tonight so that I can come on here and blurt my guts out about it!... what an episode!... cheers.

It really was a lot to absorb so early in the morning. I was sitting there grinning, then open-mouthed in shock, then a few tears even snuck up on me... and there were WTF bits I wanted to rewind just be sure sure that really happened.

Btw @Mr Stickyfingers, I read in another thread about your wife, best wishes for her speedy recovery.

Well that was pretty satisfying:)
Moffat has done well, this series is a vast improvement in his story telling.

And thoroughly looking forward to seeing it again tonight.
@stickyfingers if you are bursting to chat, do you ever visit UK forums?

I like digital spy doctor section, they are not so extreme as the doctor dedicated sites, so I can keep up.
Plenty of viewers like us, big fans but not apostles.
The ones that can recite whole episodes from 1969 freak me out = good on them, but I cannot follow all that canon not canon way too in depth stuff and debates.

They have good theories, news bits and stuff.
